    Waiting for a 15000mah deal

    • +5

I'd be seriously worried for you if you got a 15000 maH one.

      • Why do you say that? I was thinking about getting 50000 MaH because it has many recharges and would be handy when I go on holidays for phone and e-reader and when I am out and about in Sydney. What do you think of 50000 MaH ones? I did buy one from Ebay but it didn't charge or work. It must have been a fake? I got a refund and the postage back to them but don't want to go through that hassle again! Thanks.

        • Yet another whoosh.

          Xiaomi batteries come in:
          Slim 5k, 10400 and 16000. If you got a 15k one, it's a fake.

      16,000mah - $29.30 shipped - https://www.allbuy.com/detail/7F08014B-C50F-C703-D6D7-630B64…

bought one last week (got mine for ~$28) grabbed one of these too cos why not - https://www.allbuy.com/detail/30A1014C-7EC7-035B-CDE5-8BA0B8…

      • Whoosh.

The joke was you'd be buying a 15k instead of a legit 16k.

$15.99USD at Banggood with Cashrewards, or $15.39 USB at Gearbest sans Cashrewards.

    • +6

when did USB become a currency?

      • How do I edit the comment after someone replied to it already?
Just realised Gearbest does have cashback at Cashrewards.

        • +3

Don't think you can. Otherwise people can change what they say, removing the context from the response.

It came in effect today. On May 5th 2015 Eneloops lost their official status as OPC (OzBargain Preferred Currency) and USB took it's place as rightful as Number One. USB brought with it a complex currency system where the value of the piece was weighted heavily on the technology. A USB3.1 USB-C adapter was now the highest priced commodity - short supply has also drove prices to an all time high.

Purchased from gearbest with cashrewards, thanks!

    • Bought the Xiaomi 16000mAh one on gearbest. Thanks for reminding us about cashrewards!

Btw, I found a discount coupon:(XIAOMI) on cashrewards which is supposed to give you 6% off. When I used the code during checkout, the price jumped higher! Weird… Currency did not change if anyone was wondering.

Link to the discount coupon is "http://www.cashrewards.com.au/gearbest"

I recommend getting a silicon case for these. The edges are not rounded; a case makes them less likely to scratch things.

  • +1

These are awesome. Easily charges up both my 12" rMB and iPhone 6+ on the one charge.

    • 12" rMB? Whats that?

    • you saying the power bank can charge your laptop???

      how come?

      • +1

the new macbook charges via a usb-c port on it. This powerbank could charge it, though I imagine it would take a long time as the actual ac charger pushes more amps through.

        • what does this USB-C do besides allowing charging?

        • @anleizhang:

          USB!

I think it is part of USB3.1. Update: Nope: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#USB_Type-C

        • +1

For the record, according to the wiki article I just read, USB-C maxes out at 3.0A, and this power brick can theoretically do 2.1A, so, it isn't too far off what an ac charger could push.

        • @Marty131: Not quite, "Apple’s included 29W charger can deliver 2A @ 14.5V"
The USB-C spec supports up to 100W, this powerbank can only deliver a max of 10.5W

        • @hellbound: Well spotted. Did not know that voltages other than 5V were supported. Interesting.

  • Anyone know where one of this can be found with a 12v/2amp output? I'm wanting to power some 12v LED lights.

    • +4

None, really. Most USB power banks will only do 5V 2.x amp, so around 10 watt output. You're asking for 12V 2A which is 24 watts, which is quite a bit of output power for portable batteries like this.

I go camping a fair bit and run 12V LED's, but use a portable battery box (like this http://www.arkcorp.com.au/p/3238/power-battery-box) and either car battery or AGM battery.

    • +1

Wire up three power banks in series then run them though two 7812's in parallel.

If you get a couple of extra USB to micro USB cables, three LED's and some resistors you could make a wooden box to plug the power banks into, then remove to charge.

If you want to pay $20 more and save half a day you could get this:
      https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-universal-20000mah-power-…

(don't worry about it being 3.5A, the load, your LED lights, decides how many amps are drawn)

      • I understand wiring them in series part. I would just use two, running the 12v LED at 10v should still be plenty of light. ( 5V usb x 2 = 10v ).

I would like to save the $20, I'm an ozbargainer. :P

Tough one though, the kogan product will give 12v at 3.5amps, which would give me more headroom for the LED lights. I'd be worried that 15v would be too much for the 12v lights. They get kinda warm after a hour as it is.

        Question though,

        1. What's a 7812?
        2. What would I use the resistors for?
        3. Electronics question, If I run two xiaomi powerbanks in series, would I still get a theoretical 2amp at 10V, or would I only get 1amp?
  • Great item, would also recommend getting the LED light. It's bright and is quite useful!

    • Or just use your phone's LED.

