Man they're plans are much better than Telstra but their coverage still sucks or they don't provide enough slots out in non-metro areas.

    • +1

      Try Telstra pre-paid

    Not worth it.

Didn't plans that cost this much used to come with a phone?

This plan is basically what was offered 2 years ago with a s4

If we buy the iPhone 6 Plus 16GB outright, it is $1000.
    Using Liveconnected $15 pm for 24 mnths = $360.
So total cost would be $1360.

On the Optus $77 pm plan, it gives you
    The iPhone 6 plus 16GB & 600 mins + 1GB = $1850 (24 mnths)

It is still cheaper to buy the mobile outright.

What would be the benefit of going on a mobile phone plan?

There is no current $15 plan on LiveConnected website. Cheapest plan is $19. If we have compare with 1GB data and 600 mins, then comparable plan is $23, which will be $552. Still $1552 cheaper than $1850, but then we don't have to spend $1000 at once. It is personal choice.

      • Good point. I am still on the old LC plan.
But they did moved my wife from the old $12 plan onto the new $18 plan at VAYA:
        http://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Mobile&4Gsimonly&plan=Power%2…

The $18 plan gives you $650 calls and 1.5GB which is more data than the Optus $77 plan.
So $1432 is better than $1850, but you have to fork out the payment upfront.

Guess upfront is better if you travel overseas and can claim TRS.

This coming week or next Optus are reducing the 115$ phone and Internet plans down to 90$

Was on optus but now on voda. For $50/month (no contract) I get unlimited text and calls +300 international minutes (any country) + 3 gb data + a lot better coverage than optus.

    • Voda coverage is not better than Optus in WA but its customer service is much worse than Optus. I am waiting for my contract to end and get out of Voda

    • Vodafone have fewer cell stations than Optus, so their coverage cannot possibly be better.
My experience over a long period of time has been a continuum of woeful network coverage and very poor data speeds. They are now claiming 4G but only a tiny proportion of their cell stations are 4G - most are still not.
Regardless of 3G/4G, they appear not to provision the data adequately. If you get good sustained data performance, you are exceptionally lucky and it's probably related to where you happen to be mainly located.

      • Does their coverage reflect Optus & vice versa (roaming agreement) ?
Anything is better than using a VPN to correct for Optus' horrid data management, stream a video etc. I went from woolies to Voda direct.

Read industry surveys & you'll see how outdated that experience is.

      • I myself and my wife were on Optus for a couple of years (and was using Telstra before Optus),in Sydney, I move a lot within Sydney and can tell you for sure that Vodafone is much better [now] than Optus. The number of cell stations is one factor, the other is how much crowded they are, I believe Optus cannot serve the load due to a load of franchises providing mobile services using Optus network. Furthermore I regularly use my mobile (same was the case with Optus) on train to remote desktop into my work servers(there are a couple of blind spots I find but same was the case with Optus and Telstra)

    1. Apps have given me them and more, for ages.
    2. Fruitcakes which price themselves out of the market? Priceless.

…But as above, have 50% off 100 every month on prepaidVoda for a more apples-to apples comparison.

  • Excellent news!
I'm currently paying $10 extra per month for the Optus International Value Pack.

I hope they increase internet usage 10-15gb

I am using $100 plan, it means I only use 8gb internet

I usually use internet around 10gb per month, even I didn't share any other device I only use my iphone to check news and oz bargain

I need to pay extra cost again this month

    • You use 10Gb data on your mobile every month??? Holy mother of Mary, for some people, 10 Gb is the equivalent of their home broadband usage lol.

I don't believe you only use it for news and OZBargains -either you're a troll or someone's been using leeching on your mobile data usage.

I work 14 hours in asian restaurant 6 days a week

And I usually use internet 10 hours per day by phone

I actually use 5-6 hours internet because I am having lunch, dinner, work as well

I browse 5-10 news page per minutes and I use 3000-5000 web page per day

8gb is extremely not enough for me, I usually reduce to use my phone after 7.5gb

        • +1

14hrs per day in Asian restaurant, hope they pay you properly with tax and compensation :)

I just had three goes trying to get a text to an Amaysim number when altering a Hotmail account - the change, and the change back message when they failed to materialise were almost instant on Voda - I've lost count of failed texts, ones that turn up after 24 hours ect on Optus or resellers on their network. Couple that with the underwater affect if you talk more than two minutes due to their skimping on voice bandwidth, and the many times I have done a test ring to a phone on an Optus fed SIM in the same room only to be told it was unavailable, then having the call work two minutes later and any account price or add-ons relating to Optus would be no bargain at all.

The 1 meg data tax every time their dodgy network drops your connection is just the icing on the cake.

Virgin Mobile have been including int'l calls and text in all their plans to any country for years. Given that VM is owned by Optus this is a raw deal.

  • 50 minutes is nothing! Telechoice and virgin allow you to use full cap value for international calls. Nonetheless, there is actually no deal here op.
