  • Are you sure it's not targeted?

    • +1

On the bottom of the linked page, can't be targeted

      • +1

Thanks to Hamza for updating the link

    • +1

      Not targeted.

  • +1

Good deal, still waiting for my $100 Target gift voucher from the last promo though.

  • It. Doesn't say anything when you go via the link

    • almost at the end of the page.
Should better have a screen shot, just in case they did not honour this offer

  • -2

You can get a lot more than $100 (really worth only $95 since you can get 5% discount gift cards easily) from other credit cards.

    • +1

      Really?
I have never had one but am considering one to build credit score. What others are around with offers like this?

  • +3

hmm..not a bad deal, but keep in mind the wording, it's $100 off a single shop

    • +2

There's also an asterisk on the offer wording, but I can't seem to find the fine-print to which the asterisk makes a reference.

Spending $100 is easy if we could use it to buy gift cards or Opal credit, but is this allowed by the offer terms & conditions ?

      • It's says further in the same passage, "To redeem the Offer you must scan your flybuys card for a minimum spend of $100.05 after savings and discounts in one transaction at Coles Supermarkets and Bi-Lo (excluding smoking/tobacco product purchases, Coles Group gift cards and iTunes cards). The Offer can only be used once and expires on 30th September 2015."

Does that mean you need to spend a total of $200.05 (before using the voucher)???

        • Weird wording. It sounds like that is the case. But it didn't mean that when I got the $50 voucher. I spent $55 and paid $5. So I assume that is how it will work again. Could just be a typo.

"after savings and discounts" probably means normal promo (catalog sales).

  • +4

Sounds good. But decided to keep my credit rating safe for the next CC offer with free QFF points

    • Is applying for too many bad, even if you pay on time etc?

      • yes, you credit score is affected every time an inquiry is made from a bank/credit union to a credit reporting agency. And your score may go down.

  • dayum

i signed up for one of these recently.. but its just for new (profanity) and not old (profanity) hey ?

    sigh

  • +2

I would rather get the anz visa that isnoffering 50000 points. I think 50k points is equivalent to about $250 in gift cards.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

think this is targeted, i applied for the 2 gold class vouchers offer and still waiting for it :|

    • +1

It's not targeted, it's on the bottom of their "Credit card comparison" webpage.

"Get $100 off a single Coles Supermarket shop when you apply and are approved for a Coles MasterCard by 31 May 2015*"

      http://www.colescreditcards.com.au/compare-our-cards

    • gold class vouchers

I think you have the wrong deal

  • any annual fees for this? if so, how does it compare to other CC deals?

    • +1

      No Annual Fee MasterCard

      • any negs for getting this MasterCard then?

        • No …it even has the flybuys barcode on the back so you only have to carry one card.

        • Only neg is that the more cards you apply for to get the benefits the worst you credit rating gets.
Not too sure why it should be like that though, if you always pay your full balance?

        • +2

          @maxi:
Applying for credit cards has only a very small affect on your credit rating..overdue bills do a lot more damage…. www.veda.com.au/yourcreditandidentity/check/credit-file/what…

  • the coles mastercard also had 24 month price protection

"Pays the price difference to your account if an eligible item purchased with your Coles MasterCard reduces in price at the same store within 24 months of purchase."

28 degrees is only 6 months

so with this deal and shoppers protection of 2 years, with no annual fee. makes it a good card to have.

    • I thought you have to pay for the price protection feature

      • its 1% of your total closing balance for the month, but if you pay your credit credit card before your statement date you avoid incuring the 1% charge, i use my 28 degrees this way, when i buy items i suspect will drop in price.

    • Seems to be only 6 months now.

  • So i have received the gold class vouchers today.
does anyone know if i cancel my current card, wait few days and sign up to this deal, would i be eligible? double dipping in other words! :)

  • Can a pensioner get approved for this credit card?

    • Maybe if you only want a small limit

  • -1

I have not received my offer of FlyBuys points after I got the card. Called them so many times, they promised to call back but nothing! So by all means, get this card to use if you want but don't hold your breath on the offers. Polite operators though (and they do keep records of what was discussed).

There are two variants of the card - one is no annual fee while the other one has a fee but you get double Flybuy points.

My experience with this card is that sometimes the points don't get credited into your Flybuys account. There is a delay (30-90 days) and by that time - who's to really bother (your time on the phone, keeping dockets, etc.) 2000 points get you $10. On the fee-free card you have to spend $4000 to get $10 to shop.

The online billing is terrible. It says Supermarket Purchase $15.50 rather than Coles Sydney $15.50. Don't let me go on and rant about international purchases - cryptic at best: think micro billing.

  • On the fee-free card you have to spend $4000 to get $10 to shop.