      • Wasn't quite suggesting using it as a torch light. Works great in a room and you're working on your laptop etc

      • But, it's awkward to use your phone as a reading light :'(

        • +2

Coming from a guy that is blind as heck, do yourself a favour and turn on some proper lights

        • @smileymiwo: But, I have to stand up to turn the light on :(

I was simply referring to the fact that it's awkward to have the phone LED in one position for a long time unlike the xiaomi external battery/laptop USB port + LED light combination.

        • @AznMitch:

I know, it's just one of those things I have to ask people when they would actually use it.

As a reading light, get something that won't actually ruin your eyes, serious talk now.
As a torch, use your phone.

Had a discussion with a mate that bought one of these, they seem a bit too useless.

  • I am still waiting for mine from the last banggood sale. Expect a few weeks wait to get yours.

  • Can it be used as UPS for any low voltage device? E. G, ip camera, android mini pc, windows mini pc??

    • Can't see why not. Should work with dashcams that have USB power too.

      • what i meant to ask that can we simultaneously charge the powerbank + phone (powered by powerbank)???

        • +1

Yes it's called pass through charging

  • +5

With anodic oxidation technology, the color will keep fresh.

Great…..I'm sick and tired of my powerbanks losing their "freshness of colour".

  • I ordered two 16,000MaH and only 1 came initially. After some back and forth I have just received my 2nd 16,000MaH one today. I'd say they are good on their word but their systems need a bit more improving

  • Thanks ordered one 10400mah from gearbest. Finally gave in and got a "mobile charger" :D

  • What happens when u forget to charger the charger?

  • +1

I bought two a while back, it said original etc but actually fake one. At least they refunded me though

    • I am worried about getting fakes as there seem to be a lot out there.
Where did you buy yours from? This site (banggood)?

  • Has any bought a real one, ie confirmed it was real with the scractch off box code that comes with it on the xiaomi website, there are so many fake ones getting around.

    • I bought two - both are real.

    • I can vouch for ibuygou.com - brought some stuff from there, it's all been original.

  • I've ordered one, is there a way to tell when it arrives if it is real or fake?

    • +1

There's always the verification code you can scratch off and check:

      http://www.mi.com/verify/

And see if it passes these tests:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obYhTgzEVP8

Usually pass-through charging is a dead give away

      • So it should come with a scratchy card in the box? Interesting….thanks.

        • I've bought 2 of these from bang good, both were genuine. You can check it via the code that is on the box (requires you to scratch off the seal to see the code) and then use the mi website to confirm its genuine. I just spoke to the online chat support and asked them to verify it for me.
Prices were good, only concern is long delivery times.

  • Has anyone tested to see how many mAh these really are?

    • Yup, they're 6.4 - 7Ah depending on the load.
      More details here.

  • Can't believe this is cheaper than the empty shell that i bought to reuse my laptop batteries.

  • How's banggood on delivery though?

    • From my previous experience when i purchased, it took 3-4 weeks. I also bought the LED torch from bang good on 20th April and it still hasn't arrived but i don't mind the wait.

  • +1

Bought quite a few things with bangood now (mainly xiaomi packs, LEDs etc) and they are fairly quick to deliver. Got most of my stuff within 2-3 weeks.

  • I bought this back in China, its not bad, good looking and the battery could charge iphone5 for twice
meanwhile, it only 69 RMB (free delivery, $12 ) .

    • +1

So if it only does ur ip5 twice, does that mean its not legit? Shldnt it go 6-7 charges before being emptied?

      • I didn't count how many time it charge. it general for phones
who mention this one is for laptop?
ad says it could charge for iPhone 5s for 4.5 times
i think 3.5 will be fair.

  • -1

After buying way too many power banks, I'm now waiting for QuickCharge-compatible ones, like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Talentcell-Portable-External-10000mAh-…

Looks a lot like the XiaoMi one. I wonder when they'll release one themselves.

  • Jeez thats so much cheaper than any price on eBay!

  • Thanks. I've been waiting to order one of these.

  • $20.69 now. Those who still haven't used the 5% off newsletter promo can bring it down to $19.65.

  • Does anyone know if one of these would power a Logitech s715i iPod speaker? I have the right cable for it.

  • Remember to subscribe for emails to get an extra 5% off, plus 4.80% cashback from cashrewards!! Can't go wrong with this price!!

  • Even lower… $19.91 now. So $18.91 with newsletter promo code or $18.95 with cash rewards

Don't think both cash rewards and 5% newsletter promo can stack together as per Stuckster's comment here & also under the General Cashback Guidelines here

  • Received today :D

  • Anyone else still waiting on theirs? Ordered May 5th and it's now the 8th of June.

    • Bahhhh, should have waited 1 more day, arrived today! :D
