LG G3 Dual Sim 32GB, 3GB RAM, Micro SD Card Slot, LTE $442.26 Black, White or Gold at Kogan eBay

830
CTECH20

Seem like a good deal for a dual sim active high end phone from LG, too bad my LG G2 and Note 3 is still working perfectly, so I am not buying one ATM.

Part of the eBay 20% off tech deal

  • nice deal, kogans got the single sim version at $447.20 (after code) so this could be a sweet mistake

    • Bear in mind that you lose wireless charging with the dual sim. The single one still better imho.

      • +1

ahhh I didn't know that, good price for both variants I suppose

      • +2

Depends if you prefer having wireless charge ability to carrying one phone for both work and personal calls.

        • +1

          Totally depend on the needs.

Non eBay version is $ 519 as opposed to $552. Off course with the earlier price you can't apply the 20% discount. It shiuldybe a lot cheaper than $442.

    Double standards I say. :(

    • +3

It's understandable seeing as ebay takes quite a substantial cut.

  • +2

The white G3 16gb (IIRC only difference is 2gb vs 3gb ram) is ~390 after the discount which is pretty damn cheap.

    • Does it have an sd card slot? If not having 16gb nonexpandable is kinda a big negative when you realise a considerable amount is reserved for system storage.

      • +1

it's expandable just like the bigger version (up to 128gb sd card)

    • +1

Can you post a link? Thanks

    • +2

There are reports the 3GB of ram makes a difference cos of the QHD screen. I dont know enough, but might be worth looking in to.

      • +1

Yeah I have 2gb on my phone and 3gb on my tablet, both running 4.2 and both 1080p. That extra gig of ram makes a huge difference in general usage, huge. Well worth the $60 odd extra I reckon. And this is before even considering future ROMs.

        • -1

you can't compare it like that really. 2 different devices, they wouldn't have identical specs. from my testing 3gb makes zero difference over 2gb. androids memory management is pretty good.

        • +2

          @xEnt: I have both a 16gb and 32gb G3 - it really is so marginal you wouldn't notice it.

  • Is the second sim GSM only? Isn't that network getting phased out next year?

    • By the end of next year for Telstra, presumably similar times for Optus/vodafone so yeah, not a great option

  • +2

They jack up all the price today, WTF.

  • Is there any reason to get the 32gb standard (non-dual sim) over 16gb? This phone takes memory cards so you can easily add external storage through cheap microSD card

    • +7

3GB RAM on 32GB ver vs 2GB RAM only on 16GB ver.

  • +1

I bought this from kogan few months ago. Really nice phone for this price.

FYI, Second sim slot is only 2G.

No wireless charging in this model.

If you are on call on one of the sim, you dont receive call waiting if someone calls on the other sim.

  • +4

This one is cheaper than the single sim version because of the lack of some 4G bands (it supports 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600). Lacking 700 and 850 but I guess not too much of a big deal.

    • +1

i believe 850 is quite useful for voda and 700 is definitely useful for optus/telstra as they're expanding that freq.

      • +1

Yeah I do believe both Telstra and Optus are aggressively rolling out 700, and Voda is doing 850. With that said, I'm pretty sure with just 1800+2300 is completely fine if with Optus, Telstra would be usable if you have 1800+2100+2600, and Voda 1800 is fine…. for now.

        • I dont see why one would want to get this version though unless they really needed dual sim. It's a clear disadvantage because of missing the crucial 4G bands.

        • +1

@markopolo: to me the 1gb of missing ram is a clear disadvantage.

  • +4

OP Sorry but the colours available is Black and Blue, no white and gold.

  • G3 or the Note 4 for 200 bucks more? Currently on the Optimus G and looking for an upgrade

  • +1

Always jacking up price before discounts…

Is Kogan still sending out open-box phones?

  • +2

I ordered the single-SIM 32GB model in black for $447

    What about Black and Blue?

EDIT: Someone beat me to it!!

