$40US Credit for DigitalOcean - Hosting/VPS Service with US, EU and Singapore Datacenters

^PrConf40

I just signed up to Digital Ocean and used this promo code for $40 credit, they make you give Credit Card details first to verify who you are supposedly but its still a nice way to test things out.

Whilst the code doesn't specify, as far I can tell this looks like the type of promo code that should work for everyone (or at least those who haven't redeemed any code previously) and it looks like it has an expiry of June 1st.

It does not combine with the referral program ($10 credit). One or the other, as it seems like they have a system of redeeming one promo for the life of your account.

As far as the product goes they seem to be an ok mix between speed/cost/bandwith if that's what you are looking for, this is pretty hard to find from Australia.

Their $5US a month package includes:

512mb memory
1 core processor
20gb ssd
1tb transfer

It scales up from there with several more plans below $40 and quite a few above that cost per month.

You can conduct speed tests for the various datacenters here

  • I use Digital Ocean for my blogs and it's a great deal for VPS. Much better than shared hosting. You definitely get more than you pay for :-D
Sign-up for sure and use as a sandbox, if you want to just play.

    • +2

DigitalOcean hasn't changed its pricing since it launched almost 4 years ago. Meanwhile it's now possible to get $5/month VPS in Australia, some with even better specification, i.e. Network Presence, especially combining with a coupon code.

      • Thanks for the heads up. My readers tend to be US based at the minute.

  • Don't see why you'd use this over AWS if you we're to go with cloud hosting. I mean if you're just starting it's free for 12 months and once you do get to a use level above free it's cheaper.

    • SSD.

    • When you have already used the 12 months AWS free tier. Also AWS free tier only gives you 15GB/month of data. Might be okay if you are running a blog or two, but not useful if you are using it as a proxy / VPN.

  • Code has expired :(
