Why was this negged? EDIT: I get it now. My bad..

      • +2

The original post was highly confusing is why, he's sorted it now.

    • +4

Nevermind. The original poster had the price listed as $779 hence my post. Obviously not a bargain now compared to the updated correct pricing.

You really aren't very good with %

    • +1

the prices listed above have 40% off that price.

edit. i have now updated all prices

  • Anyone know if bosch is a good brand?

    • +2

When I was googling them productreview had them all 4+ stars Im fairly sure, Bosch from memory has some production in Germany and some in China now though.

But yeah, with all whitegoods google the product code and see what people say about them. Some are BS "I filled it with crayons and htey ruined my washer and they wouldn't fix it for free" or "delivery was slow from retailler so this item is terrible" but if you see common faults stay away.

      • thanks for the feedback.
I usually do google and do my own research but I'm at work etc.

Also find it's better to get live information coming from a forum i trust rather than other websites.

        • +2

Don't worry. There's so many new people who just neg for no reason. They're like a plague that infects Ozbargain.

    • +4

I bought one their dishwashers(Yes I know there is a difference between a Dishwasher & a Washing Machine). Never again will I buy any of their Whitegoods. It would constantly block. They had trouble finding a service agent to come out. Agent opened it up, and a few dead cockroaches, & blamed them for the blockage. He didn't even check the Inlet/Outlet. He later advised that it was not covered by warranty, and he was out of pocket for the call out fee, and wanted $50. I now own a Stirling from Aldi, that is 1/2 the price, and I have not had any blockages.
Also, last year I started purchasing Ryobi +One cordless products instead of the Bosch equivalent.

      • +1

Yep, Bosch ain't the Bosch they used to be… but that can be said for most manufacturers nowadays. I'm finding a lot of the cheap 'generic' stuff equals or exceeds my expectations of the known brands. Latest experience was when comparing the cheapie $500 Washer & Washing Machine I purchased for a property to the fancy 'full-o-wank' $4000 Miele junk in our house. The Miele is now 2 years old but has never washed anywhere near as well as the cheap LG, even on Pots & Pans! I think the Miele is the last 'high-end' branded product I buy, it'll be standard generic stuff from now on.

        • The agent also blamed that mine was made in Turkey, not Europe. I said, technically part of Turkey is in Europe & some mob from Rome held the capital for @1500 years. ie Constantinople.

        • +1

LG is not exactly "generic", they probably make the best white goods at their price point.

      • +1

Also, last year I started purchasing Ryobi +One cordless products instead of the Bosch equivalent.

        Interesting

        • +1

Most of the Ryobi One +range is awesome. Only downside is that Bunnings seem to have a monopoly on it.

    • we bought the bosch 7.5kg too, its been great, uses tank water and no issues or stinky clothes!

I have a Bosch fridge and I probably will never buy this brand again (At least for Appliances)

We bought a two door stainless steal fridge for $3000+ and we have a problem with freezer (Stopped working can't remember why) and the outer parts of the doors rusting. Basically about a year after owning the freezer just died, this was in summer so about $100+ on food was wasted because we could eat it all and then I noticed small spots of rust on the side of the doors and a few on the front of the doors.

I will say their warranty and servicing was pretty decent, they did repair the freezer and then a few months later replace the doors without issue, but now a year later the doors are showing signs of rust again.

I hope that the fridge last but I'm not sure how long it will, I can tell there appliances aren't built as good as their tools but even there tools are getting worse (My dad is a tradie and would only use Bosch tools until a few years ago when he noticed they are slowly getting worse)

But this deal is for there washing machines so hopefully it's a different story (Also 40% off who can complain)

This is the fridge I own btw: http://www.laybyland.com.au/bosch-762l-side-by-side-fridge-s…

Could be a dodgy batch but of course 'they're only as good as their worst product' and as we've noticed a trend with products from traditionally reliable brands becoming poorer & poorer over the last few years we just can't blindly trust that anything is as good as it used to be.

In saying all that it is very refreshing to discover equally well performing products being released from the generics or from traditionally lower-grade manufacturers for a tenth of the price of the others. The manufacturing game has rapidly changed in recent years and I think brand loyalty will soon be a thing of the past. They've all done it to themselves and we consumers are winning all the way… but it can still be risky.

  • That was28 model is an absolute steal! It is also eligible to receive a $150 Vic government rebate making it even more ridiculous!
Wait - aren't the discounts off rrp? So $1499 minus 40%…?

  • +1

Good brand of Washing Machine. Esp the ones manufactured in Europe. In the market for a machine.
The WAP24160AU came up toward the top in the last Choice review.

Perfect timing. Now I need to apply for a StoreCard

  • I've added to cart but I can't get the prices that Op's getting. Am I missing something?

  • +1

    Bosch WAS28461AU

    Wow! Big discount!

  • Bosch WAS28461AU
I paid 1k for this couple of months ago…nice machine.

  • damnit good price.
I just bought a 7.5kg euromaid for about $500 (delivered) last week

I would've happily bought this instead

  • +2

Seems like you can claim another $150 if you are in vic?

    • Why Victoria only? I hope there is a rebate for NSW.

dishak, what an awesome find! I have a fully functional Bosch washing machine already but at this price I am tempted to buy a new one.

  • Awesome deal. I had to replace mine last year and spent ~$1300 on a Siemens (rebranded Bosch). Would've been all over this had it been available then.

  • damn doesn't work on the 8kg

  • Sooooooooo, how quickly can i get a storecard? Looks like you have to send off for one of them? Great find BTW!

  • How long does it take to apply for the DJ store card?

