  • Officeworks price beat?

    • +1

Just had success at fyshwick officeworks

  • Can the HDD be easily removed from the enclosure to be used as SATA drive in laptop, etc.?

    • can you try it and let us know, I don't want to risk it ;-)

      • +2

nope I have one, this is a direct USB drive with no sata connector :(

        • +1

According to this - could easily be a different drive given the time although the name seems to be the same - it is SATA.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124503

        • Uhmm, so which is it SATA or not? Though it looks like it may be 15mm high so thicker than can normally fit in a laptop.

        • +2

@dzhay: unfortunately with ours we thought the same, purchased it and noticed the case is way too small to have a drive and mini usb adapter, tore it down and found the usb plug soldered directly to the drive, no ability to change it to a sata.

    Sooo cheapppp

  • Anyone tried plugging a 2TB into their WDTV Live? Not sure if it'll work with a 2TB drive.

    • Via USB? No reason why not.
They'll take ALL sorts. 2x dual USB dock, each with 2x 2Tb drives (total 8tb) without issue.

      • Thanks for the heads up :)

  • Picked up one from the last deal a few days ago and now we have the new price record!

  • +4

thanks OP, you should sign for Mate rate for $10 discount too, came in-store and ask staff member for it

    • thanks using my $10 mate rate. I almost forgot about it.

    • +1

Can anyone sign up to mate rate?

Is it just a once off $10 discount?

    • +1

Found my code from sometime in January after forgetting about it… pushed me over the line to buying this

      • +1

better hurry as it is gonna be OzBargained soon lol

        • Managed to sneak in an order before it went out of stock - 78 bucks click and collect was too good to ignore

        • Hard drive secured

      • same here

  • could this be used as replacement for the 500gb in the ps4 or x1

    • +1

You can't replace the internal on the XB1, but you very much can use this as an external for the XB1.

Price matched at OfficeWorks on Bourke Street in Melbourne. Total came to $84.22.

    Thank you OP.

    • Will go to Officeworks today to grab it. Nice!

      • better to save more if you count that few bucks, go to DSE store and sign for mate rate to get $10 discount

        • If you go to deal, it is said that price is ONLINE only. Can I get same price in the store? If I buy online, I won't be able to apply that $10 discount since I haven't had the mates rate yet.

        • @fvalemus:

Online only. You must order on-line using click and collect if you want to pickup in store and avoid paying shipping.

I normally just use Officeworks for convenience. Since they are alot closer than all the other stores.

      • As I said elsehwere but got negged into oblivion Office Works Castle Hill refused to price match. Almost did but then manager stepped in and said no.

  • They are getting cheaper by the day, when I bought mine for $100 I thought I got a bargain . .

  • Can you just purchase in store? As I'm not a fan of click and collect (a few bad experiences).

  • Man this is cheap, 3 of these is still way cheaper than a 6tb WD green!

    • Strange comparison.
3 new 2010 corollas are cheaper than 1 new 2014 hilux.
      :D

    • Yes but if you have a 1 bay NAS you can't raid 3 2tbs. Compare apples to apples

  • Ordered one. Thanks.

So many Toshiba drives on sale recently. Makes you think they have a lot of leftover stock…

Because not much people buy Toshiba drives perhaps…

  • made use of my mates rates offer ($10 off) - sitting in inbox for few months. props op…

  • Thanks OP. Bought one

    temporarily out of stock?

    • It could be a computer glitch but if you check the stock availability by selecting "Check Store Stock" once you find the item in the USB & Hard Drive category under Computer & Tablets in the home page, type in the Postcode or suburb name you will get a different result. I found stock is still available in a lot of stores in WA.

  • Procrastinated for a while with it in my cart for store pickup. Went out of stock while in cart, but still let me checkout. Hopefully all good

  • -2

Office works castle hill almost price matched thrn manager stepped in and said I have to call 1300 online store for price match by which time its out of stock. Waste of time and petrol.

    • Sharing your bad luck, or criticising the deal?

      • -1

People hve become so sensitive here! Do you see it mention Officeworks anywhere in the deal? (Sure the comments yes, but the guy got the deal and was trying to be helpful). I could have clicked. I'm just exhausted chasing up my purchases with DSE. Oh well. What I really want is a WD Elements 2TB for similar price.

