DX has epic slow delivery times, i remember waiting 2 months at one point.

      • Damn I hope not I ordered 1 from dx 2 weeks ago. Guess Ill fine out soon enough lol.

        • +1

I normally have to wait for about a month for dx orders. In any case I think local warranty and support is definitely worth $2.20.

        • +8

I placed a large order with dx very recently. They shoved everything into bubble packs, which destroyed each item's box. For example, one item was a music box for my wife, shaped like a sewing machine. It's box was ruined. (Makes for a very shabby looking gift.)

In regards to their shipping practices - they are just ridiculous. They split my order into so many different packages I gave up trying to keep track of what had and had not arrived. All spread over several weeks. In some cases where I ordered more than one the SAME item, they came in no sensible order - and in one or more bubble packs - and 3 or 4 weeks apart.

Another item was a heart-shaped clear plastic display box, with rose-shaped "soaps" inside. They're not even soap! They're just coloured foam things that I believe float in a bathtub. It had a thick coating of dust on the clear plastic case which was destroyed, having been shoved into a bubblepak along with a thick heavy bicycle combination lock - despite them sending everything in several packages which could have been far better shuffled to prevent damage.

Then there was the button-cell batteries I ordered. They emailed saying they were sent. A week or so later they emailed to say the package was returned because of the $1 batteries - and they would find another way to send it. Why they didn't just refund the batteries I'll never know because….

Next I ordered 3x pairs of sunglasses. One pair arrived with a missing side lense. Asked for a replacement. They emailed me back asking if I wanted a replacement or a refund. (Hello!? Anyone in there?) I said I didn't realise a refund was ok, and since they weren't really what I had expected, could I have a refund please - or a store credit - EITHER was fine. A few days later I notice the amount returned to my bank account. THEN they email me saying a store credit would be good for them (LOL, no joke) but I would have to confirm in another email that I wanted them to take the money back OUT of my bank again. (WHY!?)

Then there were several items they listed as being in stock, which were NOT in stock.

They're a pain in the neck.

        • +3

Fool you once, shame on them…

        • @realfamilyman:

sound like you bought a mountain of chinese junk.

the landfill looks forward to your visit.

      • +2

DX recently opened their australian distributor aud.dx.com which has free express shipping. I cannot confirm but I have heard shipping is < 1 Week.

        16c more expensive @ aud.dx.com

      This is Aus stock

      • +1

Just to clarify though, there's no official Aus stock, just already imported to Aus

        • +1

          really??? Xiaomi isn't local???

anyone else assume they where made by kangaroo's inside the opera house?

        • +1

@Son ofa Zombie: "Local stock" or "Australian stock" means the manufacturer has agreements with distributors in Australia who then supply the product to local retailers. There is a whole chain of support with that arrangement.

At the moment it looks like retailers have to import them from China and provide support themselves. So it's not official Australian stock, it's directly imported by the retailer. One benefit is that there's one less middleman making money.

No one mentioned anything about it being made in Australia.

  • +7

Good price for local stock. Support from these guys is way ahead of all the generic chinese sites.

    • Agreed, last time I bought from them there was a small issue with the item, but the follow up and service was the best I've experienced for ages.
Had a new item in my hands the next day. Worth supporting the local supplier I reckon.

  • How to add another xiaomi led for the same price ($4.95)?

I'm interesting on getting 2 leds but don't want to pay the full price for it.

    Thanks

    • how do you add one for 4.95? im only seeing the one thats $10

  • +4

I do get an "SSL connect error" error with Chrome and Firefox when choosing Paypal as checkout.

    • Me too - whole error is below.

Hope this can be sorted ASAP!

"An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (35) SSL connect error"

    • Same here. I'm using Firefox.

  • i have no idea about these things but think i'd like one… perfect when camping. is this brand considered one of the best?

just curious if i should go for this or wait for another deal to popup…

    • These guys…great support!

    • +2

This brand is widely considered to be the best value as it is well-made, uses good parts internally, and very well-priced.

