Monopoly 80th Anniversary Ed $30 (Normally $39.99) @ Target (Brimbank Plaza Deer Park VIC 3023)

151

Target currently have 20% off all toys and saw this deal.

This Monopoly edition was $39.99 and scan to $30 but as you can see the tag list it was $25 which is cheapest have I have anywhere. This was a price error by the store and the correct/deal price is $30.

  • Monopoly 80th Anniversary Ed $25

I remember getting the original first edition for my birthday…

    • I remember being gifted a fake, knockoff Monopoly for my birthday :'(

      • Monopory ?

80th anniversary for a game. Lol. What rubbish.
    I'm sure they'll put out 85th, 90th, 95th too.

      I'd be first in line.

  • their online store have it for $30 but i think u can get 20% off with the ilovetarget code making it $24

    • I've tried, doesn't work

This is a price error. The tag refers to the normal Monopoly standard edition.

I looked in two Target stores, both times they were priced at $30.

Did you even read the original post you egg?

The OP is wrong. The stock has been tagged with the price label for the normal Monopoly. See my post above. This post should be deleted. Their is a reason code 5 on the OP's receipt which was most likely the store honouring the price tag mix up.

        • Yes, thank you! This whole "deal" is wrong. If you could call it a deal.

        • False advertising by OP!

      • I did. I was commenting that two stores had a $30 tag, not a $25 tag. This deal is only available on the off chance that the store puts the wrong tag with the item and honours the sale by taking the $5 off. It will be hard to get this deal, even at the OP store of purchase as they probably will have corrected the error now anyway.

You went to 2 stores over $5?

      • ic

      • No actually, I went to one Target store to get a completely different item, which wasn't there (as well as some other items that were). I then went on to a second store to get the item that I couldn't find at the first store and just happened to walk past the Monopoly games at both stores whilst I was there and noticed both had a $30 ticket on them.

Plus who said I would purchase it anyway? I just happened to be in store and just happened to have a peek at what the price ticket said, to see if those two stores had mucked up their ticket prices as well. They hadn't, fyi!

Not disputing that this may be a bargain….BUT…. For those considering inflicting this game on themselves or others I would consider reading this post first:

    http://www.buzzfeed.com/tomchivers/monopoly-sucks#.brjxDyn7v

I've been playing Carcassonne with the family lately (kids are 9 and 12) and it's been great fun - highly recommended!

    • Thanks for the link. Detailed read, and a motherlode of others I wish I knew about earlier.

      What am I talking about…
      FAMILY LAN PARTY!!!

    • Couldn't agree more. There's so many good games that are fun for everyone, aren't likely to run for hours despite a winner being determined after 30 minutes and don't sideline people due to a knock out rule. The Monopoly king making mechanics a complete chore.

If you have four to eight people, 7 Wonders is well worth a look. The article has some other good ones including Ticket To Ride, Porta Rico etc. I don't love Settler of Catan as much as the author of the article at your link does since I find the initial few rounds do impact end game a lot (especially pre game player placement), but even that's neater than Monopoly and there's some mechanics to get it out of a rut if you start poorly.

An alright deal, but I'd probably look at different board games myself having been exposed to differed things these past two years.

  • I hope this is the real edition. I once bought monopoly from a store and found out that all the properties were wrong! I couldn't fine Boardwalk or Park Place anywhere, and I ended up returning the thing to the store, furious.

    • This is the UK edition with Mayfair and Park Lane.
Not sure if many stores in Australia would sell the US version.

      • It's an American game. There is no "US" version, only the "real" version. Australia is not the UK, either.
