Amaysim 10GB Annual Data Plan $50 or Less (+ More Phone/Data Hacks) Via Coles Amaysim Recharge Deal

1070

To apply the vouchers you need to contact the customer support center directly either via online chat or phone

Original deal

SO its been confirmed by TheVoucherKing that the Coles Amaysim Unlimited 5GB Recharge Voucher for $17.90 (instead of $45) adds an actual dollar amount (i.e. $44.90) into your account.

So each $17.90 voucher will give you $44.90 worth of credit. You can then use that credit as you wish on any amaysim service.

Remember NOT to add all the recharge vouchers together (unless you intend yo use them within 90 days) as validity of credit is 90 days, no matter how many recharge voucher you apply

SO in summary:

Data Plans:

  • The 10GB 365 Data Plan would cost you 2 x $2 Sim + 2 X $17.90 vouchers + $10.10 payment (or less if you add 3 recharge vouchers) = $49.90
  • The 4GB Data plan would cost you 1 x $2 Sim + 1 X $17.90 voucher and you would have $15 extra credit in your account
  • 1 X $17.90 voucher would get you 2 months of the 2.5GB Data plan and you would have $5 extra credit in your account
  • 1 X $17.90 voucher would get you 4 months of the 1GB Data plan and you would have an extra $5 credit in your account.

Phone Plans: 1 X $17.90 voucher would get you

  • UNLIMITED 7GB when you pay an extra $10 (or add another recharge vouchers)
  • 1 Months of UNLIMITED TEXT 2GB and you would have $15 extra credit in your account
  • 2 Months of AMAYSIM FLEXI and you would have an extra $5 credit in your account.
Please note that the FLEXI plans actually gives you 500MB Data and $19.90 to spend however you like
  • On the PAYG plan, you would have $45 to use in 90 days

These would be the Cheapest Data or Phone deals I've ever seen or a recurring basis (depending on how many vouchers you buy and how you use them). Also think about how much money you would be saving compared to being on a postpaid phone plan (For some people, you would probably be saving enough to buy a phone outright).

Im still trying to determine what minimum plan you need to be on for hack to work as more comments come in.

  • Just recharged tonight for the 2nd month as used the $15 for 7gig sign up deal. (Used the current Coles promo and worked fine)
Service is not on par with Telstra speeds and had a few dropouts in known bad Optus locations. But overall very happy for the price

  • So it is actually the money ? If choose FLEXI, why it only has two months of validity ?

    • Because flexi is $20. The $44.90 voucher will go towards 2 months of flexi via auto renew if you have that setup, and leave you with $5 extra credit.

Nice one EC, hope you don't mind me posting the following.
Link to explain how to get $17.90 voucher (really $19.90) -
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/195623

    • +1

sorry didnt factor in the $2 sim, my bad

  • Thanks, big + from me. Could you explain " (or less if you add 3 recharge vouchers)" re the 365 days expiry?

And, any idea of the expiry? I'd like to buy extra for the following (in 365 days?) recharge.

    • basically either

      • 2 X $17.90 vouchers + $10 = $46
      • 3 X $17.90 vouchers and you would have extra ~ $33 in your account valid for a year

EDIT: You would also need to factor in the $2 SIMS cost to get the $17.90 voucher

      • Thanks; so "validity of credit is 90 days" doesnt apply on the 10GB 365 Data Plan? Then I'd get 2 years/20G for 5 x $17.50 (plus 5 x $2)

        • +2

not sure about the 2 years validity. Although to be on the safe side, i would wait till the 1st 10GB runs out before getting the 2nd 10GB

  • Isn't the 10gb 365 day prepaid plan still $75.00 with code DATA25?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194206

  • Can you buy multiple in one transaction? As it need approval on the kiosk. And the lady wasn't too happy to come twice when I bought two packs this morning. Lol.

    • +1

depends on the person serving you.

as with all places, there are the nice ones and not so nice ones.

      • So can you buy multiple packs in one transaction at the self check-out machine? I didn't dare to try as if I added another pack and it didn't work, I would have to ask the lady to come again and cancel the item. I am pretty sure she would kill me…

        • How do you add the recharge voucher item on a self check-out machine?
Not too sure what all the buttons mean :x

    • +15

My lady hasn't done that in a long time.

  • Does doing a recharge on the payg plan roll over the remaining credit for a further 90 days? Thanks.

