Just browsing through BigW Catalogue, they are selling Optus Phone & Mobile Broadband for $19 which includes 3-months Netflix, similar to this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/190432

Decent alternative if you had a hard time finding stock from last deal, or decided that you need more cheap Netflix. It ended up being $6.33/month.

  • Looks like a rather basic mobile phone. Might be alright as a backup use phone.

At least that Optus Samsung Galaxy Young 2 for $59 listed in the catalogue right next to it is an actual Smartphone.

    • +3

It's not really about the phone, it's about the netflix time. Netflix starts at $8.99 which is the lowest tier… this will give you enough credit to get 4 months of the medium tier or 3 months on the highest.

Still a good deal even without a phone…i wouldn't pay more since you'd get a better phone off alibaba

      • I foind a great use for this phone this weekend: FM radio at the footy! The famcy shmancy phones new days have speed the radio function!

      • +1

Isn't it 3 months of the medium tier?

        • My bad, it's a $36 credit. So yes, 3 months on medium

  • +4

Good deal but BigW catalogue description for Optus ZTE F286 -
    • iOS and Android app controlled
    • Track steps, calories burnt and sleep patterns
    • Set personal goals.

    Really ?????

    • +5

I think they accidentally copy pasted a description for FitBit :D

There's a lot of 'Buy XX and get Y-months free Netflix' deals these days…. are there any restrictions with stacking multiple these deals together to get an ongoing cheap Netflix subscription?

    • +1

No restriction. I have stacked about 5-6 of them.

    • +2

No - they stack - a lot of us have 12+ months from previous deals.

Just need to activate the sim by 5 July 2015, claim the voucher with 14 days of activation, then redeem the voucher by 30 September 2015.

      • +2

It's not so much they give out months, they give you about 35 bucks of credit to your netflix account.

  • does the sim card have to be activated in the phone it comes with?

    • +1

I activated it in another phone, works fine.

      • +5

awesome i might buy 8 of the phones and sell them without the sim cars to CEX in sydney fopr $16 each cash and get two years netflix for $16.40 thats cause my mother has a staff discount card :).

        • +1

          yo mama

        • +2

That's some next level stuff there…. wonder how they'd react when you show up with 20 phones for sale

        • +2

@krisspy: Probaly the same as when i arrived with 5 of the Y550 the first time it was posted for a cool $15 profit each phone. lol

  • Can I use the free 3 months Netflix for US account?

    • You can use it for ANY Netflix account.

      • +1

O rly? I've been ignoring all these deals because I've got a US account. Damn, time to look for this phone

        • +1

I've activated 3 on my US account thus far. I bought 2 of these phones when $14.50. :)

        • @Ronnnie:
          I bought 4 at that price. :)

      • That would be great I'll buy it then try if its working.

  • Better when they were half price

Edit : yes work with us account

  • +1

I bought 5 of these yesterday and I have activated 1 so far yesterday. Do I just need to wait for a text with the voucher or do I need to do something else? These sims also have $3 on it so can last for 2 or 3 days with $1/$1.50 days.

    • +2

Yes you get text with a link, which takes you to your code to put on your Netflix account. The time it takes seems random, i had to wait a week with my second code.

  • what the expiry on the netflix code you get?

  • Here we go again …. Great deal for Netflix. I bought 10 of these on the $14.50 deal - and sold all 10 of them in one sale for $80 on Gumtree after activating the Netflix vouchers and confirming via online chat that all 30 months were added to my account. Good idea re CEX - how do you know whether it is the $16 A or $11 B ?

    • OK. I'm guessing A and B refers to the condition (?).

    • +1

A is brand new and since ill only bee opening removeing sim cards and then driving down the road to sell they will class as A which is brand new. i did the same for the Y550 when i removed the vodafone sim packs.

  • There's a pain in the butt for people trying to redeem the free Netflix codes. There're already >300 whinging posts here:

  • Idgi whats the big deal with the netflix offer? A family deal will always trump these offers, won't they?

    • Tell me where I can get netflix for $1 a month

      • This is $6 a month, family plan is like $4 a month

        • Link to family plan? AFAIK the plans are $14.99 for 4 simultaneous users… or $8.99 for single… i dont see a "family" bundle anywhere (doesn't make sense to sell 4 single users at a discount).

After selling the phones to cex, you're paying $1 a month.

        • Not sure what you mean by family plan, if you're talking about the $14.99 plan shared between 4 people ($3.74/person), with this deal you can pay even less, $1.97/person ($19/$35.97 * $14.99)

        • @krisspy: yeah $14.99 for 4 users. which is like 3.7475 per person. Why can't people just do that? I dunno, don't people have friends/neighbours/workmates?

        • @paperkut: what does this mean: $19/$35.97 * $14.99. Not sure how you got to the $1.97 figure either

        • @ippy: dude… do you still not get it? You get a $36 credit with this, this will give you 2 months of the 4 user plan + $6 left in your account.

          You can either pay the full $14.99 per month or;
Buy this for essentially half that price

Sell the phone at cex + share it with people then you're making a profit and getting free netflix. If you prefer to pay more money for less, then by all means.

Why can't people just do that?

Next thing you know you can't log in because someone's handed your password around.

        • @krisspy: oh hold on I didn't think you could get the 4 user plan?

          T&Cs says:
Fixed broadband and postpaid mobile customers will receive a 6-month subscription to Netflix's 'Two Screens at a Time Streaming Plan' (for a total value of $71.94). Prepaid customers will enjoy a 3-month subscription to the same plan (for a total value of $35.97)

Well, presumably your mates/family won't do something that dickish.

  • Got my codes via sms after about 2 days. Anyone know how long the modem ones take? I assume this comes through email?

  • Are there any triband 3g dumb phones like the one above?
I believe Telstra no longer has 3G 2100 MHz in my area and definitely no 2G since it was shutdown last year….

  • I just went and got the phone. Woman at the electronics counter was not aware of the deal, display showed $29 and here catalogue didn't show it, but it scanned in at $19

  • Managed to get 3 phones (all they had in stock yesterday) - they didn't seem to know about the offer but went through at $19 fine on the till.

All activated now, just waiting to get Netflix codes texted to me!!

  • Out of interest, what's the longest folk have had to wait for the Netflix SMS to arrive? I received one for my new SIM-only plan within a couple of days, similarly for one of my PAYG, however for the other PAYG ones it has been a couple of weeks now and still no sign of a code? On the upside the $16/phone from CeX has arrived in my bank account!
