    That't quick… I was wondering I will post it… :-)

  • It's already 30% off, can someone confirm it's 40% off the USD $33.17 price or the before price

    • +1

No, its 40% off the full price of $47.40 USD

With discount its about ~AUD$36 (with PayPal)

      • You sure?

The $47.40 is $3.95 * 12. When they say save 30% it sounds like their saying save 30% by buying 12 months rather than 12 one month subscriptions. So wouldn't the discount be 40% off $33.18?

        • @neil:
Oh, thanks! Sorry for the wrong info.

  • Does this include the VPN?

    • Says this on their twitter page: "Encrypt & Secure Your Internet Traffic with Getflix #FullVPN. It's #free for all subscribed accounts. #vpn #smartdns pic.twitter.com/pLD9uwCosY"

      Free for all subscribed accounts.

      • Thanks, i read this after posting,

  • +1

does it work with us netflix anymore?

    • +5

      Works fine, using it here.

      • +1

        sweet!!!

    • +1

Works for me too. Another very happy customer of Getflix.

    • +1

Works with all regions of Netflix. Hardly watch US Netflix, UK has some really good shows.

      • Moreflicks is great for searching through all regions of Netflix for a specific title.

        • +1

Easy to use on the Aus Netflix to watch US/UK TV?
I have my Aus Netflix is currently running through an app on my smart TV..

        • @cristobaljames:

If it's a Samsung, you can download BBC iPlayer, ITV, 4oD etc and watch directly from there. To answer yr q, yes you can also watch UK series on NFUK.

        • Thanks for the tip, wasn't aware of that site, very useful.

Edit: just had a look at the site and Better Call Saul is not listed as available on Netflix though I watched it on UK Netflix….hmmmm

  • +3

With the subscription I already have it was $17.64 AUD to get another 12 months, when I used the 40% off code

    • is that a targeted offer? Currently using their 14 day trial.

Since I only have fast enough internet access on weekends (Thanks Vodafone unlimited weekend data) I can't make use of the service other than on weekends and only guaranteed for a few more months so am reluctant to pay too much for 12 months.

      • didn't the unlimited weekends end 28 April?

        • No was extended again now it's the start of August (unless they extend again)

        • @Japius:

ah ok.. might have to get on the bandwagon for that.

    • Hmm… Is it that price only for currently subscribed members?

      • I joined up when they first offered 30% off, about a year ago, as my subscription would have run out on the 29th of this month, if not for this deal, thanks ozbargainers

      • I believe they lock in renewal prices so older members can renew at their existing rates. They raised the price in the past 6 months at some point, and I believe some time ago they were cheaper still.

Doesn't help new members until they come to renew in 12 months.

        • Ah I see. I guess it would be better to subscribe to something like uflix (AUD2/mth) for new members :(

    • Yup did the exact same thing. Looks like it will come out on the 30th of May at that price which is awesome. Money well spent especially once this VPN part is needed.

    • Same here. 15% discount already applied on account for liking on Facebook PLUS the 40% off for Mother's Day.

      • What is the code for the 15%? I liked on Fb but didnt see any code

        • Sadly due to Facebook policy change they no longer offer it.

          From their website…
Is there a discount for liking your Facebook page?

We did offer this in the past, however, Facebook no longer allow incentives for page likes so we had to remove this discount. Instead, we have increased our 3, 6 and 12 month discounts!

    • They lock in prices as long you are subscribed, as smigit mentioned. I'm on $ 17.64 annual renewal as well

      • me2

      • Hopefully uflix 12 will be on annual renewal. If not, will see what's new

    • Yep. Same here. Paid to get in early.

  • I don't think its targeted, as I never received any email from them about it and it worked for me

  • +1

Anyone used their VPN? Any good?

    • +1

A friend of mine told me it was incredibly slow, but i cant confirm

      • I'm currently using & haven't noticed any speed drop- however, I haven't done any tests, just observations.

    • if I had a guess I would say its about 10% or so slower, with the VPN. I am in country Victoria and my VPN is in Melbourne, it may depend how far way from you the GetFlix server is

    • I am quite happy with it. I get speed around 400-800Kb these days :)

The only problem is it drops out quite often, almost every 20-30min.

    • +1

I found it very slow. Nice that it's included in the package, but if you're specifically after a VPN, probably want to look elsewhere.

    • It seems to vary a lot for me. One day it was extremely fast, another day it was average. You do have the choice of lots of different VPNs to connect to, in different countries, so might be worthwhile swapping between if needed. Even without VPN I think this is a good deal. I have not experienced any dropouts.

