      Yup thanks for reminder.

    From a Taiwan based seller with generic Australian charger. It will be grey import.

    • Yup thanks for reminder.

      updated.

  • +2

    22% off RRP

    That is misleading… This is a grey import, not the same as buying one locally…

    • +10

      If people in Australia really do care about 'grey import', then why would they still buy? I can guarantee this group deal will be gone by end of today. Also, many people travel to other countries just to get the Apple stuffs because our exchange rate is 'SHIT'.

      Just that you do not have the privilege of the Australia Consumer Law extra 1 year warranty.

      • +1

        Well said !!

      • +5

        If people in Australia really do care about 'grey import', then why would they still buy?

        They buy it to save money, and a willing to forgo the benefits of buying locally.

        To say it's 22% off retail is wrong and misleading because you are getting less than the one that costs 22% more. It is not the same product.

        • +4

          Well if it's from Taiwan, the RRP is 15900 NT which converts to 646.49 AUD.

          So it's 25.9% off. Even better!

      • sorry I'm bit confused if this one would be eligible for Australian 1 year Apple warranty ? can you please put some light on it. thank you

        • Apple warranty is international. So yes, you are eligible for Australia 1 year Apple warranty on all Apple products regardless where it was purchased.

        • @mooreshady:
          Thank you….. just placed an order

        • -8

          @mooreshady:

          Apple warranty is international

          If you buy local, Apple give you 2 years of warranty, so it's not the same.

          Also, the charger in your deal is not an Apple charger. Is the charger with this one even legal to use in Australia ????

        • +2

          @jv:

          Mate,

          already mentioned in my post, there's no Australia Consumer Law warranty, so grey import only issue is that you do not get 1 extra year warranty. Yes some people (like you) loved to have that extra 1 year warranty, but I am fairly safe to say that OZB people loved their extra savings in their pocket more.

          It is fine you can unlike my post, but there's so many fish in the sea, doesn't matter if you are 1 out of the 23 million Australians who are hating this deal, there's 22,999,999 people going to get it. Also only 300 iPads are on sale at this price now.

        • @jv: Since when apple is giving 2 years warranty for free? Any proof of what you saying?

        • +1

          @Bnjam3:

          Any proof of what you saying?

          Yep, the law, and just ask at your local Apple Store…

          I prefer the extra warranty and am happy I had my iPhone 5S replaced for free last month by Apple after buying it about 18 months ago !!! Probably saved me about $400-$500 compared to if I got it as a grey import…

          All I'm doing is letting people make an informed choice.

          If you buy grey, you are forgoing some of the benefits of buying locally…

          You still have answered my question about the non-Apple charger? Is it legal to use in Australia? Has it been approved ????

        • @Mikinoz:
          "the Apple One-Year Limited Warranty or the optional AppleCare Protection Plan (whichever is applicable)." So apple is making misleading the consumer?

        • +1

          @mooreshady:

          Deal or not, I think the issue here is the statement that it is 22% off rrp, when it is not directly comparable.

        • -5

          @TheContact:

          when it is not directly comparable.

          As I'm sure Officeworks will point this out if you try and do an price match…

        • -1

          Also, According to Apple, if you buy locally, the warranty is a minimum of 2 years…

          "Apple will provide its own remedies equivalent to those remedies in the consumer guarantee provisions of the Australian Consumer Law at any time within 24 months of the date of purchase. For the avoidance of doubt, Apple acknowledges that the Australian Consumer Law may provide for remedies beyond 24 months for a number of its products."

          https://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/

        • @Bnjam3: Yes pretty much, what JV says above

        • -1

          @jv:

          Well, I've studied criminal law and I'm fairly certain there's no provisions in the Crimes Acts of various states or territories that make it a crime to use that charger in Australia, so I'm thinking it is legal to use it.

          Did you pass ???

      • Regardless his point that they're not the same is still valid. It wasn't a fair comparison.

    • +2

      I agree with jv for once… >_>

  • +3

    Much better to pay the extra $150 odd and get a 64 GB one from officeworks

    • +1

      I agree, my 16GB iPad 4 ran out of space in 12 months, no music or movies, just games haha. I don't think it's worth upgrading though, so I'll just delete stuff as I get new stuff :/

  • Thanks OP, needed to take one for a present overseas. This saved me a few $$. If anyone wants Australian stock, it's $578 at the good guys, and office works have matched the price. I've been told that BigW will price match (could be useful if you get 5% off with wish gift cards).

    • -3

      needed to take one for a present overseas.

      if that is the case, then it doesn't really matter if it is grey or not. I'm guessing that most people buying these here though are not getting them to export…

      • Thanks JV, sorry I didn't mean to imply that this deal was better than what you can get from other providers. It just suited me more

  • +1

    Well, it is true that it is 22% off RRP for what you will pay in Australia. Don't factor in those 1 year extra warranty, Australia plug, or whatever you can think of, as you should know what 'grey import' means…

    • it is 22% off RRP for what you will pay in Australia.

      What is the normal price these sell for in Taiwan if you want to make a proper price comparison ???

    • 578-22% = $450.. So this is not 22% off..

      Really when you weigh it all up

      $479 + proper apple charger $29 + 1 year extended warranty $66 = $574 or less than 1% cheaper. Hardly worth the wait/hassle!!

  • I just ordered Ipad Mini Retina 32G 4G from Optus at $389, but this deal is still great!!!

  • If this is really a grey import, would this be inclusive of gst? I'm planning on claiming trs, so it needs to have gst in the receipt. I somehow doubt tax is paid on this. :(

    • no GST if it's under $1000, so you can't claim GST…

      Seller is based in Taiwan so I'd doubt they could register to charge GST anyway…

      • What do you mean JV? You certainly can claim under $1000. Minimum value of items must be $300, on a single receipt. Above $1000 the receipt must have the traveller's name and address. Below $1000 it does not need this, but if it is there it must match the traveller's identity.

        But yes, obviously no GST on an imported product.

        • -1

          What do you mean JV?

          You are importing this from Taiwan, and as it's below $1000, you won't be charged GST by Customs when it enters Australia.

          Since you won't be charged GST, you can't claim it back when you leave the country….

        • -1

          @jv: I don't think Cloudy was talking about paying GST to customs on import and then claiming it back later. He was probably hoping this price was inclusive of GST, such that he could get it cheaper after claiming it back.

    • So you'd rather pay tax, so you can claim the tax back? If you haven't paid any GST you're in the box seat! The only way you'll be better off by paying tax and claiming it through the TRS is if you find a 16GB iPad Air 2 for less than $527 including GST. Plus, you know, lining up and stuff haha

  • sold out

    • +1

      Damm, spent too much time reading JV baiting the OP!

      • +1

        yes, must be great info for you all. lol. Anyways sold out. happy purchase or reading!

  • Just wondering if anyone had received a notification that the item had started shipping
