We have a special on our mr16 ($6.95) and GU10 ($7.95)Supreme (See specials Tab for more deals.

Our led's made in taiwan. Having the diffuser, we ensure your light gets distributed evenly across the room, just like a halogen would. I am not going to crap you and say its a 50w replacement, but I will tell you it is more like a 45w replacement which makes it a worthwhile investment without compromising too much on the light output. We have tested these on a lot of electronic transformers but we cannot guarantee it will work on all (if you have an actec or possum dont bother buying :). It works well on your old iron core transformers and if you need a transformer, check out our efficient 60w Anchorn transformer. These work well on all our LED range and consume 0.3w sitting on idle.

Why is this? what is the operating temperature of these LEDs?

    • +1

they operate very cool but if your downlight has a cone with no air flowing thru it, dont bother with LED's

  • Might be a stupid question but do these dim? I was looking to replace some downlights in my house however I have dimmers.

    • If you look at the OP it says no.

      • Yeah I missed that thanks

        • if you are using iron core transformers they will dim

        • @energysaver:

          OMG NO! NO! NO!

          BAD REP, BAD!

Iron core transformers are heavy, out-dated and inefficient. Using them often causes flickering and dramatically reduces the life expectancy of the LED light! (or not work at all)

    • +1

most normal dimmers don't support LEDs (even the dimmable led) you need a special type of dimmer to activate them…

leading or trailing edge most of the time, some require PWM…

so before you buy dimmable LEDs find out what they need to DIM them… they will just end up flicking if you don't.

      • Thanks for the extra info will do!

  • I bought 5 x gu10 true whites for the kitchen over a year ago and a bunch of warm gu10 for rest of the house, bought the mr16 to gu10 conversion kits to swap out our crap transformers. Will porobably buy a few more to finish the house off. Wide enough angle for me, Quick postage, problem is we then bought a spa so no energy saving for us lol

  • I have these in numerous rooms in my house. I would say they are comparable to a 40W halogen, not 45W, but enough to do the job in bedrooms. I would not use them in the kitchen though.

    Pros-
    price
    wide angle diffuser is great.
Some work with my existing transformers with no flickering or pulses.

    Cons-
2 units (GU10) turn off for periods of time - minutes. One is a dead after 3 years.
Some will not work my existing transformers.

Assessing whether or not to replace crappers.

Also have many OSRAMs running flawlessly.
