if anyone wants to earn me points, i can give you my etihad guest number.
its gold so you'll get lounge access and priority boarding.

    • Bargain!!

Will not work as you need to be flying.

      • -4

        yes it will…. http://www.etihadguest.com/en/programme/benefits/gold/

        Family Membership
Etihad Guest lets you pool all the Etihad Guest Miles earned by anyone in your family into one single account and benefit from the added flexibility of a Family Membership - to be shared and enjoyed by everyone.

I still can't see how they will have lounge access if you are not flying. I am gold Etihad and Qantas and I have to be one of the Flyers when taking guests into the international lounges.

        • @danielh:
ive never been asked to show my card at check in or at the lounge, once it says gold on the boarding pass youre fine.
ive given my guest number to 2 friends and they didnt get asked anything.

@tuzii: Your quote around Family Membership is for family members with their own Etihad Guest account pooling all miles into one account. They still have to fly under their own account though. It's similar to Velocity (and I'm doing it for both Etihad and Virgin). If you're saying you can just hand out your Etihad number to friends who can then earn you points, that's amazing and most likely a flaw. I once booked a flight for my dad and mixed up his frequent flyer number with mine, he was advised upon check-in that his details didn't match (and we have the same surname).

  • I've tried to sign up to the guest program for a week now, I never get the confirmation email. Anyone having the same issue?

    • +1

Welcome to Etihad. You'll be admitted when we'll tell you. We don't know when we'll tell you.

Seriously though, my limited email dealings with Etihad have never been encouraging.

  • I booked flights with Etihad last week, can I still claim these extra miles?

    • +1

That sounds like a question only an etihad staff member can accurately answer. Perhaps you should call them, then let us all know..

  • We've got to fly to Dublin next year (five tickets) and this is the best price I've seen so far but I think the local benefits offered by Virgin Velocity are better than what we'd get from Ethiad Guest. Am I missing something?

My plan is to pool the rewards of 5 tickets so I can get platinum for as long as possible and I'm currently gold on velocity.

    • Sound like you've answered your own question

    • Can you pool tier points on Eithad, I would be surprised if you could, I have only heard of pooling miles before

        • from the Ethiad link you posted:

Family Guests enrolled in a Family Membership continue to receive 100% of the Etihad Guest Tier Miles* they earn and carry on receiving all their personal tier benefits - so they'll also be eligible for promotion to Etihad Guest Silver and Etihad Guest Gold, and all the benefits of membership of these exclusive premium tiers.

Register for Family Membership now >

*Tier benefits are non-transferable. Each member within a Family Membership will maintain and continue to enjoy the benefits according to their own Etihad Guest tier level based on their individual travel.

So no pooling of tier points with them, just miles. Velocity seems to be different though…

        • @Dubbin:

          From the velocity T&C's:

13.2 A maximum of two Members of the Pool may be 18 years or over in age.

13.3 A maximum of four Members of the Pool may be under 18 years of age.

13.4 If a Member of a Family Pool relationship turns 18 years of age and this results in the Family Pool having three Members 18 years or older, that Member will be automatically removed from the pool. If the family prefers to remove a different adult Member from the Family Pool, they may modify the Family Pool under clause 13.13.

        • @Dubbin: I think you may be right and I was reading it wrong. Velocity is a clear winner then!

Important to remember with Velocity that status points can't be transferred, so if you're planning to pool it has to be set up before you fly.

  • I'm assuming these bonus points can then be transferred over to Virgin Velocity points?

    • May I ask why you would assume that? Velocity and Guest are different programs and I'm not aware of a way to transfer Guest miles to any other freq flyer program.

      • You are right but also wrong, Velocity and KrisFlyer are transfer partners at 1:1.35 each way and BA Avios/Avios/Iberia Avios are also transfer parners due to being the same company at 1:1

        • I'm aware of that. But that has nothing to do with Etihad Guest.

        • @bozbargain:

Sorry read your comment wrong, thought you were meaning a blanket different programs means no transfer, not specific to Etihad Guest, hence the 2nd part of my comment

  • Would you earn at an increased rate on Velocity as well?

    • Doubt it