  • I might be returning mine, god damn the phone heats up so easily plus battery is so bad - that's not good for the long run.

    • Yup, can report same here. On third device. Please everyone, just stay away. There is a reason this thing is hundreds cheaper than the other flagships. Avoid!

  • I'm having a little buyers remorse on this instead of getting a local note 4. I also got the dual sim not realising the second SIM was only 2g. Is it easy enough to cancel your order?

    • Yes, make sure you contact them asap though before they ship it out. I cancelled my order on the note 4 today and got one from tggs instead

  • +3

Just thought I would share my experience in the g3 for anyone interested. I have been through 2 x g3s and I personally think my older g2 is a better phone as in regards to reliability. Common issues I had were poor battery life, over heating, phone randomly turning it's self on and off, being laggy and unresponsive for 2 minutes etc. Gps not working or keeping connection constantly. Poor voice calls, well people often claimed they couldn't hear me. So personally I would advise against getting one or go the older g2 which can be purchased for cheaper then this at moment

    • I ended up cancelling my order and going for a local bought Note 4 based on some of these comments. My G2 is a brilliant phone, but the QC on it is a bit crap. Hope LG can improve in this regard.

  • BTW, can you claim TRS refund (10% GST ) if you go overseas if you buy this one from e-bay?
Not sure if Kogan HK- based product can be claimed or not…..A bit of guide will be really helpful

  • Don't forget that you can claim 10% more with TRS refund from GST. Not so sure if you can do this through ebay , but I guess you can.
AirAsia currently on promo to overseas , might take it with yours and have your holiday as well.

    • I think no GST if it is a grey import.

      • Oopsy , my bad. Almost forgot that it's not DickSmith or TheGoodGuys which I think have 10% GST. Just got official respond from kogan ebay as well.

        ===================================================================
        Hi rodinthink,

        Thank you for your email.

This item is supplied by Kogan HK (Hong Kong) Limited, and as such, GST is not applicable.

Your purchase will therefore not be applicable to the TRS.

        Kindest regards,

        Emily"

BTW, Do you think that I can claim TRS refund for this MSI GTX 970 from PCcaseGear via ebay?
As far as I know if you bought it from the store directly PCcaseGear.com, they will briefly mention 10% GST in the invoice. Not so sure about their new E-bay store. Anyway any purchase you bought from e-bay doesn't mention any GST 10% in both ebay purchase history or paypal account. Weird….

  • Anyone received theirs yet? How can i expect Kogan to take to deliver?
Got an email saying they'd processed the order 2 weeks ago but nothing since.

    • Mine arrived yesterday but I was out. Its being redelivered today. Ordered on the 29th. Other people on wp also got theirs yesterday and were home. Nobody so far got the shipping notification from kogan, so it was just luck that people were home. Not sure why kogan have dropped the ball on the notification.

  • I got mine Monday (delivered by Toll priority)…I had called Kogan and they gave me the tracking number on Sunday, and I got the shipping details email monday morning.

2 weeks on the dot pretty much, but there were holidays of almost a week in that time too.

Phone is in good condition (definitely brand new with all seals and wraps intact) and because the charger in the box plugs into Asian sockets, Kogan bundled an extra charger…

    • Was there a seal on the actual box though? Mine had no seal on the box, but the phone and accessories inside were all sealed/wraped.

      • Same. Box itself didn't have a seal (and no sign it was removed either…those "check contents if broken" seals are not easily removable without leaving some sort of scratches/residue on the box).

You can also check your battery…my battery says it's manufactured in March 2015 (inside the rectangular box on the side of the battery with the text, it says 2015.03.04) , so quite a fresh production batch it seems…

        • Yep same battery as mine.

In other news… OMFG the screen on this phone is gorgeous. And the battery life is noticably better than my previous galaxy s4 active.

  • I have received my phone as well but noticed that it is yellow tinted (warm tint), anyone noticed that or is it just me?
