  • No micro version of the Telstra data SIM? :(

    • ya they r all standard unfortunately. you can always get it chopped from your local phone store.

      • Or buy one of those cutters on eBay for 1 or 2 bucks.

I have a cutter and a few adapter packs for all scenarios :)

      • +5

As posted last deal, Telstra will swap SIM free, at or after activation.

Why hassle around or buy a cutter, when it's a free service at Telstra Shops?

  • Thanks OP; wondering how long the Vodafone 3GB of data lasts before expiring?

    • 28 days. thx

      • unlike telstra and optus, sims do not expire

  • can you use google play store credit for Devices ?

    • No.

  • 3GB Telstra data for $11 is pretty attractive. I already have a few 3GB Vodafones but as the latter don't expire I'm thinking I might jump on one of those Telstra packs and use it when my current one runs out.

    • $1 price reduction on previous deal - they're getting closer to expiry date ;-) (Previous deal expiry was oct 2015)

Only 3GB Telstra data SIMs I know of are for iPad, with strict conditions not to use in other devices.

      • Oh… so that's a no go for my Vodafone Pocket WiFi Extreme then?

        If so, I'm out!

        • +3

OP should clarify t&c of use.

Buying without packaging means you may not be made aware of t&c that normally come with retail pack.

When I used to use these in my "iPad", which looked like a Pocket WiFi, I had to agree not to use it in any other devices.

Since Telstra no longer offers the iPad SIM Starter Pack, those t&c may be redundant. It now offers the 2GB Tablet Starter Pack.

Those seem the same as the multi-fit phone SIM Starter Packs, which can be activated with Tablet as the device, with 2GB. Woolies had these at $1 before Christmas.

But given the stuff ups by this business in previous 2 deals, I personally would be wary of dealing with them.

          (Got your PM Click_it)

        • @brucefromaustralia:

Thanks for clarifying Bruce, that's good enough for me I will skip this one.

        • @Click_It: it works 100% in any device

        • I seem to have confused these standard sized 3GB data SIMs (not usually available for sale to my knowledge, but included with mobile modems) with the old retail 3GB iPad Starter Pack, which came in micro & nano SIM size. So there should be no restrictive t&c. Sorry.

          I'll send Click_it a PM.

        • @brucefromaustralia:
          Click_it is back in.

        • @brucefromaustralia:

Yes I am, will order one tomorrow night if still in stock.

        • …Just ordered 2. Thanks Rep, this will ensure I don't run out of data during my work trip.

      • @bruce you can use the sims in ipads, broadbands, even in phones. You might need to update your APN but it works 100%

        • I bought 6 in the last deal and still have 2 left..have had no problems with the 4 I have used so far :) Alot cheaper than alternatives too!

        • +1

          @massari:
There was never a doubt these would work, just a question of t&c of use. OP never responded to that issue I raised.

There have recently been cheaper alternatives like $9 Vodafone 3GB (no exp) including unlocked USB modem (Click_it bought those after my recommendation), $1 Telstra Starter Packs (exp 9/16) with $30 credit = 2GB, etc. I'm set with a stack of those. Much more useful than a dearer SIM expiring next month.

For suggestions on how to get the best value from Telstra for data & phone, there's the OzBargain Wiki. As things are changing rather quickly, it needs updating, so feel free to add to it. I've been to occupied to keep it up too date.

        • @brucefromaustralia: I agree they look like they will provide 2GB so a whole 33% less than advertised. Rep should please respond/address and clarify/correct the deal.

        • @samlor:
No, Telstra did supply 3GB etc data SIMs. Often included with mobile broadband modems. These were not retail packs to my knowledge. If these are that type of SIM, no worries with t&c.

The only 3GB retail pack I knew of was the iPad Starter Pack, but that was micro or nano-SIM, not standard SIM size. Those had restrictive t&c.

My comment was only that Starter Packs (not these) now come with 2GB.

          Needs clarification by OP.

  • What's the expiry like for your Telstra 2GB pack?

