Amaysim 5GB Unlimited RECHARGE Voucher $17.90 (Save $25) When You Buy a $2 SIM @ Coles

840

Saw this in the Coles catalog at work. Cheap was to stack up on cheap recharge vouchers.

Since you get a REAL recharge voucher, technically it will cost you $19.90 (as you have to buy the $2 sim to qualify) but still better than paying $45

It may be limited to one per person per visit, but nothing stopping you from getting one per day or more

If you want a BONUS $10 credit for new signups follow these steps:

  • Click on my referral link http://amaysi.ms/r/KwbWMrHd
  • If you want to activate the $2 SIM, towards the end of the page , click the link highlighted in orange that says "Activate your SIM and you’ll be ready to rock ‘n’ roll in no time"
  • And proceed to checkout, remember you have to checkout with your credit card (even with zero payment) to qualify for the $10 referral credit.
You can then login your account, and change payment to vouchers or direct debit to remove your credit card info

You can also signup with the current promo's with $10 referral credit and use the recharge voucher to add an unlimited plan to your sim card.

EDIT 1: If the self service has no sim packs left, here is the AMAYSIM $2 SIM PACK Barcode. Scan at self checkout and them choose the $45 recharge Voucher. You will be charged $19.90 in total. Reference

EDIT 2: You can purchase multiple SIM pack with Multiple vouchers i.e. At self checkout scan 1 sim pack per 1 voucher multiple times in one transaction. You will be charged $19.90 per sim/voucher

It also says "first month only".

    • I have a couple of questions

      1. You can purchase 1x$2 sim and multiple vouchers for $17.90 each?
      2. Is it a requirement to activate all vouchers in one go or can you activate one per month?
      • +1

You can purchase 1x$2 sim and multiple vouchers for $17.90 each?

You have to buy a $2 sim per transaction to get the discount for one voucher so in total the voucher will cost you $19.90

Is it a requirement to activate all vouchers in one go or can you activate one per month?

Either way. On the safe side, one per month before expiry date which should be 1 year

        • Thanks mate

  • Ye I just bought one thinking the expiry date is like in a few days but its in 2/5/16.
I dont see how we cant just keep buy a heap of these from different coles and keep recharging with them since they expire in one year??
It can't be that easy can it??

    • +1

Well you'll need to check T&Cs as it states for New Orders only. This means if you apply a second voucher to an existing service it may not work, and you'll have a stack of unusable vouchers…

Having said that, I was told earlier today from my online chat with a rep that you can activate multiple of these vouchers however haven't had the chance to validate it.

  • Got this from Amaysim website: "if you’re on UNLIMITED TEXT 2GB (with unlimited standard TXT, 500 mins calls and 2GB data all in Oz), UNLIMITED 5GB (with unlimited standard calls/TXT and 5GB data, All in Oz) or UNLIMITED 7GB (with unlimited standard calls/TXT and 7GB data, All in Oz) and recharge your plan with a voucher before the 30 day expiry period, we’ll simply “stack” the voucher to your account. This means that it won’t become active until your 30 days are up."

    http://www.amaysim.com.au/help-support/billing-and-payments/…

From the photo posted by Syaugi, it appears that the recharge voucher that comes with the $2 sim is a normal $44.90 recharge voucher, so I would have thought that stacking voucher should work?

  • Just went and got mine there is no limit on how many you can buy also they can be in the same transaction and it works just fine

    • +1

Have you tried reloading all vouchers at once?

      • +1

This is on everyone's lips. We need someone to test this. :)
I have 2 vouchers my Minister of Finance picked up today, will try to test this as soon as I've switched the service into Pre-Paid from Post-Paid mode.

      • Not yet my recharge went through the day before the deal was posted so im not going to apply it just yet as i do believe once you add the credit it only lasts 90 days where as the actual voucher lasts for a year

Update: Went to activate one it comes up as voucher invalid but then it added the amounts to my account and expires in 90 days

        • Was that on the PAYG plan?

        • @jdf:

Nope, I'm on the $54.95 7GB Unlimited Plan so next month it will just take $54.95 or whatever it is from that balance

        • @TheVoucherKing: that's interesting, so when you add the voucher to the account, it adds the full amount which you can use as you like.

        • what do you mean by the 90 days? Does that mean that we can only add three months = three vouchers at a time?

        • @jdf:

That's correct use it on any plan you like

        • -1

          @TheAviator1992:

That's correct if you add more it will expire before the plan expires if that makes sense

        • +1

@TheVoucherKing: thank you, looks like it's a go.

    • Could you please clarify…
-Is it one SIM and multiple recharges purchased in the same transaction?
      OR
-Is it multiple SIMs and multiple recharge vouchers purchased in the same transaction?

      Thanks.

      • +1

This one: multiple SIMs and multiple recharge vouchers purchased in the same transaction.