They had a good deal in Dec where if you buy the 10,400mAh model for $25.95, you can add $29.95 to get this 16,000mAh model. But with the crappy AUD now, I'm not sure if that deal will come back.

    • thanks guys. just put an order in but had to pay via bank deposit (paypal was getting an SSL error). cheers!

  • +1

Double the official price in China. Is this really a deal?

    • Well, you will never really see cheaper gadget cheaper in Down Under, fact. Just got to see it from an Au perspective that's it's best value within this continent.

    • +9

      We are not in China.

    • +3

Includes (fast) Australian local shipping and GST. I'd say yes.

It's only $3~ more than shipped from an international seller. That's basically product cost + GST.

      • i have one from there last deal its a awsome device

      • Thank you for elaborating

    • +1

Even in China, it's hard to get it at that price, if you don't know where to get them.

      • Where can i get them in China? I'm going to China this week.

        • +9

If you are white or don't know how to speak Chinese fluently, don't bother. Even though my dad and I can sort of pass as non-tourist looking people (with my dad having a really good Chinese accent that most Chinese people thought he was Chinese), we had to haggle for like at least 30 minutes to bring the price of most of the stuff down to a reasonable range (i.e. not double the price)

Also, if you don't look Chinese enough, the relatively reputable places will sell you fakes as well, because they know that you won't be coming back.

Just get them from these guys, it's safer and it's relatively hassle free.

        • +1

Too many fakes in China. Don't bother.

        • +1

I have to say it's a lot of fakes on market, but go through Xiaomi official site is definitely the way to get their products

        • @AznMitch: totally agree. Once you visit those countries you will never actually see these warehouses. You get a huge number of retails which will have standard prices with high possibility of fakes. Even if you are Chinese doesn't mean you can talk your way to their low prices, just depends who you get.

You can use aliplay to buy it in China,

        for 109RMB, which is ~ $22

    • just buy it from china if you prefer to do so.

  • -8

I bought the 10400 one of you guys just over 2months ago and the usb charging port has sunk in after a few charges, making it completely unusable… I can't even charge the darn thing anymore, I don't see any differnt from this as its using the same shell! Useless!

    • +1

If you purchased locally there is the consumer law called warranty if an item happens to be faulty you can return it for repair or replacement……pun intended

      • +15

I know I sound lame, but where is the pun?

        • +5

Good to know I wasn't the only one who re-read it a few times looking for the pun!

    • +2

All purchases from Mushtato are covered by 12 months Australian standard warranty.

  • Hi, If this is ordered today, can it arrive to a sydney address by the end of this week?

If you order it today, your order will be shipped today or tomorrow by AusPost eParcel.
We will send you an email with tracking details after it's shipped.
You can then track in online from AusPost website to follow it up.

  • how many years does this product last before needing to buy a new one?

    • +2

Usually most portable battery last about 1000 charges.

So if you manage use up all 16,000 mah each day and have to recharge it overnight it last just under 3 years.

  • can we get a deal on the 10400?

  • Heading overseas on Sunday, would this arrive in Melbourne before then?

    • No

  • Is there anything larger than 16000mAh worth looking at?

    • +1

16,000mAh is pretty big already. What's your application? Are you happy to lug all that weight around with you?

      • Do you have anything to charge a macbook air on the run?. I understand i will need to get the magsafe adapter

        • +1

Xiaomi don't make those. Check out The Anker Astro Pro2 for that. You can get it off Amazon.

        • @eug: thankyou

    • Is there anything larger than 16000mAh worth looking at?

Two of them, plus a roll of double-sided tape?
Anker make some 20-25Ah ones, but they'll cost over $100.

      • In that case, I'll settle for this one.

Don't really need anything larger. Already have a 10,000mAh one.
Just thought if I were to get something larger than what I already have, I may as well go big (without spending a fortune).

        Thanks.

  • Dear OzBargainers,

Our network team is working on this it right now.
We will notify you all once it's fix.
If this issue cannot be resolved today by 1:30PM, we will end this promotion and bring it back next week.

