Logitech K400R for $19.99 at Australia Post

2140

Seen so many deals on K400R recently but looks like this is far better compared to what posted recently. Looks like normal price in office works so get 5% off on top of it in office work. I bought one from Melbourne and happy to post receipt if anyone need it for price match

Posting a receipt would be fantastic. Did it look like a store special or something wider?

Need something like this for my HTPC. So hopeless trying to use a wireless mouse on the couch. :P

    • If u have an iphone and home wifi try using hipporemote… Never use the mouse for htpc again

      • No iPhone but we have a lounge room iPad…wonder if it'd work. I still think I'd prefer something simpler like this AIO keyboard - housemates aren't as technically literate :p

    • not sure but from price tag it does not look like on special. It was not in the clearance section as well.

      • I installed Unified Remote and it works great for me so I ended up buying the Full version. I finally find something worth buying with my free reward credit. Thanks ozhunter.

  • Wow! That's an incredible price. I thought I'd got it cheap for $28 a while ago.

  • Where in Melbourne? CBD? Receipt would be appreciated.

    • +2

I bought it from Auspost in Collins street probably close to junction of Collins and William on Collins street

      • Thanks, will have a look tomorrow

This keyboard is the the new Ozbargain trend.
    Nice username bizzaro Ozbargain

We need somewhere to put those Eneloops…

I have one of these, the mouse pad and the buttons are terrible, hit and miss when they work n when they dont…

    • I have two of these (one is the non-"r" version). They are the best thing i've bought, one in each lounge room. I've had one of them for several years without an issue.

      • dunno what an R n non R version is … just saying mine sometimes you have to pretty much punch the button for it to work, and i BARELY ever used it.. very very very rarely :) glad yours is ok

        • R version was made after win8 came out so it is windows 8 "compatible".
No real difference other than that. Both should work all the same.

        • +6

I thought the R version was when you use the keyboard - lights off - on your own - late at night

        • @gawky: The non-R version's F-keys are standard F-keys with secondary functions like play/pause/etc. The R version has it reversed - you have to press the Fn button to use F1 F2 F3 etc.

    • +3

I have two of these and no problems using the mouse and buttons on either. Not sure if distance/range is an issue with these? I'm using mine about 5m away.

      • no its not distance, just the buttons or tapping the pad :) using it now temporarily with a pc about 50 cm away hehehe same problem.. its my spare when i have no choice keyboars/mouse :) hehehe

        • Most likely then you have a faulty one try to get replacement for it?

    • +2

I have had one for 2 years plus and works perfectly. Try new batteries - there is nothing wrong with these units.

      • +1

please read below various other comments on the quality.. :) its hit and miss.. some are good some are not… just pointing it out, again glad yours are fine :)

        • +1

I mean there is nothing inherently wrong with these units - like eveything else its an issue of quality control…sometimes you get bad batches and you will need to exchange until you get a working unit

    • They do feel extremely cheap but its about as good as you can get at the moment for a compact htpc keyboard and mouse combo.

  • +1

Got it from shoppingexpress 4 months ago for $35 delivered and thought it was a good price. This price is incredible.

  • +1

Be aware this keyboard is janky as hell. Nice cause it's cheap, but the trackpad sometimes refuses to work till you scrub half your fingers off on your shirt. Also sometimes it just pushes random buttons instead of the ones you want.

    • +3

Mine works fine with my htpc. No issues so far.

      • The touchpad can be a bit temperamental, but there's nothing similar in this price range for a decent wireless combo.

I usually get the buttons (keys?) I want, but it's nothing like a mechanical keyboard.

        • +2

but there's nothing similar in this price range for a decent wireless combo.

I prefer the $9 Microsoft All In One Media Keyboard. It feels more solid than my K400, the touchpad is larger, and the more spaced-out keys makes it easier to type.

The cashback will probably only come back next year though!

        • +1

@eug: Thanks! I'll keep an eye out or PM me when it does, haha.

  • +1

Just make sure you keep your receipt. My first K400 had dodgy left mouse button. But my replacement hasn't had an issue and I've had it for over 2 years.
Even survived being used as an accidental seat.

  • +1

hmm i think this is one of those things i really just dont need that ozbargain makes me buy..

    • Mainly useful if you have a HTPC or want to be productive with tablet or even phone. Not sure if the trackpad works with IOS apple products.

      • How do you use it with a tablet & phone?

        • +1

          OTG cable through micro USB.

      • I think I read a review of it which said it was compatible with apple, but rubbish. If there are any left at my local Aus Post I'll report back after testing it out.

      • Tried it out last night, trackpad and keys work, not sure about mac specific keys though, I also wanted to recalibrate the trackpad because it seems more sluggish than the apple one, but I closed it and couldn't figure out how to get it running again :/

    • +4

I've found that mine works well with Raspberry Pi.

  • Trying to find an excuse as to why I need one of these…. Good price!

  • Hi OP,

I'm planning to go Officeworks to get this price match. Could you post receipt please?

Last time when I went there, they just don't accept photo of the price on the shelf.

    • +1

    • Thanks OP. I'll give a go!!