        • ^ Thats correct

        • Thanks for confirming.

  • So can someone confirm you can add the 17.90 voucher to an existing amaysim account?

    • Yes

  • anyone know how long a port to amaysim takes?

    • i'm with vaya website said telstra/voda takes 1 hour, optus take 1-3 days
I'm thinking i should have ported out/in, but i'll report back on how long it really takes

  • +13

Been a long time ozbargain lurker but signed up for an account so i can post here to clarify a few things.

    1) This is a NORMAL RECHARGE VOUCHER for $17.90 instead of $44.90. It works the same as if you were to pay $44.90.
    2) They have a 12months expiry period, so you can purchase 12 of them to use over a year.
3)This is unconfirmed by me but according to previous posts you can stack them so you can purchase all of them and use them all on one account at the same time.
    4) This can be used on existing accounts and does not need to be used on new accounts (as per point 1)
    5) To purchase multiple ones, you need to purchase 1 sim card per voucher. So essential it becomes $17.90+$2 per recharge

Also life hack, if the person at the counter refuses to sell you more than 1, and the simcards are in reach of you getting them, you can do it yourself at the self service lane as you can buy recharge credit there! :)

    Happy bargaining.

Thanks, a summary of all comments in to 1

      welcome to ozbargain !!

    • Thanks for the summary brendongl, so much easier to follow than going through all the comments.

    • Thanks

On (3) - does that mean I can buy 24 pair of $2 + $17.90 and activate all 24 vouchers to last me for next 2 years?

        • It cant be done right because validity is for 90 days only if stack over/activated all at once on same account.

        • @bluebird77:

          correct.

        • @easternculture:

Thanks but i can still buy 24x and activate 3 vouchers every 90 days/3 months

      • @bluebird77:

i would activate 1 or 2 at at time.

You never know , maybe a better deal comes up. Then all you have to do is sell the remaining unused vouchers

  • +1

thanks for all the reports fellow 'professionals', looks like I will be purchasing a few of these! Happy to hold on to them and recharge monthly as I go, but if someone has tried adding multiple recharges at once and it has worked, please let us know as it would be a lot more convenient! The website seems to suggest that it will work :) http://www.amaysim.com.au/help-support/billing-and-payments/…

    • +2

I believe TheVoucherKing has already successfully done that at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/195623?page=1#comment-2780…

According to his comment, credit expires in 90 days though.

      • They don't expire in 90 days. Once you add Unlimited recharge vouchers to your Unlimited account, they will stack and stay there until renewal time. They will be used for renewal one by one from month to month automatically (if you choose automatic renewal of course).

  • I just activated online (and used referral - thanks for all the deals ec ;),
I activated using one of the sims i bought and it offered me the $17.90 deal again online, so i usedthat saving one of my vouchers

    • say what. It offered it to you for $17.90 online without a recharge voucher

      Thanks for using my referral

      • Yep it knew I bought the sim from Coles and offered me first month 17.90, I could have got the 19.90 for 7gb but then I wouldn't be a true ozbargain and save $2

  • So, do we need to use this $17 voucher with $2 sim that came with voucher or can be used on existing service.

    • If you read the post properly it can be used on an existing account.

  • Hi all, can anyone tell me how long the expiry is on the actual sim cards? I've just started (day 1) a new month of my current plan so I might as well see it out before I bail… I would expect/hope that it would be at least a month-long expiry.

  • Bought 2 from the service counter because that's where they keep such items at East Gardens in Pagewood. The staff who served me was happy to get me a second one put through on a separate transaction and when asked, told me there were heaps left. Don't how happy/willing they'd be to sell me/one customer ten or a dozen but I can go back again later.

    • Well done @samlor. I was at Coles in Sydney CBD and the lady refused to give me more than one stating "it's not fair to other customers" even though there were more available. (They're behind the cigarette counter, so couldn't pick them up myself)

Mustn't have liked my face sigh. Any plastic surgery bargains floating around? :P

Anyway, back to the bargain. Will have to run around a bit to get a couple more. Thanks @easternculture and everyone else for sharing this bargain and all the useful information.

      • +2

I was planning to buy as many as they would let me, but Coles @ Braybrook VIC would only let me have 1 as well. I asked if I could buy one for my wife & one for me, she said no, if she did that, she would have to offer two to everyone. She then said "then Asians will come & try to buy 20", WTF!

        • +7

          I'm asian and i find that racist…
          I would buy 21! :D

  • I am on postpaid and there is no voucher option for payment. I assume I need to change to prepaid?

    • its easy to change to prepaid. YOu can do that manually via your online account login

      • It says needs to be done via live chat.

  • I am with AMASIM right now on a monthly plan. Can I simply switch to this with my number?

    • these are just recharge vocuhers. Look at them like money added to your account.

