Paid $1400 a year ago for guaranteed outside so this is a great deal. Lots of days at sea .

    • +11

Doesn't a great deal deserve a positive vote?

  • +2

    $57 night inclusive.

If only wasnt already booked to go to Singapore on the 26/04.

    • +1

Ditto if i wasn't already booked to go out on the 9th April

For Ocean View Stateroom on Deck 03:

    2 Adults 0 Children: 2398 AUD
    2 Adults 2 Children: 5273 AUD

When traveling with children it's cheaper to book two rooms and leave the other one empty …

    • +3

Where do you stow the children?

    • +3

Not all rooms have quad beds so there is a good chance you will not be able to leave the other one empty … But yes cheaper to book two and use two.

    • Yeah but if you have 3 kids you get royally shafted. 3rd guest per room seems to be charged at over a grand, even though they are still sharing the same room with the $600 guests. Makes no sense.

      • +1

Pity you cannot choose the cabins as the ship does have interconnecting doors on some cabins to allow you to open up 2 cabins for 1 family. If you could choose then you could find this.

    • +2

better yet book your children on an inside cabin. Depending on cabin availability, you can get one next to the ocean view and just use it as your walk in closet.

Wonder if Aus citizens need to have a Vietnam Visa for this cruise? They normally do to visit Vietnam @ $95pp.

    • +3

      This gives standard-kinda info:
      http://www.royalcaribbean.com.au/beforeyouboard/travelDocume…
      http://au.visacentral.com/?login=royalcaribbean

      This answers in detail:
      http://www.royalcaribbean.com.au/customersupport/faq/details…

For Cambodia and Vietnam, ship personnel will assist each guest required to secure a visa for Cambodia and Vietnam and charge the guest's onboard SeaPass® account a one-off fee of no more than fifty (USD 50.00) dollars for a Cambodia visa and no more than fifty (USD 50.00) dollars for a Vietnam visa. These visa fees include a small administration charge paid to our local representative.

      • +5

"Small admin charge paid to our local representative" - yup - definitely sounds like Sth East Asia to me… ;) (I'm just jealous)

    • +3

Visa is organised by RCCL. The Vietnamese Officials come onto the ship and verify each one prior to you leaving (you stand in line with your passport just like you do when you come back into Australia at immigration) so yes you do need one. Cant recall the costs but I think it was cheaper to use RCCL than to get it done yourself.

  • Shame, misses Songkran by 2 days
    :(

    • Every time I have been they always started a little early anyway… So pretty sure getting wet will be part of it still.

Leave on the first of April…. Is this some sort of elaborate April Fools @ramclub? :P

  • -4

Can you ask for the gratuities to be cancelled? Refund of gratuities = cheap flight home. :)

    • +6

If you have no conscience and don't mind ripping off third world workers who earn very little you can. Very selfish though.

      • +1

Wow. Was joking. The price is already amazing even with the included tips!!!

  • Has anyone been on this particular ship before?
    How does it rate?

    • +3

It's recently renovated. But I found they mostly renovated common areas not rooms.
It's big. In fact biggest Australian based cruise ship. It takes a couple of days to get your head around what is where on board. Free food is abundant but tasteless. Good experience though. Especially for kids. We liked it.

    • +2

Been on mariner and voyager. Sister shiPs very similar.

Large, lots of activities and of course food everywhere. BuffEt daily.

They are also kids friendly which is not often the case on cruise ships that tend to cater for the older folk.

      • +2

Its not a great ship for small kids anymore as in the last refit they took away the kids pool and slide and now the shallowest pool is 4'6" deep. However for older kids its probably one of the best ships that visit Australia.

No idea why you got downvoted, so here's an upvote.
OzB people are a finnicky bunch.

Any idea on how their pricing for babies/toddlers are?
Their website only mentions special pricing, but doesn't say much else except to call them.
          Looking specifically for under 1yo.

        • @SuiCid3:

          This might help:

          http://www.royalcaribbean.com.au/customersupport/faq/details…

I do know by default they add the full gratuity on even for babies… I am all for paying my tips as thats the staffs wages really but I think even I would go and remove it from a babies account!

        • +4

          @Pobman:

Haha given my 2 year old made the most mess I thought they deserved it.

        • @Joxer: well in that case… yes :)

        • @Pobman:
Yeah, that's the page I came across during my initial research.
I was trying to find actual costs… looks like I'll have to call them.

        • +1

          @SuiCid3:

For the purposes of this policy, any cruise that has 3 or more days consecutive at sea will require infants to be 12 months old on the first day of the cruise/CruiseTour.

With all those sea days, it looks like you wont be able to bring anybody under 1 onboard.

  • The rates shown are for a minimum of 2 people, ie. If you look at the pricing for 1 person its considerably more expensive, goes up to $1700 for an outside room.

    • +1

Its always like this when you travel by yourself. Take a friend!

    • +1

Single rates for an inside are still good though.

    • Unable to use website as it is down until next week!
  • are the gratuities are must?

how does the tipping work? and who do you tip?

or is it just better to select gratuities included. gratuities are $300+

    • +2

Tips are added daily and distributed not to the exact staff you interact with but instead go to a 'pool' of staff in each of the different service areas and then distributed evenly. Same goes if you pay your tips in cash. Many people say they pay in cash so they can give it to the person they want, but that person then adds it to the pool and it gets evenly distributed. The system is in place like that so that if one member of staff gets a lot of none tippers they don't lose out and also so the people you don't see get their share too.