  • +1

Does this stack on top of existing getflix membership, or just 12 months from now.

    • +3

From all previous deals, it stacks.

      • +1

Thanks Snuke. You're right. I have getflix to 2017 now. That'll do for now.

  • Trial just ran out, perfect timing thanks!

  • Though it says mother's days offer, it expires on the 12th

  • +3

Only really an extra 14% off the current price for new members.

  • Can new subscribers combine the Facebook 'like' discount (15%) with this MUMDAY40 discount?

    • no more facebook like discount, to my knowledge

      • ok thanks

  • getflix or uflix?

    • +2

Getflix includes vpn and unblocks more sites. Uflix is just for Netflix and Hulu. So it depends on what you want to use it for.

  • Does their DNS just automatically determine when you are visiting a geo-blocked site and automatically re-route it?

    anyone have issues with it?

    • Most of the geo-blocked apps I use, it seems like changing the location automatically for me.

I watched a lot of those apps (also addons in Kodi/Plex channels) everyday including:
      Netflix
      BBC iPlayer
      Nick Jr
      Disney
      South Park
      History Channel
      UFC
      PBS
      …… the list goes on.

      • dont channels like Disney require a US cable subscription though?

        • There is a Disney Channel on Plex Server. I am not sure if it is an official App tho.

        • @dealspider:

thanks.. any tips on where I can find a guide on setting up plex server and adding in those channels?

        • @SBOB:

Plex is great, so is Kodi (formally known as XBMC).

Follow these guides, it is pretty easy.

          Install Plex: Step-by-step Guide

          How to Install Channels

          Hope this helps.

        • @dealspider:

thanks. Currently use XBMC but will look at upgrading it to the latest Kodi version (set it up a couple of years ago and just left it as it worked ;) )

        • @dealspider:

any chance you could PM me a few more specifics of your Kodi add-on's you use to get those channels ?

        • @SBOB:
          I have to look through.

Most of the Kodi Addons you could get from SuperRepo

Use that link which shows you how to set it up. Pretty straight forward.

        • @dealspider:
I set up superrepo last night.. pretty overwhelming list though :)

        • @SBOB:
Yeah, I know :) But there are good ones depending on what you need. Another good addon is "Addon Installer" which makes it easy to install addons with one click.

You might have to do some reasearch if you are not sure what addons to install. When I have a free time, I sometimes install some of those plugins ad see if they are any good, if not uninstall them.

      • @dealspider: what streaming subscriptions do you currently pay for?(through whatever method), just Netflix and BBC, or is the above list your accumulated list?

        • The only paid subscription for now is Netflix, everything else is free.

I had Hulu as well but, not anymore.

I use both Plex and Kodi (XBMC). Some of those channels are through Plex (server) and some installed as addons in Kodi (XBMC).

    • Been using them for over a year, and it's been flawless.

And basically, yes, whenever you access a geo blocked site (as long as they cater to it) it automatically unblocks it.

  • Whats the difference between netflix and getflix?

    • +1

Netflix - streaming thousands of shows on the Australian version
Getflix - lets you unlock your router, so you can get the US, Canadian, UK, Argentinian…etc, version. The US version of netflix has 10's of thousands of shows.
And….let's you also get to HBO now (which will cost you US$15 a month).

So getflix + netflix = awesomeflix

      • +1

changing your DNS doesn't 'unlock your router'

    • Getflix is the dns services you use to watch Netflix USA or UK. It's a geo blocking service

      • -1

So do I need netflix if I buy getflix (I'm currently just using netflix)

        • +12

You don't need it, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Let me break it down a bit further for you. Ignore the names of the services, as similar as they are, because they're two very different things.

Netflix is a video streaming service, which is available in Australia, but also in many other countries around the world. Netflix licenses different shows in different countries, so a show that is available in the US via Netflix, may not be available in Australia. A movie that might be available in Germany, may not be available in the US. And so fourth…
Other streaming services, like Hulu+ and HBO Now are exclusively available in the US.

This is where Getflix comes in. If you were to fly to the US, and connect to the net, you would access the US Netflix library (still using your Australian subscription, Netflix simply assumes you're travelling). You would also be able to access Hulu, HBO etc. Likewise, if you flew to Germany, you would then have access the Germany Netflix library ( and so fourth). Getflix essentially replicates this effect; makes you appear as if you're in a different country. They offer a list of countries, you choose what country you want to 'be in', and then Netflix (or whatever other service) thinks you're in that country, and you have access to that regions content.