    • no matter how many vouchers you apply, the credit will be valid for 90 days only. So if you have 56 days left and you added a voucher, the expiry then becomes 90 days.

      • Cool. So I can add 3 vouchers for $60 to get a 10gig data plan, which gives me $35 credit left over, then on the 89th day add another voucher for $20, which gives me a credit balance of $80, on the 178th day add another $20 voucher, balance $125, and finally one more on the 267th day, for balance of $170, buy another 10gig data plan for $100, and still have $70 left over. So $60 a year for 10gig data for the next 2 years, and still have $70 for calls and etc. WIN!

        • +2

if you have a 10GB Plan, the credit remaining is valid for a whole year i.e to the expiry date of the 10GB plan

All other plans (data/phone) is 90 days

        • Great thanks. That makes it even simpler then.

        • +2

@easternculture: I'll just add that if you have an existing 10GB plan, any remaining data will be lost when you add the new 10GB data plan. That was the case for me when I last topped up my plan (lost a whopping 1GB) and the data plan expiry date resets to 365 days from when you purchase the new plan.

        • +1

          @muncan:

wow . I didnt know that

          Thanks for the heads up

  • What's the expiry time for the voucher ?

    • The expiry date on mine is 2 May 2016

      • Thanks. That would be a year.

        • Also, every $10 recharge via amaysim will give you 90 extra days :)

  • I have lived in oz for twenty years but have only recently started paying for my own mobile service, so I am fairly ignorant of the terminology.

I have amaysim and want to keep the number forever. (Ish) I am on a plan called unlimited and am paying about $45-50 a month. It is automatically charged to my credit card. In this instance, would I go up to Coles and buy these data lacks and still be able to stay on my plan? Would the only thing I need to do be to send the voucher number to that number via text? Once my data plan credit gets used up, would amaysim then start billing my credit card again?

Also, wouldn't there be a limit in the number of cards you could buy because don't they take Id and limit the number of SIM cards that any person can have outstanding at any given time?

    Thanks!

    • Firstly, i would go to account setting and change the payment from Credit Card to Bpay/Vouchers.

Then i think you would only be able to benefit from only 12 vouchers ( for 12 months of your unlimited plan) as vouchers have an expiry for 12 months.

Also, wouldn't there be a limit in the number of cards you could buy because don't they take Id and limit the number of SIM cards that any person can have outstanding at any given time?

Some places take ID and some places Dont. From comments in other deals, looks like there is no restriction on the amounts of SIM cards you buy.

For the sake of the deal, its limited to one per person at coles, but some are reporting to be able to buy more than one, depending on the attendant serving you at the service desk.

SO you may need to visit coles more than once for multiple vouchers

      Hope this answers your questions

      • Can i buy one sim card and two or more voucher? Or their system is locked to "One voucher per sim card"? Eg; Get one simcard and 10 voucher?

        • +1

          unsure about this.

Hopefully someone tries tomorrow and can report back in the comments

        • @easternculture: If this didnt work i will be visiting 10 coles stores tomorrow :) Need to sort out my voucher before amaysim change their mind or withdraw their offer :D!

        • @MilfHunter:

At least you can buy one off each counter + the self check-out. So 2 coles should do your job.

        • @MilfHunter:

they wont withdraw the offer. They need another 300K customers (700k to 1 million) to fulfil the pledge for their potential IPO

Amaysim - virtual mobile network operator to IPO

Amaysim drafted in Investec and Reunion last year to help prepare for a first-half float, as its managing director attempted to fulfil a pledge to secure 1 million customers by the end of this calendar year.

        • @easternculture: Amazing piece to read! First time know about this. Good on you OP!

        • @MilfHunter:

Im keeping an eye on the IPO.

          Wouldn't mind investing in Amaysim

        • +1

@easternculture: I will invest in amaysim if they were banned from Ozbargain :)

        • @MilfHunter:

lol. You think they are loosing money with these awesome deals.

It would actually look good to investors when customer base is growing

        • @easternculture: I will have to know how much Amaysim paying to Optus for the 7gb data and unlimited calls to be able to answer this question :)

        • @MilfHunter:

Well apparently amaysim has a $600 Million enterprise value,

  • So you can buy one year worth of vouchers and use them as you need? I didn't know I can stack vouchers?

    • yes, but whether or not you would be able to do them in one transaction may be an issue to some.