The gratuity is basically the salary.

However you can go and remove it if you like, just see guest services.

      • +4

According to various cabin staff I've spoken to on various cruises, gratuities are not distributed evenly and the poorly paid cabin stewards very much appreciate if you tip them. Which is why I prefer to remove the auto gratuity and give mine all to my lucky cabin steward myself.

        • +1

Leaving your dining staff unpaid? That's not an 'even' distribution either.

        • @odysseus: Life's not fair, I hear you. Interestingly the dining staff I've met are some of the happiest people on each ship.

        • +1

The above was for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity … other lines will work in other ways, in particular the local run ones where tips are not standard (i.e. P&O Australia, Princess Australia and Carnival Australia).

    • +2

Easier to select gratuities included as you don't have to worry about anything. If you don't you tip your room attendant, waiter and assistant waiter I believe.

  • It comes to $1598 for two not including prepaid tips $319.20. What have i done wrong?.

    • I came up with the same price.

  • I believe all charges on the ship are in USD.

    • Have deleted my original comment since just realised you WEREN'T saying the cruise fare was in USD :)

  • Ships broken

"We are upgrading and improving our reservation system this weekend to create a better guest experience for you. We will be unable to show or make changes to reservations during this time. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope you?ll visit again soon to continue planning your vacation."

    • Ship got OzBargained?

  • +1

The upgrade to provide a Flow Rider down the back is a great one. This is something that RCCL are gradually installing on their larger ships that dont already have it and from experience it is really good.
All prices are in USD on the ship unlike P&O Australia etc.
Gratuities are either pre-paid before you get on or if not then they are automatically added to your account. You can request at Guest Services to have the amount adjusted up or down if you feel the gratuity does not reflect the service you get.

  • +2

I pre pay my tips and always tip my room steward an extra $US50 on the first day of the cruise, and any $US I have left over on the last day, they look after me great for my entire stay and I think they work really hard.

  • +1

Something to consider is the USD being used on the ship (for drinks, extras and the like) makes for a potentially expensive trip. Consider the drinks packages if that's your thing.

    • +1

As a regular cruiser, I can highly recommend Rum Runners.

  • +3

Regarding drink prices right now on this cruise you can get the ultimate package for 52AUD a day. so ~$725 pp for the trip. This is a bargain as it includes all premium coffees, fresh juices, waters, mock-tails, all standard and premium alcoholic drinks beer/wine/cocktails/standard spirits/premium spirits (not super premium 30$ a glass stuff), a free bottle of bubbles per cabin and moe/chandon bubbles unlimited by the glass, and the 52$ price includes 18% gratuities so you dont have to worry about the auto 15% gratuities added to each drink. the normal price for this package is 65USD or ~85AUD.

Apparently prices of all drinks went up by up to 40% on the first of march making this price even better. It may be a price error and gets reversed but may be a pre order price or just a good deal since its a 14 day cruise with lots of at sea days.

The current bargain prices on the cabins and the drinks package would make for an amazing time away at sea if you can manage to run off for two weeks last minute and you enjoying getting drunk. If you are young, can afford the late notice and time off, have the money, haven't been on a cruise before and enjoy getting drunk you will have an amazing time!

Man… cruising appears to have their own damn financial system going…

  • +3

Don't forget the flight back from Singapore!

  • +5

What's the only ship not to set sail out of Fremantle?
    The Premier-Ship

  • +1

Not possible to fly back to Perth on 15th April unless you pay $588 with Jetstar, while Scoot is soldout. Why why why ?

  • +6

Probably because there's a boat load of people from Perth being dumped there.
For flights home you can go
    Singapore -> Bali
    Bali-> Perth

For example you could fly on jet star(15:10) using a price match with the air asia flight at 16:00 on the 15th for 110SGD -10% +jet star luggage fee. at a guess something like $130AUD. Then fly 2:30AM on the morning of the 16th for ~160AUD with jet star. $300 to get home is not to bad, not very nice flights tho.

You could stay for 6 days in Bali to detox and fly home on the following Tuesday for 880,000IDR-10% price matching air asia again with jetstar and pick what ever flight of jetstars on that Tuesday since its international not intra-asia. Cost would be around $110AUD at a guess. Wednesday also has cheap flights and a comfy 11:45AM flight slot if you would prefer an extra day in Bali and 11:45 departure.

    • I logged in just to upvote you buddy. Why the hell did you get neg'd?!

  • Looks like the cheaper Interior cabins arent available anymore

  • They are still available at the time of this post.

  • +1

Amazing value. You can choose for actual stateroom for $100 extra per person ($839 instead of $739) which is fantastic value to know which stateroom you have . Includes gratuities so you can have unlimited 24 hour room service (normally there is a tip of about $3.50 per person required at night for room service) . Wish I had 2 weeks off to go.

    • Interesting. Normally cruise lines charge a fixed gratuity for drinks too, unless you're on a package.

      • Room Service is food and tea/coffee/water milk only. RCCL do not serve drinks to your cabin free.

        • So you'll still be up for additional gratuities when purchasing drinks at bars & restaurants, regardless of opting to prepay gratuities when booking your cruise?
