Sorry, I don't agree with your views that it's immoral yo sign up and cancel just to get $100. They're in this for the money and they knew the risks. They should've done the forecast on how many people woould sign up just for the gift card.

You don't speak on behalf of me and I approve eastern culture's posting and recommendation as it's legal and within our rights to do so. It's not stealing and no different at all with credit cards deals rewarding QFF points for sign up.

      • Wow, overreact much? I never mentioned stealing, you did. Perhaps it's your guilty conscience? I don't believe that acting in this manner will get you ahead in life, but hey, it's your life.

I don't believe that because something is legal, it's necessarily moral. I stand by my statement that although this is a deal, the advice to join and then leave just to 'grab the cash' is a poor way to live ones life.

        • na, real insurance still gain from us leaving.
They get exposure, and some Ozbargainers may find that the cover and peace of mind is worthwhile and stay on the policy.

How are we supposed to know if we don't join up in the first place. It gives Real the CHANCE to convert some potential customers. That's what they're paying for…

Whats the link to this coles deal?

  • If you're looking for car insurance, Woolworths car insurance was also offering a $100 Woolworths gift card for new signups.

    • that was a while ago, not recently, got 3 gift cards out of that..

    • Yep, December 2014 was when I signed up.

OP, do you sell life insurance in real life? You just.. too good at it.

  • changeof mind..must be going soft in my old age

They must be wondering why there's a sudden influx of applications from people in their 20s, so concerned about life insurance

  • Seems like they changed policy. The woman over the phone said I have to hold the policy for 6 months before they would send the gift card

    • yes, if you look at the T&C, they were updated on 2 April 2015

just comes to shows how far the power of ozbargain goes

      • It's sad that we now give advice on how to bleed a company, and we force them to take defensive measures in order to protect themselves.

Your advice to join and leave, just in order to claim $100, has forced them to change their policy so that they don't die a death of a thousand cuts.

I hope we don't encourage this behavior on ozbargain any more. This is a great site, and we don't need to lower ourselves just to make a few lousy dollars. It's not the way to get ahead in life.

        • It's sad that we now give advice on how to bleed a company, and we force them to take defensive measures in order to protect themselves.

Its sad how these companies call themselves insurance companies. Many families/individuals have bled & suffered from these companies denying insurance claims for silly reasons

          @easternculture:

That's a separate argument dude. Cmon, would you like it if your company ran this promo to gain new customers and they hit and ran like we're encouraging here? I wouldn't, and I don't reckon you would either. Let's keep this site honourable.

          @AlisonP: agree, separate argument lol

  • anyone got screenshot of T&Cs?

Just called to cancel. They offered me $50 voucher to reconsider. So i said yes

Whoever wants to cancel, send them a signed statement with Policy Number, Name and DOB addressed to Real Insurance and email it to [email protected]

Then call them and request cancellation. They will forward your request to Customer Service Team.

I got my call back within 1 hr.

Then also confirmed im eligible for the $100 GC

    • Awesome mate thanks for the info. The lady I spoke with also offered me a $50 gift card on the condition that I kept the policy for another 2 months, suffice to say I declined. she also mentioned that I would need to include the date in the cancelation request so I hope that helps as well. Seems like only yesterday that I took out this policy…how time flies:)

      • She did say i need to say yes to holding the policy for 2 months so she can authorize the request for a $50 Gift card. However, she also mentioned there is no strings attached so i could still cancel anytime . Im happy to take that risk for an extra $4 fortnightly premium payment :)

        • True, I almost kept the policy for another fortnight as well, just to make sure I was eligible for the $100. Good work on the $50 btw, I'm guessing that the're hoping you forgot to cancel.

    • The lady informed me that you need to keep the policy for another 2 months to get the $50 voucher.

      • No. You have to verbally confirm that on the recording for her to authorise The gift card but it's not committing

        • I'd rather not take the risk, she said i have to wait 2 months extra, rather just cancel before they smell the fish

        • @eXtremist:

          Recieved my bonus $50 voucher

All in total $150 vouchers for $30

  • cancelled one day too early. DOH!

    fail ozbargaining

    • Dude, dude, dude that's why you ask if you can double check your eligibility when you talk to the operator.

      • +1

well i knew i was gonna get it if i did my maths correctly so i didnt. but turns out i used my policy start date instead of first premium date (there was one day delay) to do my maths.

oh well…. better stay on the ball for my NAB and AMEX policies ;)

    • check your bank statement for when the first payment was taken and when the last payment was taken, then use the following link to calculate how many days there are..

      http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

when i cancelled the lady tried to fool me into thinking i cancelled a day early, i proved her wrong using this method..

      • no it was my fault. I assumed the premium was taken the same day I signed up. but it turned out to be a day after.

but yeh, I'll doubel check since they sneaky as u say

        • when you cancel, they would have said "we will take 1 more payment" then the policy will auto cancel so really the policy ends after this payment is taken, sooooo.. its from your first payment to your last.. these guys are shifty (profanity).

  • Any one received the $100 card? I made four payments and cacelled it early May. No card yet.

    • Nope, no card. The T's & C's said 6 weeks from memory.

  • I have been dealt with Real Insurance, despite if $100 Eftpos card promotion, dealing with them is difficult as they don't keep their word especially after you been dealing with more than one customer representatives.

    • make sure you have everything in writing.

  • Reopening comments by user request.

  • So did anyone actually receive their gift card yet? I haven't :(

It's been more than 6 weeks so I'm guessing I might need to chase them up…

  • No I haven't either

  • I recieved it but had to call them

  • I got mine..

  • Received mine

  • Haven't received mine. They claimed I had to maintain the policy for 6 months. When I stated 40 days, they said they need to investigate. I expect their call within the next 48 hours.

  • Had to call them to get the 100 dlrs, no problem with the 50. Trying to close now, sent a closure letter this afro, someone with syd number called me but unable to close the acct. said someone will call me in 30 mins. Have waited for almost an hour but no call yet
