wow sounds like an epic deal… wonder if I can get elsewhere (im in NSW)

  • I was with vodafone about 4 years ago and had constant dropouts and poor reception. Can people give information on if they have improved since this time? (this was when everyone was calling them vodafail and they lost about 30% of their customers)

Looking to get a new plan as currently with Optus, I only get emergency call only reception in my home (Canning Vale area in WA).

I was with Vodafone previously, never had a problem with them. Currently on Telstra looking to move back to Vodafone.

      I live in inner-west Sydney.

Sorry, i can only vouch for Voda reception in Western Sydney being better then optus.

I've never had an issue personally

Thanks for the responses all. I was looking towards Telstra to get the best reception possible but this offer is a lot better than anything telstra can offer at the same price. Will probably grab a $2 sim to check the reception at home, or is the online coverage checker really accurate these days?

edit: saw that it needs to be added to an existing accoun - back to my $2 sim, could I get a $2 sim and then add it onto that account?

        • no, because this is a post-paid plan / account

$2 SIM is a prepaid account

        • Ah okay. when you add a plan to an existing account, do you know if the plans can be billed separately (have a relative on voda)?

        • @frogduck: no, that's the whole point of having it on one account

I was with Vodafone a few years ago too. Was terrible! So I switched to telstra and had excellent service / quality. But at the end of last year my contract finished up and all their deals weren't looking too competitive and their sales department basically wouldn't match my existing deal I had with them. So I switched back to Vodafone. I haven't had a single problem with Vodafone since I signed back up with them. They've definitely improved since the whole vodafail debacle.

        Thanks, that's reassuring to hear!

hi @frogduck, i've been with Voda for about 10 years in WA and have to admit their network is still the same (for me). They still drop out near Stirling Train Station, or as you come out of perth underground.

Might I suggest trying it for a month in your usual commute / living areas. Voda do a 30 day guarantee and you can try them to see if it has improved. I recently got the $50 red plan for $35(forever, not one month only) and its a pretty good deal.

      • this one is $35 for the duration also + 5gb :)

I'm canning vale as well duck. Happy to give out my street name by pm.. Vodafone via Vodafone and lebara excellent. Telstra via telstra and boost excellent. Optus via optus and amaysim crap.

    • Excellent Vodafone reception Brisbane metro with a 25km radius it drops off as you head towards jimboomba and beauy.

  • hey so did you actually end up getting this deal?

    U sure it's not just a data add-on?

    • yeah I got it. it gets added on to existing account

  • Never had a problem. Their 4G is lightning quick in Melbourne anyway.

  • I just called and the lady just tod me that its discount for existing cutomer only.So which mean I have to ask my partner to add 1 more service to his number.

    • yes… deal already stated that…

  • I called Mo's in Sydney (Central Station) and they said they could do $35 with 4GB…. pffffffffffft

and supposedly today is "last day only"

not as good. but still good lol

DISCLAIMER : Her English wasn't great… not sure she 100% understood the price was $35, not $50

    • everyday is the last day :)

  • dude u changed the title but not the description…

So is it actually $35 ongoing after the first month?? coz that's the deal-maker…

  • 5GB is a fantastic deal. I got this previously, but only 3GB.

    • yeh true, but I don't want to pay $50.

      • +1

Pretty sure it's 35 bucks ongoing.

  • Workaround for existing customers (at any Vodafone store)
    1) Sign up for a $20 data plan for 2.5GB data, making you a Vodafone post-pay customer.
    2) Sign up for the additional Red 50 plan for $35 and 5GB data. This is half price for the first month.
    3) After one month, cancel the data sim and you have 5GB data for $35! Did this at the Vodafone kiosk in Claremont, WA a few hours ago and it worked perfectly. Staff were very helpful :)

    • hey so I don't understand… so is it only $35 for first month… or on-going?

      • +2

        It's $35 every month forever.
For the first month you have to pay for the $20 data plan too, but it's half price for the phone plan so around $40 for the first month and then $35 after that.

        • cool thanks for confirming

        • Is that too late to sign up $20 tomorrow and after that go to $35??

    • +1

After the first month you will realise the 30% discount disappear on the bill.

Because the 30% discount on $50 SIM Only plan only applies on the additional service, once the first service (Data Plan) cancelled, you will lose the benefit for the second number.

      I'm associated with Vodafone.

      • you mean "since" instead of "once"?
but good to know, but really it depends on the T&Cs of the deal…

If they're poorly written then maybe can fight for it

        • Sorry busying wrapping up from a long shift, thanks for correction. ;)

        • Actually the T&C from head office is pretty clear, but some stores choose misleading customer in order to make double sale, so ……

        • @cleverbook: no don't get me wrong, Im sure head-office doesn't want customers doing this.

What I mean is the T&Cs in any promotional material and any paperwork the customer gets after signing up.

Ive gotten out of a plan with Voda due to sloppy paperwork by a staff.

      • the rep I spoke to told me if I kept the plan for a month and then cancelled it the discount would stay, which he apparently confirmed with HQ.
will have to wait and see

    • But doesn't cancelling the data plan mean you pay $50?

I believe one of the conditions was that you need to have an two plans under the same name.

      • yeh this post doesn't make it clear. just says need an existing "account"

But if the condition is need to have two plans, then yeh.. wont work
