This is just rude, can't believe you can get priority processing just for owning a specific credit card :/

    • -5

Why is it rude? It's if you have a high income and have a card with an expensive annual fee….

      • +1

        trolling, surely!

    • +1

Also get priority for being a high level frequent flyer, member of a lounge, Business Class or higher passenger or even being a diplomat or VIP. Just another way for them to squeeze a few $$ out of us all. Think of it the other way, think of the money you are saving for simply having to do nothing (wait in a queue).

I don't see the problem - it's merely the operation of Australia's immigration, security and quarantine being managed by a private U.S. financial institution, that's all.

FYI Express Path isn't strictly an Amex's offering, if you fly business and above or at a decent level with the flight programs then you will get one of these pass anyway.

        • +2

Furthermore, since Express Path is a less heavy queue than the general queues, it benefits almost everyone. The general queue get less people in it, the cardholders paying anywhere from a few hundred to $5000+ for their annual membership get some benefit and the immigrations officers at the Express Path are kept busy and not bored :) The only people that might lose out are the existing Express Path users who may need to wait a little bit longer. Win-Win-Win-Lose situation :)

They actually tried this "express pass" stuff in the US in the wake of 9/11, only to shut it down when they found out that Al Qaeda/ISIS/ISIL et al do actually have the money to get credit cards. Luckily, we haven't learned that lesson yet, and so AMEX is good-to-go!

        • +1

You still go through the exact same screening, officers couldn't give two s**ts if you are express or not.

  • +5

I don't know if it's a bargain or not given the cheapest eligible card is $1200 a year.

Waiting in line is fun. I like waiting in a line like sheep.

Which is a dupe of https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/174996

So this is a double dupe.

      • +7

        Dupeception

        • does that turn a dupe into a tripe?

    • +2

I suggest you read the post in details - that was lounge access.

      • +4

        From the first dupe:

Also free trolley hire, Free wifi, express customs, valet parking discount of $20.

    • -3

      Not a dupe..

This deal does not include the non-Amex issued cards, the lounge access does.

      • Gotta love 3 negs for the truth :)

This deal only applies to certain amex issued cards whereas the lounge access is available to actual amex cards and bank issued amex cards.

I always thought the Express Path was for people running late, i.e. just about to miss their plane! I've used it once, it was most useful.

  • -7

If only I could afford a $1200 credit card (or was a senior enough manager to be issued a company one)…

    • +2

Not a valid reason for negging