For all customers that has already placed an order, if you wish to pay by PayPal.

Thank you for your patience and support.

    • Refreshing the checkout page to see if it's been fixed and the price has gone up $9??

Edit: Payment went through with PayPal at $40.95, thank you.

    • I missed out, I will look for this promotion next week

    • I had it in the cart but couldnt pay
      Now login not there

  • I bought the 10400 awhile a go and i was impress, then saw the 16,000 and bought the 16,000 just last week and sold the 10400. I wasnt impress with the size on the 16,000, kinda big. I still keep it for the large capacity and dual usb.
I will buy the 10400 again when its on sale.

So if your looking for something bigger than 16,000 then consider the portability…

    • From the picture the 16000 looks more compact than the 10,400.

I just bought the 16,000 and waiting for it to arrive.

      • From the picture the 16000 looks more compact than the 10,400.

The 16,000 is about 3/4 the width, but double the length.

    • i just bought 2 10400 last week from DWI, $51 delivered. legit, and fast delivery.

  • Anker vs Xiaomi battery pack, anyone has an opinion between these 2 brands?

    • would like to hear as well. recently bought the Astro E4 13000mAh (2nd Gen) for a similar price. I'm really happy with it, makes my battery life on the HTC One X somewhat bearable as I used to have to charge minimum once a day!

Not sure if there are many differences in the retention rates between the 2 brands for each charge.

  • Any worth whiles laptops that can be charged by usb powerbanks ?

  • Wait until you got 16,000 in hand…
The 10400 can fit in your shirt pockets and pant… But i think the 16,000 only go into your pant back pocket due to the length and heavy.

  • While I'm at it, are they any LED light bulbs (bayonet) worth getting from this site?

  • Can't wait for this to get even cheaper. Definitely will buy one once it gets cheaper. How much is this selling in China for? Can I buy it straight from the Xiaomi online store using PayPal,Visa or something like that?

  • Hi rep I forgot to add the xiaomi usb to my order. Could you add this to my order and I'll pay the difference?
I can pm you my order no if possible

  • Paypal works but the offer got removed from my cart and now the deal is $9 dearer. Does the rep do this a lot?

    • Please PM us your order number, we'll cancel it so you can go ahead with a new purchase. cheers

      • Thanks for the quick response. All I did was send a contact asking to send me a manual PayPal invoice, as suggested previously, but please ignore this request now that the offer works - many thanks.

  • +1

A couple of points based on my past purchase of the combo deal recently:
    - these guys provide great service and speedy delivery
    - both power banks were genuine as verified online with the official sticker
    - minor issue was quickly sorted out professionally
    - USB light is surprisingly useful when travelling as a portable table lamp and also very bright
    - power banks are high quality and a lifesaver when travelling.

        Lies!

  • DWI have the 10400mAh $25 each free shipping when spending $50 or more, anyone confirm if they are 100% genuine and local stock? never used them before!

Been waiting for a deal on the 10400mAh size since I missed out on the last mushato deal!

    • Hmm, aren't DWI dropshippers? Do they have a local presence?

      • Had a quick look, they have local contact numbers however looking in their FAQ they do not issue tax invoices, and regard themselves as an 'overseas' company.

Looks like I'll grab this deal instead.

  • +2
    • Thumb up!

  • Has anyone ever tried to bring this in carry-on luggage?

Seems like it is not allowed based on Cathay Pacific's website…

    http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_AU/about-us/contact-us/fa…

    1. Can I place portable power banks in my check-in baggage?
A portable battery charger including power banks (with built-in lithium batteries) used to recharge the lithium-ion batteries contained in equipment, such as mobile phone, is considered a spare lithium battery and must not be placed in your check-in baggage.
    • +1

I took my 10400mAh on Singapore Air without problems

      • no issues with Sydney airport security screening?

        • I'm in Brisbane but no issues with security

        • I have carried powerbanks from SYD to HKK (Carry-on lugguage) with no issue at all.

Checkin is in the plane…carry-on is on the person…..above carryon is fine how I read it!
