Seagate Business Storage NAS 4TB (2-Bay $209.30 / 4-Bay $279.30) at Officeworks

180

Officeworks is clearing out the older model Seagate Business Storage NAS's. There are 2 varieties (2-bay & 4-bay) and both come with 4TB storage. The 2-bay comes with 2 x 2TB drives (Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001) whereas the 4-bay comes with 4 x 1TB drives.

I just picked up a 2-bay from Officeworks @ Port Macquarie and they had one 2-bay left but were out of the 4-bay. In my opinion the 4-bay is the better deal as it is more expandable and comes with a slick LED screen but other than that the specs are basically the same and are as follows:

  • CNS3420 Dual Core 700MHz CPU
  • 512MB DRAM
  • 2 or 4 hot-swappable SATA II/III bays
  • 2 USB3.0 host ports (1-front, 1-rear)
  • 2 Gigabit ethernet ports (w/ failover support)
  • 1 USM slot (front)
  • RAID 0,1 & JBOD (2-bay) / RAID 0,1,5,10 & JBOD (4-bay)
  • DLNA/iTunes server
  • 3-year warranty

Note: As these are clearance items expect stock levels to be low so good luck to all.

  • Worth it for the hard drives alone. Unfortunately, no stock near me.

    • I called the store. It is not available despite the website still showing it

  • damn, perfect deal. none around in bris. never mind, hope someone gets one!

  • 4tb 4 bay sold out in perth

    • …and the 2 bays as well…

  • None in Sydney.

Does JBHIFI sell the 2 bay NAS? Maybe i'll try price matching.

  • None in Adelaide

  • No stock near me but strange that a device like this has already maxed out the drive bay With 4 x 1tb and the 2 bay with 2 x 2tb. Having to removing the useless small size drives just to upgrade the capacity.

    • I thought the same, the reasoning behind 4 x 1TB drives is so all Raid features can be enabled.

  • managed to get the last 4bay one at vermont south.. already have a 8bay diy nas with 24tb..this should come in handy for rsync backup at my sisters house :)

There might be some at chadstone…

  • Nothing… ;(

I'm seriously considering recommending Kaspersky as my anti-virus vendor of choice simply to support their work annoying Uncle Sam.

      • Good idea.

  • Thanks grabbed the last 1 at Cranbourne Officeworks. Used the find stock option then called to check stock had 1 left. =)

  • Does anyone have one of these? Can you put custom firmware on it to get some more features? Been trying to find some stuff online, but can't find anything for this model. Have one on hold for pick up tomorrow… Hoping it will be good for backups! :)

  • Any recommendations of one vs the other? I have the ability to buy either….Should I go with the 4-bay one? Just about to start working at home for a US company but unsure of my storage needs at the moment.
    Cheers for the help
