FREE $50 Virgin Australia Holidays Voucher - Requires Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership (Free)

3610

My wife just bought the Sydney & Sydney North Entertainment Book, and when she registered her card it said that she was eligible for a free $50 Voucher to Use with Virgin Australia Holidays. I also noticed that the link was generic and managed to claim a $50 voucher for myself too. If you're not a member of Velocity Frequent Flyer it is free to join. Enjoy.

Thanks OP! This is the closest thing I've ever seen to free money.

    • +1

Did you miss all the Delivery Hero deals?
Ok fine I guess that's free food
What about the AMEX statement credits?

      • You have to spend money to get those statement credits. Then again, I guess I'll also have to spend money to use this…

        • +2

I reckon the AMEX "shop small" promos were a lot like free money, especially given that a lot of petrol stations and supermarkets (IgAs etc.) were on 'the list'. $10 back for buying $20 worth of petrol (x however many cards you have x however many relevant stations you drive past).

"This is the closest thing I've ever seen to free money."

You need to drop by more often.. ;)

deals resembling 'free money' from past-

$100 tiger air vouchers (specially for those who sold them..)
        free gift cards (bunnings etc)
% off visa gift cards (via eBay)
free ebay credit (recently $10 send to many users)
        free PP credit
        cashrewards
        supercheapauto $10 and $5 credits

        forgotten a tonne I'm sure

how far will $50 go with Virgin.. still nice deal, thx OP

You must have missed a lot of deals :-p

  • Damn doesn't look like you can remove the hotel option haha..

  • Thanks, OP!

  • Thanks OP for this find! Just to confirm they'll email the voucher via email instead of delivering it via post?

I had one of these vouchers last time and never used it. Basically it works out cheaper to book things yourself.

Happy to be proven wrong though!

    • Happy to be proven wrong though!

I think that's unlikely. There are always cheaper options than going directly through the airlines.

  • thanks

  • Definitely a good find, thanks OP!

Monday morning at Velocity team meeting:

Exec: Our new partership with Entertainment has proven a resounding success!
New intern: Well actually, I was on OzBargain last night, and…

If I was a CEO I'd have a whole department dedicated solely to monitoring OzBargain. Price errors, leaked promos, targeted offers…

  • I went to the link and entered my membership number and it says "You have already registered Velocity membership number for this promotion."

What exactly can this $50 voucher be used on?

    • +1

It can only be used against Virgin Holidays package, which (according to some comments in this thread) might be more expensive than if you book the items individually by yourself.

  • +14

So many upvotes for a deal that will end up costing you more money than it should!

Book your flights with the cheapest available airline, and get your accomodation and transfers seperately with judicious use of points, vouchers, cashback annd rebates. 9/10 You'll save a lot more than $50

    No offence OP :)

    • +1

      This…

      So very true

    • +1

My exact thoughts! I really don't think this is much of a deal. Was offered it last year as part of the entertainment book, had a quick look at the website and didn't bother.

    • +5

Or alternatively, the hunt is on to find a package that makes this deal upworthy.

    • +2

if you have multiple family members you can stack the vouchers, so works out a pretty good deal.

  • Nice, Thankyou!

  • OP OMG TY!

This will be great for the afl tickets, which you can get through Virgin website. Hard to find discounts on afl tickets anywhere

MOST OVERRATED DEAL OF THE YEAR !! what can we get with $50, nuttin

  • Thanks

  • thank you OP

  • Pretty exy even with the voucher.

    Coupon code seems generic: "E…5"

  • I was using a temporary card from BP as I fill up at BP every week. I went to sign up with Velocity thinking I would earn lots of points by just doing my usual fuel fill up - however after reading the Terms and conditions carefully and some reviews I decided not to. Worth doing your own research and deciding from there whether you are happy with their program (and conditions) before signing up for a $50 voucher that is purely a marketing tool aimed at locking you to their brand.
    Just my 2¢.

    • If you always fill up at BP, what's there to loose?

  • +2

Hey all, just letting you know that I book Hotel accommodation (greater than $1000) through Virgin Redeem Hotel page and I successfully used $50 voucher and got $100 cashback from Amex! So you don't need to book a hotel + flight cobination. Also earned Triple Velocity points which is a bonus.

So total discount is roughly $175.
Also note Virgin charges a credit card surcharge :(
