If you have more than 1 AMEX - better way to do it is through gift card purchases
For example buy 3x David Jones $200 gift cards in separate transactions
Get $40 credit back from AMEX on each of the gift cards
Then go buy a $600 Dyson, effectively paying $480

Also as per above post 'overtime2000' has been able to get the $40 Amex rebate on a giftcard.
Both worked for me. The initial gift card purchase and also the item purchase using the dj gift cards. Both giving 7%. The 7% has appeared on my account, but still 'pending'if you know what I mean
I have actually received 7% back on each of mt gift card purchases. But it is yet to be verified fully with cash rewards

Apparently the additional discount was because of a Dyson manufacturer rebate which ended on Sunday. I still got it for $479 though with some creative negotiating.
Managed to make my spare small motorhead from an old handheld work with the V6. The bastards intentionally make subtle design changes to make these non-interchangeable but with a little bit of work with the Bremel I managed to shave down the connector enclosure and make it fit perfectly. Can't even tell it's been tampered with ;) Managed to beat the system!!

I've questioned DJ's on their pricing as they are only providing 10% discount on RRP now when their advertising states it should be between 15% and 30%.
Yeah exactly - Their response was the 15-30% is only on a 'range of devices' and some Dysons are still 20% off. Although this is a grey area as 15-30% keeps appearing below EVERY item with an asterisk.
FYI - it's back down to $479.20 at DJs. just purchased one for click/collect Sydney City. Also got my $40 statement credit from AMEX.