    Incorrect…

  • Went through the whole application process only to be shipped with a friggin Rewards Mastercard which has the $49 yearly fee. i thought i might of Pebkac'ed it so i went back to see what i did wrong. THE WHOLE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR BOTH IS EXACTLY THE SAME!!!!!. There's no way to choose the difference between the 2.
you click on no annual fee credit card and the rewards credit card in which the window ops up saying the exact same thing!. rageeeeee

  • Did anyone that successfully applied for a card even receive their flybuy card yet? I haven't..

    • +1

The flybuys barcode is printed on the back of the MC.

      • Ahh, so any idea how to claim the $100 off?

        • with a flybuys account will receive $100 off a single Coles Supermarket shop (“Offer”). The Offer will be activated on your flybuys account and available for use within 3 weeks of your card approval date. This Offer will only be activated on the flybuys card quoted in the application process. To redeem the Offer you must scan your flybuys card for a minimum spend of $100.05 after savings and discounts in one transaction at Coles Supermarkets and Bi-Lo (excluding smoking/tobacco product purchases, Coles Group gift cards and iTunes cards). The Offer can only be used once and expires on 30th September 2015.

  • Just wondering if anyone has tried to pay their Coles credit card bill at Target with the ING paywave so you get 2% back as well?

    • Can't pay credit with credit (and paywave is always credit)

  • Just received an email from Wesfarmers today advising that they're exercising a call option to purchase the 50% of shares GE Finance holds in the Coles MasterCard venture (Wesfarmers/Coles already own the other 50%). They're expecting the transaction to be finalised this year and then the Coles MasterCard operation will be solely owned and run by Coles. Wonder if this will affect any of the perks of the card such as the 24-month purchase protection "Account Cover Plus") option?

  • I'd like to know if anyone has actually claimed this offer? I joined and have gotten my first statement so I thought should be good to claim now, but I did a shop today for about $110 and nothing came off. None of the items I bought were excluded products so I'm just not sure what the go is. Might wait it out a bit and then call them.

    • Did you scan your Flybuys card when you did your shopping?

I signed up for a new Coles MasterCard as well, but actually contacted Flybuys to check whether the offer had been loaded (as the $100 discount is attached to your Flybuys card, not your Mastercard) and they checked with Coles Mastercard and confirmed that the offer was loaded on to my Flybuys card about 2 weeks after my card was approved. I wanted to make sure before I went out and did a big shop at Coles!

if it's been more than 3 weeks since your Mastercard was approved and you did scan your Flybuys card at the register, then you should have received the discount and you'll need to give them a call.

      • Sorry, meant to add that I only received that confirmation this week, and was going to head down to Coles to try it out but then saw your post, so am interested to know if you scanned your Flybuys card but still didn't receive the discount.

I got in touch with Flybuys customer service and enquired regarding this offer "$100 off on single shop", just to be sure its activated as Flybuys website doesn't prompt anything about this offer. He mentioned, the Coles card need to be activated and make a purchase on it so that this offer will be activated on linked flybuys in 3 weeks time. when asked how I will be notified, he said it won't come up on flybuys website and asked me get in touch with customer service after 3 weeks time. So If you are planning to buy in Coles for more than $100 just for availing this offer, then its better to confirm with flybuys customer service (may be after 3 weeks period).

Under the terms and condition in a mail I received (just for FYI),
      "Terms and Conditions
*New customers who are approved for a Coles MasterCard from Sun 12 April to Sun 31 May 2015 with a flybuys account will receive $100 off a single Coles Supermarket shop ("Offer"). Excludes Coles Express, Coles Local and Coles Online."

      • As you quoted the terms and condition, it says the off will be activated to the FB acct and available for use within 2 weeks of CARD APPROVAL DATE, it didnt say the mastercard needed to be activated nor use the mastercard. Did you question the flybuys staff over the phone?

I applied the card and got approved 2 weeks ago, I didnt go to coles make a purchase >$100 yet, was thinking to wait another 1 more week, but base on what you were told from flybuys, it would be unacceptable.

Has anyone ever sucessfully claimed the $100discount can share their experience?

  • This deal is back using the code Promo1 ends 30th June. Must have a Flybuys card. Anyone with a Flybys card would probably get the brochure for this anyway.

    • Thanks I will post a fresh one.

and also note the price protection is now only 6 months (not 2 years).

        • Had a poke around and found this…

          Price protection
Pays the price difference to your account if an eligible item purchased with your Coles MasterCard reduces in price at the same store within 24 months of purchase.1

          Merchandise protection
Pays the cost of repair or replacement if an eligible item purchased with your Coles MasterCard is lost, stolen or damaged within 6 months of purchase.

        • Yes, I see that's on the page selling the cards, but when I log into my cards account page then go to the insurance section, it shows only 6 months Price Protection. I'll have to ask them which it is.

  • i was going to sign up to this to compliment my 28 degrees card, but after having the worst experience with coles insurance. i decided against it. I'm not impressed with Wesfarmers/coles and the fact they might own 100% of this card in the future i want nothing to do with them.
