  • @happychappy1 -
It has improved from the last update for me too,but its still not 100% .It lost the signal once today in a 1 hour drive(compared to 2 or 3 times earlier).

  • Anyone still waiting on their phone? I purchased on 7 April 15 and every time I call up they say not sure of ETA.

    • Yep from the 4th. Is your local store showing any stock? I finally rang up yesterday and today they sent me a e-mail saying my item is on back order. So much for them saying they would transfer stock from another store. There is definitely stock available!

Got mine yesterday after many calls and internet chats to Harvey Norman.

If you don't get yours soon, may want to do the same.

If your not to fussed what phone you get, you could even try and negotiate another phone.

Harvey Norman to their credit were very good in offering me other phones in place, some not so good, the others fairly good.

But I wanted the sim and I promised the phone to someone so I waited and it was worth it.

It's a good phone and was easy to unlock.

What was the best phone they offered instead? I can't see them offering anything as good.

        • @Stingo:
They offered me any phone they had advertised for under $99, which is good, seeing I only paid $40, but none of the phone were as good as the Huawai Ascend, better brands, but lesser phones. I chose to wait, but if you keen on any other phone, worth a try, at least then you get a phone in hand today as opposed to sometime in the future.

        • Shifty bastards. The phone they offer is supposed to be equivalent or better - see their rain check policy linked in one of my earlier comments.

    • Purchased my on the 3rd of April and still waiting. Last week they told me they will get stock from another store. And this week they are waiting for stock from the manufacturer. He said I'll probably get my in a couple of days or next week.

      • They're lying bastards. As I wrote above they told me they'd get stock from another store after I finally rang them after hearing nothing from them for almost 2 weeks (because I'd selected delivery), the day after I got an email saying my item was on back-order. Um, couldn't they have back ordered and diverted my order to a store before I got in contact with them? They could have always have canceled it later. Lying useless bastards. You can't believe a thing they say. On a positive note the arrivals of new stocks at your pick up store may be quicker than getting stock transferred from another store, if that is outside the control of HN. I see stock is getting closer to me, it looks like what could be my 2nd closest store has stock.

Can you go to another store to pick up your order? Not that I'm planning on doing that, its just that I'm feeling ornery.

I'm gonna think long and hard before ordering from HN again but $9 is $9.

        • They called me yesterday. And they are going to send it by post.

        • Weird, they insisted it has to be picked up and that deliveries were accidents. Mine is waiting for me now.

  • on gsmarena is says the bluetooth specs for the Y550 are "v4.0, A2DP, LE". am i right in saying that this phone is compatible with fitness bands?

  • just a note: apparently if you update the latest official rom firmware then you might be able to flashing TWRP might not work (broken?) http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/to-root-huawei-… . you can still root the device by booting off twrp but not flash a working twrp image

  • just checked and in store at mu local HN.

wasnt ready to upgrade my phone and i am still using and happy with my samsung ace 2. thing is i have just ordered a mi fit band …. thanks ozbargin!! and i dont think it will work with my old mobile

question is, will the mi band work of with the huawei?

needs bluetooth 4.0 and android 4.4

    • my (limited) understanding is it requires the low energy bluetooth + 4.4. the specs for the phone ("v4.0, A2DP, LE") suggest it is compatible (i think)

I just tried my mi band. It works fine.
But the mi account was funny. It wouldn't take my login which I had used previously from an iPad.
Had to create a new account. And they don't let you create an account with an email. You need a mobile number for them to SMS.

This is a good phone, I've played some 3d games on it that other phones have struggled with and it's fine. I've ordered another one.

  • thanks….looks like it should work ok if its v4.0.
Just ordered one for me and the missus anyway. about time we both upgraded our phones.
$40 each with the codes should be able to pick up this afternoon.
