I was looking for a good fitness tracker that is fairly cheap and I stumbled upon the Xiaomi Mi Band.

This is one of the lowest prices I could find to get this fitness tracker in Australia.
So if you're looking out for a decent beginner-level tracker, this is one of the best value-for-money wearables to consider.

BTW Battery is supposed to last at least 30 days!!!

It only comes in black, but you can purchase additional bands in various colours.
$2.19 from ebay: www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Ornament-Replacement-TPU-Wrist-Band-…

IT IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH ANDROID
edit; I've been told it works on iPhone via the Mi Fit app - thanks bethanyrae81 (though with less functionality)

Apparently there are hacked APKs which allow you to receive notifications on the tracker from apps like Facebook.
Otherwise you cannot

Also I just realised that you can get a bonus 4.80% Cashback if you make a purchase on Banggood through Cash Rewards!

Just had to charge mine after 61 days, problem was remembering where I left the cable

These are great, seems as though the distance travelled isn't always 100% accurate but the sleep function and daily steps are spot on.

      But is it Genuine?

The packaging that people received is different to that shown on Banggood + some people are reporting their Xiaomi Mi Band was faulty…

I'm going to stick with Banggood for now. Thanks OP bought one now + claimed Cash Rewards :)

      • Looks like xiaomi recently changed the packaging.
        See comment from WalterBiH below.

Yes, there are a few reports of faulty bands, but that deal had over 3000 clicks. It is safe to assume that hundreds of people received working items.

Also, everytime I've had a look at Allbuy for this band, it is listed as SOLD OUT. Doesn't matter how cheap they advertise it if it is never in stock.

      • +3

        It is in stock now.
I ordered the band 3 days ago and they emailed me shipping confirmation the next day.

        • Thanks. Checked again just now and yes, they are in stock again. Cheers - just ordered two.

  • I thought most smartphone has step counter? Of maybe just samsung?

  • how do you know the banggood one isnt a fake?

    • +2

Banggood are usually quite reliable, plus the ratings for the product on their site are very high.

    • +5

Just got my second one delivered from Banggood (ordered 3 weeks ago). It came in the new smaller packaging and it is 100% genuine. You may pay bit extra, but they don't sell fakes.

Easiest way to tell is to see how long the battery lasts. My wife's one (the first one ordered), drops to ~35% after 30 days!
Mine has been drioping at about 3% a day, but I use it's alarm function and have notifications on from SMS, calls and e-mails (so it's often vibrating).

Just make sure you use Tweaked English app with notifications working for all Android phones:

      Also available from XDA:

      • +3

thanks. seems like there is a strong development community behind it.

        • +2

          ordered!

      • I understand that it only works on android 4.4 up

  • +3

I have one of theses- there is an iPhone app in the app store that works great called Mi Fit

  • +1

the gearbest deal posted earlier is cheaper http://www.gearbest.com/smart-watches/pp_126026.html

    • +1

the gearbest one should be legit too right?

  • +1

These are really good value, but I find it undercounts my steps by 10-15% (I've been step-counting with various devices for about three years, so I have a good grasp on how far certain routes are.)

  • +1

Fyi - iphone app only does phone ringing notifcation and alarm. Sleep tracker and step count is very useful on the mi band.

Your comment is dupe anyway so you are the one that should get negged!

go read OZB wiki, thats why!

        • +1

Suit yourself, for $4.35 I'd certainly buy the one I know is real and works.

          3.40 USD = 4.34505 AUD (@ Mid-market rates: 2015-04-25 06:59 UTC)

        • -1

          @WalterBiH:
changing currency to aud ends up being $5.05 cheaper and I didn't neg you

        • +1

          @pal:

Funny, I didn't neg you either - but somehow we managed to pickup heaps of them ;)
Anyhow, good device regardless where you buy it from. Should leave it at that.

Now off to buy some microSD cards :)

      • +2

He does have a reason, which is "not cheapest one available".
Though I guess the line gets bit fuzzy with Xiaomi's since there are chance of them being fake and yaddi yadda.

        • +1

          yaddi yadda

          What feature does this allow?

        • +2

@TightBottom: It allows me to fudge my words around when I cannot be bothered to mention the details :) Such a great feature. Etc allows the same but I personally like how yaddi yadda sounds.

        • says "100% Original Guarantee or Full Refund Promise"

by the way its not something I would care about being fake! I guess XIAOMI started by copying other famous brands technology and this thing is not a big deal so I am 100% positive this one is genuine by XIAOMI!
the reason this brands are very cheap is because they have next to nothing R&D costs, maybe no patent at all! comparing a smartwatch by apple or AOLUGUYA Watch Phone which is also a phone itself for less than $50!
now someone comes and says a company called XYHUZIO is selling fake AOLUGUYA!

        • +4

@pal: I think the problem with the fakes is that they run worse than a genuine Xiaomi product, because they cut cost more than Xiaomi.

        • -1

          @AznMitch:
Ha ha ha, true true, well said that one :)

  • If I already have a smartwatch, will I get much utility from this? Always wanted to get the miband but I'm just thinking that it might end up being in my drawer

    • yup i have gear 1, and it does the step counting.
maybe this one is better due to battery last for 1-2 months!

  • +1

I've been loving my miband, got about 50 days on my first charge and it still had 20% charge.
But then today I went for a long bike ride in the rain and it appears to have died, presumably water ingress.

btw, isn't this just the normal price ?

  • +1

Just ordered one, thinking I should have waited for one that does heart rate too. Is there anything on a similar price range that does?

    Features I'd like:

    Vibration alarm
    Heart rate
Bluetooth (for Android trusted device and comms)
    Basic time display (not important)

  • +1

good deal but I bought this for $20.88 three days ago

  • can someone explain what the hype is with these devices, dont quite get it?

    • For almost anyone, a little more exercise is the best way to improve your health.
      http://www.menshealth.com/health/exercise-medicine

These devices help some people stay motivated, partly by just being more aware of how much exercise they are doing, and partly by a sharing/shaming social mechanism.

  • Does it have heart rate monitor?

    • +1

      For $20?
Cheapest fitness band with rate monitoring starts from $170 - Fitbit Charge HR.

  • I have a huawei g526 phone and it is android 4.1.2. The mifit app does not install on this version of android

    • you need android 4.4 + bluetooth 4.0 LE for it to be compatible, so you need a newer phone

  • I am very satisfied with this device after buying it at the amazing prices of $10 USD delivered from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/185716.

    • How in the hell did I miss that deal?, bugger.
I think I'll wait for a better price.

      • +2

it was at the same price but you could order using an app that gave a 20% discount. you can't get that discount now

        • Cheers, thanks for that.

  • Did anyone receive their band yet? I'm still waiting For mine.

    • +1

Usually takes a couple of weeks when it is shipped from Hong Kong or China, because it is economy shipping.

  • Yup. It's been 2 full weeks, just checking if anyone here got it already l..

  • Not got mine yet either