    • sorry outa stock :/

Would I be able to use the Voda $50 starter pack in thailand? :)

    • haha no

  • Ordered a couple of Google Play vouchers. My balance is under $5 and I've been waiting for a decent offer, so thank you. :)

  • Noob question as I've never purchased Google Play cards before:

"They need to be redeemed before 22/2/2015 on play.google.com/redeem" <— does this mean as long as you redeem it before 22/2, it's available to use at your discretion without expiry concerns?

I assume the answer is yes but just playing it safe.

    • +1

as long as you redeem before 22/2, they credits will stay in your account for 2 years

based on the last google play card i bought from these guys (after redeeming/activation of course) the credit is still in my account after 1 year

  • Thanks OP. Is the Vodafone sim available for pick up?

    • yes it is

  • Hi OP,
There doesn't seem to be any security on the account creation/checkout page.
    Am I missing something?
"Your connection to www.phonebot.com.au is not encrypted."

    • ya its not ssl atm .sorry

  • Hi Phonebot,
If I buy multiple Telstra SIMs, do I have to pay the $3 tracking for each one?

    Thanks

    • +1

      no just oncew. thanks

        • @erroorfree:
Received the SIMs today, very prompt. Thank you.

  • Can you transfer away the credit of the telstra ipad sims with creditme2u?

    • Data SIMs do not have a credit value to transfer.

      • That's what I thought. But the ozbargain wiki https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/telstra_pre-paid_starter_p… says this: "The included $30 credit is used to buy data at the Recharge rate, which is now only worth 2GB.) The main advantage is this is $ Credit, rather than use-or-lose-it 3GB DATA Pack, so can be used to top up other SIMs, be rolled over at recharge, etc. "

So I was just checking if someone else can confirm this :D

        • +1

          (Umm… I wrote that.)
That is for the iPad Starter Pack (I got the type of data SIM confused in answer to Click_it), which is a micro or nano SIM, unlike this standard SIM. These seem to be non-retail data only standard size data SIMs, so have no credit value, only an included data allowance. Just used a 5GB one, that was included with a Telstra mobile modem.

        • @brucefromaustralia: I see. Thanks for clarifying.

And lol @ me quoting stuff you wrote :D

        • @raven2000:
No worries ;-) Glad you read it.
Unfortunately those packs are no longer available from Telstra.

I woke to a deal quoting me in November, which made strange reading, as I was in Tokyo.

  • Do we have to use PayPal as the payment method for the Google Play cards or can I pay by credit or debit?

I don't see any other payment option other than PayPal.

    • +1

on paypals website you can actually pay by card. you dont need an account for that

      thanks

      • Ahhh right no problems thanks!

  • OP, which delivery address do you use, the one registered with your site or the PayPal one?

    • codes r delivered via email. sims are delivered to the 'shipping address' you provide at checkouut

  • +1

Phonebot, I got 2x$40 google play vouchers, but 2 of the codes supplied via email has already been redeemed.
Can you do something, it's order 3683

    • Fred has now resolved this. Thanks for the speedy resolution

  • I've got the same problem, I ordered 7 $40 google play vouchers got 14 codes of which 12 have top codes have already been redeemed only the 2 last codes were fine. Thanks Fred from Phonebot for responding now 11 of the 12 codes works just need my last code.

  • Hi erroorfree, I have the same issue 3 of the 4 codes did not work for Order #3695, email has been sent.

    • All fixed - thanks for quick resolution, Fred.

  • Order #3747 - second code ok, but first code already redeemed!
    Email sent, OP, please fix.

    • Resolved by email from "Fred".

BTW, I noticed "Current Balance (includes A$40.00 expiring on Feb 26, 2016)" in Google Wallet's "Google Play balance". So, only 1 year to use.

  • How long does it usually take for the google credit to arrive? I have never bought credit on-line before and it says the order is complete.

  • Op, I have the same issue like AlexF.

Order#3783 - Second code is fine, but first code already redeemed. Email sent.

    • Fred from Phonebot has resolved this. Thank you for a quick reply.