If you follow my instruction in OP, then $19.90 will get you $44.90 in credit

The use the credit as you wish

  • +1

Beware, I have the Amaysim app and when I recharged with the voucher it put me on the Unlimited 5G 30 day plan. No additional credit, no choice.

From these posts I see I should have txt the voucher number to 1555

    • what plan where you on originally

      • The UNLIMITED TEXT 2GB plan

        • seems like amaysim has caught up on us

        • +2

@easternculture: But as I said, I should have txt the voucher to 1555 (rather than use the app or as the voucher suggests 568) and used the credit that way. The App is probably set up to go straight to the UNLIMITED 5GB Plan. Still great value. Ill buy another one and test my theory.

        • @pjmarshall23:

please update as ive expired my other deal until i get more details

        • @easternculture:

Yes, be interested to hear about this. From reading all the comments, it still seems like the deal still works, but only for specific purposes?

ie. if you're already on the Amaysim UNLIMITED 5GB Plan, and you do this whole "$2 sim + Amaysim Unlimited 5GB Recharge Voucher for $19.90" thing, then you can still accumulate as many "UNLIMITED 5GB Recharge vouchers"(worth $44.90) as you require, basically making your monthly recharges more than half price?

But if you were going to use this "hack" to buy other packs or other data plans, it may not work so well?

    • +1

@pjmarshall23 exactly same happened to me. I recharged using their website. They changed my Flexi plan to Unlimited 5G 30 day plan. No option to revert back to Flexi plan. I have already bought 8 so far and planning to buy a couple more. But I want to add $44.90 credit to my Flexi plan. Can you or someone else confirm if texting the Voucher code to 1555 add $44.90 credit to the Flexi plan ??? I have another phone on Flexi plan.

  • +5

YES I now have a year's worth of Amaysim Credit and a full refund on the 12 X $2 Sim cards that I purchased but don't really need.

Put your hands together for the OzBargain Extreme Couponer of 2015!

    • lol congrads

      • Does it say in your amaysim account you have 12 renewal vouchers stored? I've stacked 1 voucher and it says you have 1 voucher stored, bit worried about stacking 12 at a time.

How did you get a refund on the sims? Didn't Coles question it seeing it was a package deal?

        • -1

Yes they did and refused to refund them, I got ahead of myself before my wife broke the bad news to me.

    • Question for you - are you on prepaid Unlimited 5GB originally? or started as brand new customer to take advantage of this deal?

what method did you use to recharge - text or online or via app?

No expiry on the credit esp. when you stacked them 12 at 1 go?

      • Yes I was on the 5GB plan, all codes stacked for future use successfully however I cannot see them in my account or in the balance, I will keep all receipts just in case they try and pull a swifty on me.

        • I thought credit is only valid for 90 days in your account?

        • @vvti85

That's what I thought, seems like he jumped the gun. I'm just going to recharge monthly instead of stacking 12 of them at once.

        • +2

Live Chat says each voucher lasts 30 days, stacked will last the whole year bitches!

        • My vouchers which I bought yesterday are valid till 02/05/16. Nowhere is there mention of it lasting only 30 days.

        • @vvti85:
That's strange I just typed in Amaysim.com.au and in the recharge section it says

          $44.90 auto-renews every 30 days

They really need to issue licenses for people so that can use the interwebs.

        • +3

          @vvti85:

There seems to be some sorta confusion over different things. When you buy the discounted voucher, the voucher itself seems to expire on 02/05/16(expires in about a year's time, give or take a month). Then, when you apply the recharge voucher to an amaysim account which is already on the UNLIMITED 5GB plan(which expires every 30 days), the vouchers stack, and will auto-use up any vouchers that have been stacked/stored on the account when the current plan expires. Then, there's the previous mention of "credit being valid for 90 days in your account", which seems to have been a glitch/hack that someone found when they were on a different prepaid plan and then applied the voucher, and found the $44.90 applied as credit that expires in 90 days. That particular glitch seems to have been fixed now though

          All different things.

          TLDR:
          - 30 days expiry -> each UNLIMITED 5GB plan as its activated
          - 1 year expiry(approx)-> the actual recharge voucher bought on discount or full price from Coles/wherever
          - No expiry(recharge vouchers stored/stacked on account)
          - 90 days expiry -> credit that was applied from recharge voucher glitch

        • Thanks for clearing that up @Kenb0:

So basically when you redeem a voucher it gets added to your account as a stacked voucher (which has no expiry) for the 5GB Unlimited and not as credit.

The glitch was the confusing part as I have $10 referral credit in my account which has a 90 day expiry and I thought each voucher would be added as credit.

        • +1

          @vvti85:

No worries. Of course, Amaysim may change the "no expiry" of the vouchers that have been stacked onto the account, or if they change the cost of the UNLIMITED 2GB plan in future, not sure how that works with the stored vouchers.

