  • nice signed up for 6months

better than the free 3 months deal

now going to research kodi with fusion

    • You won't look back after fusion ;)

      • I installed kodi with fusion, its pretty nice :)
        thanks for the tip.

I added some addons such as phoenix and genesis

        is streaming abit slow?

and what other addons do you recommend for movies and tv?

  • worked for me…

i cancelled my free 3 months sub and got the free 6 month sub (different email)

  • "You cannot watch Presto on a jailbroken device."
    EAD Presto. EAD.

I have no intention of taking advantage, but seeing these offers gives me a glorious stab of schadenfreude, knowing that Foxtel is at last getting its comeuppance.

    • Foxtel own 100% of the movie side of Presto, and 50% of the entertainment side.

  • thank you.. was looking for 3 months free deal but this tops it.

  • Well this is embarrassing, just looked at the presto movie line up and it's pretty much the same as what I'm getting on foxtel for $120 a month….

    • +2

You are doing it wrong if you only have Foxtel for movies.

  • hmm is there Game of thrones??

For those who are interested to see the movie list

  • What is the picture quality like compared to other streaming services?

    • +1

I've only played one movie so far via Chromecast, and the quality is no where near as good as Netflix on my TV's app. I have a 20mbps connection. With Netflix I can barely tell I'm watching from a streaming service; with this it looks like I'm on 512kbps.

      • +6

You do realise that Presto is only SD?!
Compared to Netflix and Stan, Presto is complete rubbish considering you pay the same/more than the others.

        • +6

So no native apps on most devices, terrible android app, can't use it on jailbroken devices, no HD, more expensive than Netflix. Yeah… good luck with that Presto.

          @puffinfresh:
          LOL

It's no wonder they are giving away 6 month free trials. You'd have to be bonkers to actually pay for it.

        • +2

It's not right to call Presto "SD". That's an insult to Standard Definition, which is actually quite watchable and clear. Not at all the blurry low bitrate mess that Presto delivers. Let's be clear… Presto quality is worse than SD.

        • +1

I just one cannot expect better from Foxtel, a company that has been ripping us off for over a decade. Presto is just a cheap and nasty Netflix wannabe.

        • @Thaal Sinestro:

Ahh, I was wondering why there were Presto adverts on Foxtel.

  • Once you go netflix you never look back.

    • I must be the only one who did. I found most of the series and movies I wanted to watch were not available.

      • Did you use Getflix/Uflix to access content from other regions? Cause I get what you mean if it was the Aussie Netflix server.

        • Yeah, getflix/ US netflix. Granted, the shows were usually a bit dated (80s, 90s and 2000s) but were popular. Sometimes I would get the symbol come up saying they were available on DVD? Top Gun was an example.

  • +3

Netflix + Getflix (or some other SmartDNS service) is really the cream of the crop right now. And there's a Netflix client that will work on just about every device imaginable.

Presto is utter rubbish in comparison. Whoever they hired to code their streaming client needs to be fired. Seriously. They should just cut their losses and get someone in who actually knows what they're doing. They offered me an additional 3-month free trial after I had initially cancelled but I can't take advantage of it using my WDTV Live, or my Nexus Player, or ANY other device I have. It's truly beyond ridiculous.

    • +1

I can say the same for Foxtel Play. I wonder if the same team that coded Foxtel Play coded Presto? Foxtel Play does support more devices (gaming consoles in particular), but the interface is HORRIBLE and really, really slow. And it has some crazy limitations - i.e. 3 registered devices, and only ONE of them can be an Xbox 360. If you have more than one Xbox 360 (I have 5 of them), you're screwed! Foxtel/Presto need to fire their design and coding teams and start again from scratch.

  • I'm trying to set up an account but when I press the next button it does nothing, I'm on a mac using safari. It's like something is blocking it.

  • Thanks for posting this deal. Never planned on getting Presto. But for this price. I might give it a go :)

    • +2

Even at this price it's not worth it

  • Thanks OP! Got 6 months of Free Netflix anyways but couldnt pass up on a freebie.

  • Thanks OP. done

  • +1

they cant even give it away

Presto / Stan…. the end is nigh

  • Thanks op :)

  • I got all excited for a minute, I'm with Telstra so it'd be quota free.

Then I looked and realised they don't have a Presto app for any gaming consoles. I use Xbox 360's, PS3 and PS4 for Netflix and Hulu Plus. I have no interest in watching TV / movies on my mobile phone or tablet. Well, I guess I'm not their target market, so it's a no-go for me.

  • +1

Gave this a + because free is free but have to agree with other comments. I have the Huawei Y550. Netflix, Google Play and Mezzmo apps are installed and all work brilliantly with Chromecast for me. Downloaded the Presto app - "Sorry, device not supported".

So have to use my PC to cast. It works, but I'd describe the picture quality as poor, Netflix SD is so much better. My TV is a long way from PC, so to pause I'll need to go to another room. For free, I might watch a show they have if I'm desperate. To pay, I'd want it to be convenient and have decent picture quality.

  • Code not working anymore :(

    • Just worked for me, possibly a $1 charge on the card to test it…

If it's free i'll give them the honour of testing their service for 6 months.

      Thanks OP.

  • +1

Nice one! For these sorts of things I use my commbank travel money card which has no money on it as backup in case I forget.

    • Thanks for that tip!

  • Has anyone been able to successfully redeem this code on an existing account? I used a month or so free coupon last year and then cancelled the service. When I try to enter this promo code with my existing account, I get an invalid code message. Happy to use a different email address, just wanted to see if it was possible to use existing account.

  • no wonder free for 6 months, the apps sucks, and loading/buffering is taking taking taking soooooooo long and still no movie watched.

but still upvote due to OP effort!

  • Mostly quite old movies or tv stuffs. Runs well on pc. Didnt work for android Tv though.

  • no smart tv app. I'll stick with netflix.

  • Presto launched their Samsung Smart TV app today… so another option to watch nothing.

    • In SD ;)

  • Anyone know if presto is unmetered on bigpond broadband cable?

  • Just signed up. Will be charged $0.00 for first 6 months and $14.99 thereafter, unless cancelled (which can be done online). Initial charge of $1.00 was made to the credit card to verify it (which is deleted after seven days). Signup stated that data was unmetered on Telstra broadband.

  • anyone able to play on TV via chromcast from their app..?

    • Yes, I tried AirPlay, but no go, so I went out and bought a Chromecast adapter and it all worked perfectly.

      • thanks. i just don't see the chromecast logo on my ios device when i play a movie.. will try it again this evening

  • The Chromecast icon is always up in the top right hand corner on the title bar that says 'presto'. You'll need to download the Chromecast app for it to appear.

  • I signed up using an old prepaid visa gift card that has $0.3 balance so I don't need to worry about it renewing.

I am looking forward mainly to watching X Files. I have never watched it before and I think it's about time I got into it. Also, there will be a new season out too. Big fan of Duchovny (saw him in Californication) and Gillian (The Fall).

    • +1

I love David Duchovny in Aquarius. He looks and acts just like an older version of Fox Mulder, lol.

      • Yeah, that might be worth checking out too. Thanks.

    • +1

Good news! I just heard that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are returning in January 2016 with an all new series of The X-Files. There is a trailer just released. Happy, happy, happy!

  • Is there a way to delete the watch history?

  • It's not expired, I just used it successfully!

  • They charged me 9.99 on my credit card. how do I cancel the subscription ? I can't see any way to remove my credit card details