You may need to visit coles more than once for multiple vouchers

  • +1

Wouldn't Flexi be better than PAYG, since you can use the flexi credit to buy data packs anyway? So you recharge on flexi plan, use the flexi credit to get the data plan you need and also get a bonus 500mb and cheaper calls compared to PAYG.

    Is there anything I'm missing?

    • correct. Just looking at the plan online and it says

      FLEXI
      Use credit how you like
      $19.90/30 days

SO you get 500Mb data and $19.90 to spend how you like . The $19.90 would be valid for 30 days though so if u think you'll use them up, then its a better deal

      Good find

      • I haven't been able to use that FLEXI credit to purchase Data Packs previously though. Is there a special method or something I'm missing? Because otherwise, it just takes money out of my Credit Card or won't let me complete the transaction when I change Payment Method to BPAY/Vouchers.

    • The issue here is you will only get 30days expiry compare to 90 days in PAYG. I used to get the Flexi plan and use my $19 to buy 2.5gb to get a total of 3gb for $20. I only use $5-$10 in voice calls everymonth.

      • Would the whole $45 recharge last only 30days or just the $20 flexi credit? It'll interesting to know if it'll use the recharge credit or the flexi credit first when you add a data pack.

        • $20 flexi . The remaining will have $90 day expiry

  • +1

I have had the same Optus prepaid number for almost 11 years now and these new plans with the different data's, different expiry dates & multiple SIM purchases etc deals confuse me. Well, I hardly use phones (for either talk or text) so I would probably keep my old prepaid plan for the foreseeable future, it seems.

    • Call them ask for a better deal or you will switch. You may be surprised about the deal or credit they may offer you.

  • +17

Way too complicated… Still didn't understand after reading it over and over for 5 times

    • Spend $19.90 to get $44.90 credit to use on a prepaid plan of your choice.

      • $17.90 recharge voucher + $2 sim card (total $19.90) for $44.90 credit?
Can we add 3 x $17.90 recharge voucher to Single 1x $2 sim card and get 3 x $44.90 credit?

Then after that, activate 365 10gb plan? This will give us 1 year expiry (365 days) for our number , am I rite?
        especially with PayG plan

        So confusing

        • yes

        • @matt.shep:
          Sorry my bad,
I didn't notice the previous deal that TA posted about Coles deal for 1 sim + 1 recharge voucher for 20 bucks
now it all make sense after I saw that post

  • -6

A data plan on the Optus network is not a great thing to have currently, no matter the cost.

  • There's no doubt this is a great deal but if you don't need the unlimited calls and 5gig data then I'm wondering if the $29.90 deal is worth it compared to the $15 vodafone/$10 Optus and the crazy $1 telstra.
Buying 2 would give me three months on that plan at $13.26 per month.

  • is there any risk with amaysim changing how this works a few months down the track?

    • no, because its a generic recharge voucher

  • +2

Even better if you use the liquorland $100 gift card purchased with the $15 amex cashback.

    • With two Amex cards, I can split this up with 2x $100 purchases and save $30

  • is it right that there are no prepaid phone plan on amaysim with 365 days credit expire? what will be the cheapest phone service for a year with very light usage on amaysim using this deal? thanks.

  • -2

I would also be wary amaysim will soft lock out each number to limit it to one. Maybe in about 30 days. Ie after they have your money.

    They're pretty smart

    • +2

Its a generic recharge voucher, so they cant do that

      • Thanks EC.

      • it's generic.. but they do know your number that it is going to… so couldn't they bar you using more than one? (and I mean Amaysim, not Coles)

        It's just like you can't refer yourself…

        • +1

so much of "……." in your comment

  • So to get a year of credit, I'd buy 12 sim + recharge packs & apply 3 every 90 days?

    • apply 3 every 90 days

You dont have to apply 3 every 90 days. You can add one per month if you wish

      • +1

Can get 14 months. Do one per month then 3 on the last month since credit expire 90days after u claim it

        • +2

your thinking like a true ozbargainer now

  • Nice deal EC. I haven't had a new phone plan in forever but my current provider has jacked up their prices so I'm keen to switch.
How does this data pack work with normal call credit ? Would I buy 3 vouchers for $135 credit, then nominate the 'as you go plan' with the $99.90 10gb/365 data pack and have ~$34 for 90 days call credit ? Then just top up the call credit as required for the next 270 days until the data runs out ?