        • -3

          @OldMateNate:

So I will still get the same streaming service as Netflix? ultraHD or not?

Why would it then be beneficial to use both?

        • -3

          @random101:
So I just installed it, so all it is, is a VPN? or a proxy to unlock other regions…

          Why don't I invest in a 3rd party proxy?

        • +2

          @random101:

They offer both a VPN and a Smart DNS service. I only use the Smart DNS service (so the video stream itself doesn't go through a proxy).

It is basically a proxy, but a selective one (hence the need for DNS). There are two differences:

          1. Only some traffic is routed.
          2. You can choose where the proxy is located for different services, ie. you can use Netflix in the UK, Hulu in the US, etc.
        • @OldMateNate: So how does Getflix different to Hola free VPN?

        • @mponderosa: They're similar functionality wise. Getflix can be set at the router level, meaning no add ons or individual device setup is required beyond the initial set up. Hola also inserts ads into your browser, which some would find annoying.

  • I just payed for a subscription a couple of days ago and paid $43ish. FML

  • ERROR 778 setting up VPN :/

    • The couple of forums I had a look at mentioned usernames and passwords, I would check them first. below is a bit more info about it

The explanation of error 778 is “It was not possible to verify the identity of the server“. There are several possible causes of this problem.

1.The network connectivity has problem. Please verify the network connectivity of VPN server. We could ping the server from the client with the server’s IP address. And L2TP uses the UDP 1701, please verify the port was opened.

2.The VPN server can’t authenticate the user account. So please check the about all settings.

In addition, have you looked all related logs in the VPN client and the VPN server? To troubleshoot this issue, these logs are very useful.

To check about all settings about L2TP VPN setup, please refer to the link below,

Checklist: Implementing a VPN Remote Access Server Design

      Found At:

      https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en…

    • Have you made sure that you have enabled the VPN in your Getflix account? under Manage?

Also make sure you have followed the instructions correctly when entering the Shared Key (If you are using L2tp).

      • Cheers guys, finally got it working! (This is after 6 hrs trying to get a VPN working with PIA.) I hadn't set up the DNS settings which is a separate setup component outside of the VPN. The VPN guide should really mention at the start to have completed the DNS update first! GREAT SUCCESS.

  • got it, thanks!

  • Hi guys :) I am finding it hard to understand all of these new things….please help me a bit…
I have had a trial of Netflix, which has now finished and I have paused my membership…
If I join something like Getflix would I have to pay extra for watching Netflix?
    TIA x
I am also in a trial of UnoTelly but find that through them i still have to pay extra for Netflix :(

    • +4

Yes, you still have to pay for Netflix. Copy and pasted from my other comment:
"Ignore the names of the services, as similar as they sound, because they're two very different things.

Netflix is a video streaming service, which is available in Australia, but also in many other countries around the world. • Thankyou very much for that info OldMateNate, now I DO understand it better :)

      • So what's the difference between Hola and GetFlix?

  • I don't mind using torrents, etc,
but is it ethical to pay money to people for circumventing copyright?

    • +5

      geo-blocking circumvention isn't technically copyright infringement ;)

      • Geo-blocking circumvention isn't copyright infringement.

    • +4

It's circumventing local distribution and licensing arrangements, which is a bit of a grey area…
Certainly more ethical than torrents I'd say though!

    • +3

You'll have to decide for yourself whether it is ethical.

However, Australia's consumer advocate, CHOICE, has determined that geo-blocking is largely an unfair and unjustified mechanism for charging Australians more than other people (read, American people) for the same digital product. They recommend that consumers circumvent geo-blocking.

My own opinion is that I want to pay for the content that I consume, and I think that services like Netflix (Australia) should charge GST, but I want to pay the fair cost of delivering that content to me, rather than an artificially inflated cost.

Circumventing geo-blocking is not illegal, nor is it copyright infringement, however it is against the terms and conditions of Netflix etc. In principle Netflix could terminate your subscription, but in practice I don't know how they'd distinguish between genuine travellers and circumventers, and of course, if you're paying a subscription, then it's not really in their interest to kick you out.

    • +1

One is breaking a terms of service and one is breaking the law. It's a bit like comparing utilizing a pricing error from a store to straight out stealing something from a store.

  • Is it ethical that the government is wanting all ISP to hold information for so long, and threaten to give names to music/movie industry

  • Code worked a treat for me….

  • +1

All I need is a service to see US Netflix. Is there any advantage in using this compared to uFlix that coat only $2 a month?
I have no need for a VPN.
