  • very good value.

  • Awesome buy! The T500 build quiality is fantastic. My only niggle is the 1680x1050 lcd isn't led back lit and not as bright as some. Other than that I have be completely satisfied with my purchase around Easter time this year.

    • you can customize it to LED backlit just for $30.53 extra, good deal

      • Yes but the backlit is only for WXGA and not the WSXGA+ which is the 1680x1050 mentioned by Blinky.Backlit is good for that price if you don't need the high res

        • But for the 15.4" screen WXGA (1440x900) isn't enough? beoz for WSXGA+ you need to add another $91.58.

          • @onebee: WXGA = 1280x800

Even 1440x900 is for those with poor vision. 1680x1050 on 15 and 1920x1200 of 17 is the way to go. The extra $91 is well worth it! I'd rather spend it on that than say upgrade the hard drive or ram which I can easily get from my local yum cha shop much cheaper than Lenovo. But screens, cpu's video card for lappies you need to decide up front what you want.

  • +1

The ATI card is a Mobility Radeon 3650

  • Is the coupon valid for anything else?? its a pretty sweet coupon

    • It takes $550 off a x200s :P

    • takes $100 off desktops too :-)

  • How do I order this exact model. When I go to the site I only see the more expensive models.

EDIT Just figured it out, simply click on the picture ;)

  • Great Bargain!
    I will order one.
    Thanks

  • The coupon seems to subtract $400 off this product, even after I've made modifications to the order and to add extra warranty.

It might do it to other products, I haven't tried yet though.

  • Now that's a bargain!!

  • Great deal would get the 9 cell battery as well as wxsga+

  • +2

A word of advice for people ordering this laptop, be sure to customise the default configuration from Win7 32bit to Win7 64bit (no additional cost). It would also make good sense to upgrade to 4GB memory (around an extra $80).
The cheapest model T500 also appears to be onboard intel graphics and not a discrete ATI/Nvidia GPU unfortunately.

    • would win7 64bit caught up with incompatible from regular 32bit software?

      • Win7 64 runs both 32 and 64 bit software.
You end up with "Program Files" for 64bit programs
and "Program Files x86" for the 32bit programs but they run just the same.

64bit is definitely the way to go considering the 128bit rumour for Windows 8.
Most New PC software should be 64bit so it makes the most of the many systems with more than 3Gb of ram.

    • Correction, looks like this laptop does have discrete graphics. Makes it an even better deal

  • A $2700 Laptop for $900? This is Ozbargain. Don't post something unless it's less than 25% of RRP!!! But seriously no option to upgrade to Business or Ultimate edition makes it impossible to use in a domain. Still probably one of the best posts of all time.

    • Pity about the lack of Pro or Ultimate Versions. At least you can buy an upgrade direct through MS if necessary. I imagine most home users wont need to join their machine to a domain though.

  • Yep it takes $400 off any configuration or model of the T series laptops that I try.

I just wish I didn't order my T500 Ultimate 2 days ago. Doh!

    • I couldn't get $400 off a T400, are you sure it worked for you?

  • MBC?

  • AWesome deal . I bought one of these Harris Tech for $1150 when they had that clearance 4 months ago .
Very nice lappy . Expect an easy 3.5 hours of battery life surfing . Not super light but lighter than most and very cool and quiet because the ATI card is turned off when not gaming etc ..
I prefer the T400 as it's lighter with excellent battery life with a 6 cell battery , not the standard 3 cell .

  • Nice deal, great specifications, HOWEVER …. SAME UGLY LENOVO DESIGN/BUILD.

  • THanks OP

    Just bought one myself.

  • you know this is for employees only??

    • I am also confused. It says "Australia Employee Purchase Program". Employees of who?

  • Hey, guys.I am afraid this bargain is for AUSTRALIAN LENOVO/IBM EMPLOYEE only. I found it because I tried to log on to my account again, after I registered from the link on Ozbargain page, from the Lenovo Australia Official Website. I, however, was rejected by the system. Then I started to think whether it is a fake website and compare the site from ozbargain link and official site. Then I found the head of the ozbargain page was marked as "Austalian Employee Purchase Program". If you guys also try to roll down your page to the bottom of the "AUPP" page. You will find, in Terms and Conditions, the following:
Eligibility: The following individuals are eligible for the program:

Regular full-time or regular part-time Lenovo and IBM employees with a valid Lenovo or IBM Serial Number
Regular retired, permanently disabled or on-leave-of-absence Lenovo/IBM regular employees
Supplemental & Co-op Employees with a valid Lenovo/IBM Serial Number
Family members and personal friends of the above
Surviving spouses of Lenovo/IBM regular employees
A Lenovo or IBM employee email address or serial number is required for all purchases under the Program.

Sigh…sometimes this huge bargain is just too good to be true…

    • I've ordered one without any problems. No IBM employee ID/email/serial required at all.

    • Well my brother in law works for IBM and everyone who reads this is his friend. Done!

    • Confirmed that I ordered this last night and this morning it is showing they have charged the credit card.

Throughout the process no IBM ID number was require to buy this.

  • then how did some people above buy it?

    • Well, I also successfully placed an order and even paid for it. Call me skeptical but NO ONE HAS ACTUALLY RECEIVED IT.I reckon mostly likely I will be rejected because the condition on the AEPP page says "Lenovo reserves the right to refuse the sale of product(s) or limit quantities for any reason and at any time.

But you know what, I reckon it still deserves a try. I tried to google online and found someone said Australia is the only place where LENOVO doesn't ask for the Lenovo Employee ID to log in when placing orders. So finger crossed we could get this magnificent deal.

Hurry up, guys. Let's do it before Lenovo found us.haha
Just don't be disappointed if we got our orders bounced back.

    • I cancelled an order I placed two days ago and re-ordered the same laptop this morning at about 9am using the coupon code. I have to wait for a management decision on weather or not I get a refund on the amount already paid.

I was ordering through the employees discount site. It's good to know the right people :)

  • Excellent, almost obscene price! Just read the greenguide and stores are selling this laptop for almost $2k!

I purchased one, with the WSXGA+, 320G HDD, 9 cell battery, and a 22inch LCD (which is itself more than 50% off). Hopefully the order goes through.. cause then I can sell the CoTD laptop I bought yesterday!

  • This laptop is one year old though. Came out last year September 2008. Good price none the less.

  • Back up to $1299 ?

    • +1

AUEPPSPENDNSAVE coupon takes $400 off the $1299 price to bring it to $899.

  • Looks like the offer is finished. Clicking on the link takes you to a blank page.

  • I could not find it anymore. Can any one please post the direct link for this deal?

    • Looks like it's gone..
