7mm is very thin for laminate. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

7 or 8 mm is normal for residential. The Ikea Tundra is 7mm, and great quality. Though it is German, and Masters is Chinese, so it may differ.

was about to say, been in the construction industry for years on and off and never seen more than 7-8mm and thats even on the highest quality german made stuff

think about it like this…would you want your floor raised 1cm for no reason at all?

        • Just about all the Bunnings stuff is 10mm, and the best stuff is 14mm…

7mm is very thin for laminate. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

      What about a 3048 mm pole ?

Might line my garage with it. See how long it lasts in a traffic area.

    • Wouldn't last 5 minutes

      • I put a cheap laminate on my garage floor and it works a treat.

        • Do you drive on it?

        • Not regularly but have done so numerous times.

        • +2

          laminate is great for burnouts…

  • $22.70 per pack? should list that as you can't buy part packs

  • Is this real timber laminate or the paper image type.

    • Standard laminate flooring - MDF base, photo image, and melamine finish. Similar to kitchen benchtops (but MDF, not chipboard.)

      Real hardwood for $8/mˆ2 ? You're dreamin'!

      • I thought it maybe like 0.5mm real timber laminate on mdf, not photo. Yeah I was hoping for too much wasn't I.

        • +1

The photo laminate is much tougher, and from your question, I reckon you have walked on it a thousand times without realising it was fake.
It is easy to lay, very easy to clean, looks good, lasts. ie practical. Just not sure about the quality of the Masters special.

Real. Made from Australian Spotted Gum

        Laminate tree?

Which part of the tree exactly? the plastic bark? or the melamine leaves?

  • Normally how much labour to put floor up?

  • what makes this a bargain?

Bunnings everyday has a range of 8mm laminate flooring for $7.90 per sqm

EDIT: ah…. see this is "special Bunnings pricing" that only appears on the front page and not product pages… sneaky

    • Yeah it's actually $31.32

      • /2.102m²

        • Sorry yeah per box which is $14.95m2

    • Real Timber laminate?

    • Looks like just one colour each on special at Masters and Bunnings. So it comes down to whether you prefer spotted gum or Merbau?

      • spotted gum is quite nice - has character compared tor Merbau

    • I'm guessing $7.90 will be the price tomorrow @ bunnings

    • Bunnings everyday has a range of 8mm laminate flooring for $7.90 per sqm

Have you actually looked at that stuff though? It's little more than a paper coating. It's peeled and lifting on their display, at shoulder height, so wouldn't last more than 5 minutes on the floor.

EDIT: Bunnings website isn't even listing 7mm laminate …. have they removed it perhaps?

  • Does this sort of product need an underlay? (flooring is yellow-tongue.)

  • Don't bother with Masters located in SA near Airport, all sold out since 11am! I had planned on grabbing a bit for my 'man cave' but missed out.

    • You'd want polished Aluminium Diamond Plate for that

  • I know people are still looking for this so I have checked which stores still have it available.