    • When you login into your online account, it will give you an option to upgrade your plan.

You can then choose what service you want to add to your account.

  • +1

Is it worth adding the link to the referral wiki to the original post? An extra $10 credit on signup

  • This is pretty cool, thanks:
    The 10GB 365 Data Plan would cost you 2 x $2 Sim + 2 X $17.90 vouchers + $10.10 payment (or less if you add 3 recharge vouchers) = $49.90

If you top up with a credit card do you have to do so in $10+ increments? I.e. is it actually possible to add the 10c somehow or would I need to top up $15 (or referral credit +$10)?

    • +1

I.e. is it actually possible to add the 10c somehow or would I need to top up $15 (or referral credit +$10)?

Not sure what the minimum Bpay is, but i would just bpay $1

You would find your bPay reference number in your online account

  • MY account account for call/sms and credit shows both credits last until XX XX 2016, after I bought the data 10G pack (a little while ago)

so is that meam you can recharge up to $120(for example)
then get the 10G Data pack which is valid for 365 days
then BOTH your data and call credits will expire in 365 days?
    Someone can try this way?

    • If you buy another 10GB data pack over the one you have, apparently all the remaining data is fortified.

But to answer your question, if your on an annual data plan, whatever +ve credit in your account remains valid till the expiry of your 12 month data plan

      • oK.
So only worth for people who are "new" to the 10G data plan (if they want both call and data to expire in 365 days, without having to recharge every 3-4 months for call/sms)

  • sorry for my silly question…

    say, if i bought 2 sets of the SIM $2 + $17.9 voucher, i got $44.9 x 2 = $89.8.
then I select 2GB Unlimited ($29.9 auto renew for every 30 days), and I should still have $59.9 after 1st month. After 2nd month, i still have $30. At the 3rd month, would the system simply deduct $29.9 from my $30 remaining credit to renew for another 30 days? or i still have add another recharge voucher?

    • +1

as long as your +ve balance is enough to renew your plan, then yes

  • Amaysim should seriously offer you a job EC.

    • +3

they should make me their official ambassador

  • +5

OK, just back from Coles, and here is some good news to share. OP, please update if possible. Thanks.

    1. You can buy multiple packs in one transaction on the kiosk.

All you need to do is scan the barcode on the SIM pack, then add $44.90 voucher, you can do this as many times as you like.

    2. SIM card pack is running low, the first store I went to had no stock. I put all SIM packs back after purchasing. If you don't need the SIM card pack, please put it back t, so other people can take advantage of the promo.

    3. You can actually get the 11G DATA for as low as $39.80 plus $18.90 to spend. Here are the steps, (Theoretically it should work, but I haven't tried)

    a. Buy 2 x SIM pack @ $19.90 each. If you have Amaysim account use your own account as referral or pick up one from the link in the OP. So the main account will have $10, and the new SIM1 pack will have $10. Use the new SIM as referral and activate the other new SIM, so you will have $20 on new SIM1 and $10 on new SIM2.

    b. Activate the other new SIM and take advantage of $1 1G promo by using 3HDMDG on SIM2, so you will have 1G extra to use.

    c. Recharge the new SIM pack with two vouchers, so you will have $109.80 in new SIM1, and use it to buy a 10G pack.

After all , you will have

$10 credit added to your existing Amaysim account if you have one.

10G data on SIM1 and additional $9.90 to spend.

1G data on SIM2 and additional $9 to spend.

If you don't care about the 1G data, please put the 2nd SIM pack back for others. Thanks.
    • I like your idea of sharing.

Question is can I bring my sim pack into a different Coles and scan it again through the kiosks?

      Cheers

      • Theoretically, you can. Evan from WOW. The barcode is the same.

    • If you have Amaysim account use your own account as referral

They would be able to track that if you use the same personal details. It will then invalidate the T&C of the refer a friend program and you possibly wont get the credit

1G data on SIM2 and additional $9 to spend.

i was told that the $10 referral does not work with the $1 for 1GB promotion

SIM card pack is running low, the first store I went to had no stock.

Its the SIM pack barcode that matters. Theoretically, you can buy a $2 sim from any coles, then ask the service attendant to scan that barcode for every transaction you make. Keep that barcode with you for every time you visit coles to buy more recharge vouchers.

    • Deleting - someone has the same idea

  • +1

Can someone please upload a clear high resolution image of the Amaysim SIM Card barcode from coles
