nice but what is the point of having a VPN if you're not going to download ?

    • +2

people were using VPN's to log into Netflix US

Surely a free DNS service like TVunblock is better if your only concerned with geo-blocks

    • I use it to access content in countries that require a foreign IP.

I dont download torrents. I Stream TV shows/movies through host websites so its completely legal , i think :o

Not sure how legal that actually is. Though I doubt anyone will stop you and it certainly doesn't bother me.
Netflix don't necessarily have the license to charge for and stream that content to you in this country (the reason they region block you in the first place).

Choice advocated people use measures to bypass Geo-blocking.

Well it's not Illegal according to a blog post by Malcolm Turbull (which has now gone missing)

          From
          http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache%3Ahttp%…

Q: Many Australians use a VPN to access Netflix in the US. Is it illegal for me to use a VPN to access Netflix?

The Copyright Act does not make it illegal to use a VPN to access overseas content.
While content providers often have in place international commercial arrangements to protect copyright in different countries or regions, which can result in ‘geoblocking’, circumventing this is not illegal under the Copyright Act.

        • @Lukian:
Fully agree with Choice there. Geo-blocking has seriously outstayed its welcome.

You've got to wonder how long this service can last?
But I suppose it's cheap if you just get a year or two out of it

Why pay when so many for free?

  • Does anyone know how fast this is from Aus?

    • about 0.6Mbps for download. It was 1.2mbpm before I turn on the vpn. I am quite ok with this vpn service. They have aus server as well located in Sydney I think.