  • Saw this one at my local officeworks today when I was looking for the extender. I didn't realise this is on sale as well…

  • On current price trends if I hold out another two months or so, I'll be getting paid to buy one of these :)
    Nice find OP.

  • so this does not connect via bluetooth and you will have to plug in a receiver to work?

    • Receiver only

  • +1

the battery use on these keyboard are pretty good.. I charge them once every 6 months and I use the keyboard every night

  • Great keyboard got 2 of them

    • +3

Were you the bloke in the green business shirt at the Adelaide GPO?

I'm pretty sure we shared a furtive OzBargain glance as we walked past each other. Thanks for leaving one on the shelf for me to buy. :D

      • Ha ha ha no I am not… in Melbourne

        • +2

Haha I was referring to chris666! I know you aren't in Adelaide

        • nah sorry already own the keyboards before this deal

  • +2

My 2x AA battery has lasted 2 years daily use so far… amazing

  • I have no idea why this keyboard is so popular but am tempted to buy one. Anyone care to shed some light on this keyboard so I have an excuse to buy one?

    • +4

It's wireless and has a trackpad for $20.

      • -4

        Thanks Captain Obvious.

    • +6

if u owned a HTPC you wouldn't need to ask

      • -7

Thanks for the informative and useful response to my question. The fact that Im already asking should suggest that to you, or at least prompt you to provide ideas on how such a keyboard could be used. But no, you thought an "oh look at me I know what to do with these keyboards but wont bother sharing anything useful about them and rather just make a smart arse comment" response would be better.

        • It's a keyboard. What do you think people use it for?

        • -4

@ozhunter: Mate, I dont know why you're wasting your time replying when you're not going to provide any useful information.

        • It seems like you don't care about this keyboard nor other people's info given to you. In this case, GIYF!

          @Trishool:

          Google Is Your Friend.

I had to google that actually -_-

          FFS

        • @Trishool: Thanks to your "kind" words, you have earned a negative vote and a report to mod from me. I can't believe a longtime OZBargainer like you could have this bad behavior towards others. You must be trolling so hard. RIP.

    • I have the same problem. Dammit OzBargain

  • does it use the unifying logitech receiver?

  • +1

I've had one of these for a few years now and love it. I've got it connected to my Asustor NAS to control XBMC and it works really well. From memory I paid $30-40 from the logitech shop when it was on special.

  • +5

Price matched at Officeworks no problem. http://imgur.com/dNag8bO.jpg

    • Hello may I ask how you managed this, I just had no luck at Office Works.

      • +1

I picked the keyboard up off the shelf, walked up to the counter, and asked if they could price match Australia Post. I showed the guy OP's photo, he checked the model numbers were the same and said it was fine. Quite simple really. :)

Maybe try asking another staff member at a different time, or if there's another store nearby, try them. If all else fails, go to Australia Post and forego the extra $1 saving. Mind you that'll soon be the price of a stamp…

      • Yea I just went to the counter and showed them the picture of the office works one and they were like cool.

  • None at Melbourne GPO.

For the size of that store, their retail component is pathetic. They cram at least 4x as much stuff into the local store near my house, which is maybe one fifth the size.

  • +1

Hmm I want, but I don't know if I could live with non illuminated keys…

  • I bought one of these years ago to control the PVR in my lounge room. It's great and at $20 it's a bargain.

  • +1

Oh dammit I just bought one of these from the Dick Smith deal yesterday :(

    • me too, will be picking it up 2moro :(

      • wrong, you'll be cancelling tomorrow :)

  • Just got back from Office Works and they refused to price match on a receipt. Oh well.

    • Do you mean ieatcrackers receipt above ?

      • I took both the OPs receipt and ieatcrackers as well, they refused both and said must be in catalogue or online, not a receipt.

        • +3

Just scored one using OPs photo. $18

Said I wanted it for my Apple TV, and he said if it doesn't work to bring it back for a refund.

          Thanks OP

        • @MITM:

Well done, must depend on who you strike in the OW store I guess. Hopefully Post Office still has them tomorrow.

    • +1

Tell them to call the auspost if you are nice and give them the number they usually do it for me.

  • +1

Will soon find out if it works with Apple TV.
    On my way home now.

    • Windows keyboard. Doh

    • Didn't someone check Melbourne GPO already and said nothing there?

    • Yes please let us know if they have any in stock :)

    • I got the last one on the shelf at the Elizabeth SA post office

  • +2

I bought from Good Guys online on Monday! Paid $35.00….Grrrrrr
Sent them a 30 day lowest price guarantee request.
Will keep you guys informed how it goes.
Hopefully they will price match and refund the difference.

    • Any Update?

  • +4

chalk up another $18.95 at Officeworks - thanks to the receipts from ieatcrackers and niagraBzO.
I grabbed one off the shelf, took it to the counter and showed them the image of the Australia post receipt, then showed them the officeworks to reinforce that officeworks were already price matching.
Absolutely no problem, 30 second transaction.

  • nice. i looked in a few post offices in perth… didnt ask for price match.. but no one had it for less than 29…
but i held strong… don't really need it.

    • +7

Nobody really needs 99% of the things on OzB…That's why we're here!

  • This is an excellent keyboard with very long range. I bought two (for full price, around $42) and am very happy.
