  • Very tempting!!

  • Is the ASUS better than the MSI?
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&c…

EDIT: quick check would suggest the ASUS is more quiet.
Might get this one before I get my rig :)

    • It seems to be $10s better.

    • MSI is a lot better, DirectCU II has a poorly fitting heatsink that seems to be copied from GTX 780 without modification. VRM is poorly cooled and the temperature is higher than the stock cooler.

R9 290X test here, same cooler and chip: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/12/23/asus_r9_290x_direc…

  • Can it play GTA V without the BLOODY STUTTERING?!!?

    • i use the 290x instead but it works like a charm :)

    • What card are you using right now?

      • +3

        nVidia Geforce2 mx200

        High end 64MB version

        • +1

Well im using a R9 280 and i have no issues.

        • Bet that cost you an arm and a leg. What do you do for a living?!

          @Leafmew:

They don't call me the one legged hobbit for nothing

dy4me must be too young to recall that card :)

        • @Click_It: Haha indeed. If you could play GTA III on that I'd be surprised!

        • @Leafmew:

          Arm and a leg? Nope
          Just $170 :)

And for a living I sell peoples Kidneys! :p

        • @dy4me: Was about to say the same thing

      • GTX670 (2GB). I get audio hiccups as well. I can't work out the stuttering as it can be mostly smooth and then suddenly stutter and go smooth again, but it's pretty regular. Running off SSD, still trying various settings to see what helps.

    • I'm using a 280x and apart from the graphics glitches (I think my card is fubar) it runs fine with everything on uber @ 1920x1080. Also helps that it has a 4790k and raided SSDs :P

    • No stuttering here on the gigabyte version

    • This one can for sure, my friend has the card. That being said I can run it at a solid 60fps with a 7870 with half the memory! it's easy to run people just don't realise you have to turn down postfx a little and use FXAA instead of MSAA.

  • I got my gaming pc built from mwave back in January this year, after replacing the 290x graphics card(faulty card) it worked like a treat, definitely recommend this place :)

  • Can this Xfire with a Sapphire 290?

What would the power requirements be like ( have a 750W power supply)?

Or will it be too loud/hot that it's not worth it.

    • +1

750 is plenty imo for a dual power gpu

  • Does this seem like a better deal than the $435 Geforce GTX 970 from Amazon?

    • Well considering scummy nvidia sell the GTX 970 as a 4gb card but it's actually 3.5 + .5 of slower memory I'd personally boycott them at the moment. But do your own research because I admittedly hate nvidia after the batch of games that were crippled for amd cards after the devs were paid off to include physx.

This is a good price, just remember that AMD will be releasing new cards in June / July. These cards also draw quite a bit of power (250W peak) so make sure you have a decent PSU.

    • Great advice, the new cards will also be the first shipping with High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) which should be interesting. I'm excited to see what comes out.

Terrible terrible card. Ridiculous heat output and forget over clocking.