        • I didn't neg you, btw. But when you don't + a great deal, yet complain about time and petrol wasted, chasing a pricematch somewhere else (commonly said by whiners here)… it's comes-across poorly.

        • -3

          @Utopian:

Mate if you're not even allowed to have a whinge when you miss out this place is going to the dogs.

        • -3

          @Utopian:

And btw I thought it would be worth mentioning in case someone else put off buying a DSE online deal and gambled that Officeworks would price match. Clearly I should have just bought online. But instead I get negged into obscuring as a whiner. I really am getting quite fed up with this place.

  • Price matched in west ryde, need to include shipping since the cashier say it was online only or something, ended up 91.77

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toshiba-2TB-Canvio-Basic-USB-3-0-…

ds ebay, $91.55 and $6.95 shipping, don't forget cash rewards.

edit: c&c too, if available i guess.

    • +4

That's really dodgy. Stock available in store for ebay purchases, but not purchases made from dicksmith.com.au

      • +1

Dick has rep(s) on OzBargain, so, prices are subjects to … flexibility

        • Not the prices I'm concerned about. Before this item went OS I searched to see if there was stock at my local store but it was out of stock. Go to the ebay listing and the same item is now available at my local store for click and collect.

      • +4

You can try to order from dicksmith.com.au by selecting this item in the USB Hard Drive category under Computer & Tablets in the home page, click Check Store Stock, type in the Postcode or suburb name and order from the store still showing stock available for Click and Collect. I have ordered mine this way.

        • Thanks. Just ordered one. Seems to be in stock at all local stores. Unlike earlier when I checked from the main product page. Would have preferred to get an OW price match but this is better than nothing since its not much further away. Hopefully the order goes through.

        • @g12345567:
Just received an SMS that my order is ready for collection so your order should go through too. cheers

        • I can't see how to check stock on the out of stock item :(

        • @Awsam:
Sorry, looks like they have fixed the glitch as it is also now shown Out of Stock in the way I was checking stock availability.
Looks like you have to buy it for slightly more @ $91.55 thru their eBay listing here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toshiba-2TB-Canvio-Basic-USB-3-0-… which you have already done so as per your comment below.

    • C&C works here, too. I missed out on the DSE direct buy, but the eBay approach worked fine.

      • I went C&C eBay also, $91.50

        • Ditto - they seem to have ended their previous auction item but started a new one at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toshiba-2TB-Canvio-Basic-USB-3-0-… - just bought that one with 2% cash rewards, so just $1.02 off the original price ;) Seems to get good reviews as a drive too on Amazon UK (av 4.5/5 on 468 reviews). A bit surprised C&C takes until Monday but happy to have locked in a good price.

    • i hope you guys remembered to use cashrewards for extra 2% making it $89.72

i'm slightly annoyed cos i only just picked up 2x of these for $96.72 during that 20% off day

and DSE doesn't do change of mind returns anymore :(

PS this deal shouldn't be marked as OOS since it's still available on eBay

  • Order placed but got an email after 30 mins saying order was cancelled due to incorrect card details.

I remember using correct card details. Went in to book now and out of stock. Smells Fishy?

    • Did you use paypal checkout?

      • Nope just used a credit card.

Called back customer service to manually book the same order and he said they can only do a home delivery for manual ones and wud have a delivery charge added.

        • Good for you! I think even with the delivery charge included, it's still a very nice deal! I was really tempted to buy the 2TB for $114 from the deal a couple of days back but didn't buy because I didn't really need another HDD. But when I saw this deal, my impulse bargain buying instinct went crazy and I ended up buying 2 of these delivered to offset the delivery cost a bit :P Now I need to figure out what I'll be doing with the two new ones…haha

  • Order Place and i'm picking up in store after work, I wish I could have gone to OF to get the price beat but I'm at work so i'm gonna suck it up.

  • wow ozbargained in just under 3 hours. ..

    • -3

Lets see what happens in a year or two. You might not think the same that's if it still works

      • Huh? They might not think stock sold out quickly, if the drive dies in a 1-2 years??

  • Price-matched at OW Morley for $84.22

  • In store currently
    2tb $99
    1tb $59