I personally wouldn't redeem all the vouchers right now, I'd just do it one at a time, or two maybe, as there's no need to as the actual recharge vouchers don't expire till May next year. At least that way, if you want to port out to another service, you can still on-sell the unused recharge vouchers to someone else.

        • @Kenb0:
The receipt text will fade as it's a thermal roll, stacking them online saves you the time and effort to punch in that code when that time could be better spent stuffing KFC nuggets into your mouth.

        • @dannyhc:

You have really thought this one out.

        • @Kenb0: If I read that right, then we could technically buy a large number of recharge dockets (more than a year's supply), activate up to a year's worth from 2 May 2016 and they will stack onto the account as a sort of "plan credit"?

        • @dstambou: As far as I know, that'll work, but like I said, if they change the cost the UNLIMITED 5GB plan, say 6 months from now from 44.90 to 48.90(as an example), I have no idea how the stacked/stored vouchers will work or how they will be applied.

As far as anyone knows, once the vouchers are stacked/stored on the account, they don't expire. Or at least, no one from Amaysim has said they will.

        • @Kenb0:
There shouldn't be a problem/ I bought some recharge Unlimited vouchers last year before Amaysim increased their price and stacked them. All of the vouchers worked fine, e.g. applied on a monthly basis.

        • +1

          @bob19:

Since you've stacked them before, any way you can tell how many vouchers you have stacked?

Also, as far as I can tell, I've got auto-recharge turned on and the payment method is set to Bpay/Vouchers, and if I have vouchers stacked, it should auto-recharge as the plan expires with one of my stacked vouchers. What if I turn auto-recharge off, can I manually still use one of the stacked vouchers? eg. if I go on overseas holidays for a few months, I would turn auto-recharge off so I'm not recharging the plan while I'm not here. Just wondering how to then use one of the stacked vouchers when I come back to australia

        • @Kenb0:

Sounds like a question for online chat.

I've turned off my auto renew so that I use the $10 referral credit before the next stacked voucher so I can let you know in about 27 days time whether its just a case of ticking the auto-renew checkbox.

        • @Kenb0: From memory, back then I bought about 5 or 6 vouchers and they all auto renewed fine, even though the price went up by that time.
Don't know what happens if you turn auto renewal off.

  • Just beware that if you are on postpaid you can't apply these vouchers until you a) disable auto renew and b) once current month expires then change to postpaid.

    • prepaid? or postpaid? you got confused here i tihnk

      • Yeah sorry.. Need to change to prepaid to apply vouchers

  • +2

Just in case anyone's in the same area… Macquarie Centre (NSW) - Coles is out of the micro sims. Dick Smith, Woolworths, Big W will NOT price match. JB HiFi does not stock Amaysim.

    • So is Rhodes.

    • A little trick, buy a $2 sim card from another store E.G dicksmith, take it into coles into self-serve, and use the barcode and pretend you are buying them from coles just to get the discount. I took a simcard from work just incase when i got to coles they were sold out hehe.

The self-serve assistant looked confused with what i was doing but she couldn't really care less as i was scanning the same sim card over and over.

      • How long was your receipt haha

  • I was bumped with a problem last night when I tried to load one voucher. It gives me a 5G data plan straight away, iso money value $44.90. Worse, it wiped off my FLEXI plan remaining credit. ( ̄▽ ̄)

    • Same thing just happened to me,

      • Report it to online chat and they should be able to fix it for you.

  • Bought nine of these over the past few days and along with the three months Groupon offer I've got a full year now. Probably will stop there :-)

    • Do all the Recharge Vouchers have the same Expiry Date, and what's that date?

      • +1

expiry is 2nd May, 2016 on all of them. Purchased Thursday, Friday and today.

  • GREAT Thanks… just got 8 vouchers (thought that was enough) They ran out of micro sims so i asked for any sim. They looked at me funny and gave me some nano sims. Each voucher on the docket states 5GB unlimited $44.90. GREAT !!! Have photocopied incase i cant read the voucher in months from now… Sims in rubbish bin.

  • I brought the groupon one for for 3 month deal with 15% discount then use coles voucher to recharge after first 3 months.
Warning autorecharge is on as default and they want a credit or debit card with least a $1 on it for verfication
I used a debit card with $2 on it instead of using your credit card in case the autorecharge gets turned on by some mistake.

  • +1

Thanks. I went to coles and purchased 2 SIM+recharges and asked the lady whether there is a limit. She checked and said NO. I picked up another 9. Yes people behind me were looking at me smiling.. thinking that this is the first time I am seeing SIM cards LOL. Thanks warrentwo, I also will take a copy of the recharges :-)

  • This deal is still going at Coles?

    • expires 02/06/15 (Today)