    • will the deal be over by the time you get it?

  • Dammit just bought a washing machine 2 weeks ago

  • Shame I don't have a DJ AMEX :(

  • +2

I did A LOT of research prior to buying a front loader, found that the cheaper Bosch's were made in China and the more expensive ones were made in Germany, though i believe the quality isn't like the old Bosch, a lot of poor reviews and i ended up pushing the budget to Miele spec so in the end dropped $1.8k on a Miele it has been without fault and awesome but it has cost us a bit, though the hassle of been without a working washing machine decided it for me that i wanted quality and i got it. Plus we get free gifts every couple of months to entice us into the showrooms, decent gifts too.

recap for TLDR: Bosch price very good, poor quality compared to old, not as good anymore, i spent more for quality and the hope it will last me 20years (Miele)

    • The cheap ones are made in Thailand. To get benefit of the free trade agreement.

You could also go through the qantas store and earn 5 air miles for every dollar spent!

For those who don't have DJ AMEX.

I was in DJ Sydney city store on Friday asking the AMEX lady standing at the AMEX boot on the ground floor for direction to liquor department so I can get 2 bottles of MOET for $100. She told me if I apply for DJ AMEX card, I can have bonus points in my card straight away and the bonus points is enough to buy 2 bottles of MOET and paid for 1 year card fee. She can issue a temporary card in 10 minutes and I can use the card to buy it. You can try this for $100 cheaper on the washing machine and cancel the card after 1 year.

plus delivery of $55 (i live in sydney)

great deal, but I find it sickening that the delivery price is more than 10% of the actual product cost. It is really no wonder that manufacturers don't give a toss about their products anymore.

The maori that delivers this, is going to make more money than the engineers that spent months designing it. If another $55 was put directly into the motor, the seals and bearings, the machine would probably last forever. Anyways, what can u do…

  • I'd probably jump on this if Bosch make top loaders. Does anyone know of any good top loader deals that are around? I'm also open to suggestions on a good top loader brand, as the research i have done and the salespeople i speak to, just confuse me even more.

    • No one makes these old dinosaurs anymore and they shouldn't spend the money on r&d for these machines. If you have to get one, go for a Fisher & Paykey or the top end Haier.

  • +1

No idea if this is a good deal but have been very happy with our Bosch machine (6.5kg frontloader).

  • +1

Looked at a bosch when we were looking. Instead dropped cash on an AEG. German made and with 5 year at home warranty. Few hundred more but solid as a rock.

  • How do I go about getting store card? I see the cheapest is free, do I have to attach it to an American Express card?

    Any info would be helpful.

  • Use Big W gift card promo previously to buy DJs gift card to get further 7.5% off

    • +2

Won't work because you pay with store card…

  • Good Luck on Service and trying to get thru the Call Centre to book a call.

  • +1

No Bosch any more. My washing machine was just 2 years old when bearing started making funny noises. Waiting for it to die to get Miele

  • -2

I have a bosch, one of the models made in China and it is fantastic.

  • +1

Bought Bosch WAS28461AU. Thanks OP. Hoping that Bosch would look after quality control in Chinese made units. IPADs are made in China for gods sake :-)

My first front loader. Was waiting for the 10kg LG or Samsung to go on special (would pay $1100 for these) but at this price, the Bosch is worth a trial despite the smaller size. My 5 kg Hoover top loader has been with us for at least 15 yrs, though it had one reconditioned motor put back in. Let's see how this Bosch goes.

    • +1

Same i am hoping that this will last me at least 10 years, my last Bosch has been going strong for 8 years and to get it fixed they wanted $520 so decided to buy a new one for this amount.

      • Can you get extended warranty even after purchase? At this price, I don't know whether it is worth while.

I was going through productreview and was quite reassured (though not really feed back on reliability on these reviews).

        Cheers OP.

  • Is there any good deal for high quality fridges ATM? any help appreciated, Thanks! :)

  • Are the prices in the original post correct? I cannot get it to that price with the DJ Amex Card selected in the cart?

The WAP24160AU 7kg Front Load Washing Machine only goes down to $669 not $509.40??

  • Higher prices. I reckon its 40% off the RRP. Not 40% off the sale price which probably happened yesterday as an error

    • Damn, think you are right. Was ready to buy as well. Only took $200 off the biggest one. Disappointing. Lucky we don't need a washing machine yet, one we have only has a few small issues so it can last as long as it needs.

      • +1

Fair dos. But as i'm in Victoria, i'm a sucker for a rebate. $150 is hard to ignore..

  • Can someone tell me, are they programmable or manual in addition to the obvious preset programmes?

My current LG is good but the programmes are fixed. i.e. it has a 30 min wash but the temp is preset to 30C and cannot be adjusted. I would actually prefer manual control.

Also it would be good to specify the water supply. My 60C programme draws from the hot water tap, but the 40C progamme I use 90% of the time draws cold water and then heats it and therefore takes much longer. I would like to draw hot water (about 45C at the tap) with no further heating for a quick warm wash.

  • Yesterday I went into DJ and got a Store Card. Now you get a temp storecard till your proper once gets delivered (which is 10-15 days). The problem is, the temp card doesnt have a CSV number. Therefore i couldn't order it online when i got home. So beware if anyone plans to do the same.

    • Looks like you can't get these machines now. Web site still has sale price but all models on special are flagged out of stock. Was going to ask family members to look at this deal but too late now.

  • Just went into David Jones Chadstone where they still have the 40% off deal, however they priced the WAP24160AU at $749, it seems it was 40% off original and not the sale price?

    • Yes it's 40% off the RRP which ruins the deal.
