  • Any good meat specials to stack this with? Not finding much that super excities me…

    • Same, nothing screams a "special" even with the discount on the items we usually buy from the meat section

      • Regular Mince $7/kg - 20% - 5% = $5.32/kg
        Chicken Breast RSPCA approved $9/kg - 20% - 5% = $6.84/kg

I think they're both pretty good deals.

    • Here is the post with the specials starting on Wednesday…

Mmmmm if I'm going to buy meat from the supermarkets, I'll go at the end of the day and just get those close to used by date major % off ones. They're just as good and probably even better than the "fresh" ones.

How can older meat be better than fresh meat?

      • Because some find them tastier when they're more matured. ;)

Clever Woolies… Discount on meat on "World meat free day" 15-Jun …..

    • Or perhaps they don't want those meats go to the bin once it pass the expire date

      • Doesn't happen.
Meat with the used by of that day is taken off show before the day of trade.

Enjoy 'butcher' meat in store while it lasts, soon it will all be cut off-site.

        • I thought Woolworths was pulling down some of the walls so that customers could see all the fresh foods being prepared before them.

        • I'm more than happy to get it from the butcher. Why is that so ?

        • @pointscrazy:

Possibly for some of the bakery departments that aren't open to the store, but in 6 weeks time all butchers (in vic at least) are either out of a job, or can apply for a position elsewhere in the store or at the processing plants where everything will be cut, packed and shipped out to stores to be filled straight to shelf.

Most knew stores over the last couple of years have been built without butcher areas and this is how they've been operating since opening, now the older stores are switching over.

Its all about the bottom line, and in-store butchers are yet another department they could cut to save costs.
Its a bit of a joke really, as woolworths is the only brand from the company (apart from BWS) that are doing well, but are having to save money to support Masters and BigW.

  • if thats the best you got woolies im off to costco

  • Real moksha would never approve.

Before you go and buy a load of meat, I recommend you watch 'forks over knives' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtnlwqEii2I, we have always been meat eaters and have done a complete flip on meat since last week, no more meat for us!!

    • We watched the same flick - I hear where you're coming from but I personally feel that as long as you eat a
very moderate amount of meat (and not a meat-centric diet like say the average Yank) you're still getting 75% of the benefits of vegan etc but in a more user friendly model.

But I will agree it's a compelling piece of info - albeit I'd want to know a lot more about the info/background/possibles bias of the maker/experts before I made a massive change based on it.

  • Although marked as expired, this code has just worked for me in WA.it still should be work8ng for click and collect orders, according to the t & c.
