would be a good deal, if they have the Sony handset :)

  • +1

Might be a great deal for some if you don't use much data per month but 2gb a month can be used up very quickly these days .
$10 charge per gb is quite rich indeed.

My Telstra pre paid costs me $50 per month and I receive 3.8gb from that $50.

Would cost me around $65 per month if I was to changeover with my usual data expenditure.

It may get me a new phone and I might be able to sell it to make around $500 but over 24 months on this plan that basically puts me where I am already ,on pre paid with no contract.

Pretty handy deal if you use under 2gb a month but for me I'd rather my current pre paid offer.

  • -5

24hours contact. no, don't want to be lovked for 24hours.

    • u wot m8?

  • -1

arghhhh! must refrain :( although I do really like the S5 my S4 is still running strong, have two as one had a broken screen and was replaced by insurance then I had the original one fixed anyway.

work provides a plan which is unlimited calls + 6gb data on Telstra. my personal plan runs out next month and I was going to put it on a $20 boost prepaid, $250 calls + 1gb data.

overall cost for 24 months on boost = $480

overall cost for 24 on this plan = $1,080

best case scenario that I sell the phone for $500 - ebay fees = $450, I'll still be paying $630 over 24 months albeit I get a bit more data and calls.

so I will have to pay $150 more over 24 months for data and calls I wont use OR $600 more for a new phone (which sells for $500) and a bit more data and calls I dont need.

  • +1

Can't see if it is a 3G or 4G connection plan?

    • 4G yooo

    • 4GX if your phone supports it

  • 24 months contract. no, don't want to be locked on a 24months contract.

  • !@#$%^&%&, you can add a $40 unlimited call share sim to this

    • How does this work?

    • +1

So this would be beneficial for a family wanting two mobiles.

Get the first phone for $45 as per this deal.

Add a $40 share sim which also entitles you to either a S5 or M8 as well (ends 29/06). Thus Second service for $5 per month less than first.

Now if you sign up for a $40 share sim before 3rd August you are entitled to $100 welcome credit.

      • +1

what is a $40 share sim - Do you have a link to the offer?
        - thanks

        • Via Telstra Live chat just now:

"With our $40 Data share SIM, you can share your monthly data allowances with any Mobile phone, as well as get unlimited Calls, SMS and MMS every month! The $100 Welcome Credit will be automatically applied to your third Telstra bill."

And a follow up by me: "So that'd work well for the wifes phone, we share data and calls?"

Telstra: "Yes, it will work with your wife's phone."

        • @kearnsy: thanks for that!

  • Wanted to find out if I could switch from my current plan ($82 a month, 2.5gb data, $600 calls unlimited texts) to this but they said you can't directly. Asked if I could hypothetically get a prepaid sim and port my postpaid number over, then go from that to the $45 plan. The staff on their 24x7 Chat said that if I did that I'd need to be on prepaid for at least 6 months. Dang :(

    • +1

You pay $82 per month for only 2.5 gb and $600 in calls??

I'd find a better deal ASAP if I were you!

      I pay $50 a month on pre paid,for that I get $50 credit ,$950 in calls and 800mb. With the $50 credit I buy 3gb of data for $49.
So I basically get 3.8gb data and $950 in calls for $50 a month on no contract.

      • lol… They have a phone included for $82/month… hence the extra $32 over the cost of pre-paid.

But this deal is awesome !… best of both worlds.

      • is it with Telstra?

  • currently on a vodafone $49 cap (out of contract) and just signed up for this offer. will sell the phone (samsung) straight away, might sell existing phone (iphone 5) and then buy a iphone 6 64gb

  • All we can see and wait if the deal will be hounoured

    • im going to post the link on their chat and see whether a non-telstra customer will be honoured. why live in hope…

      • +1

why would they put a field asking if you are from another supplier then? you also have to tick the box that gives them permission to port your number from another supplier. the initial screen where it says for pre-paid customers is very misleading.

here is the full plan details:

        https://www.telstra.com.au/help/download/document/personal-c…

        • hangon just finishing the chat…basically, it is a targeted offer but seeing we can see it on the web then it could be all good.

  • I think it is targeted. Because the URL is different to the offer I got.

    Different RRID=

Yes Im currently using Telstra PrePaid. I pay $20 a month for 700MB of data. Im got $140 in credit remain. I hardly make calls.

  • +3

I just spent about 10 minutes on a online chat with telstra, and the rep confirmed that you can port in from another carrier and get this deal.

  • anyway, even if they cancel, it costs just $1 with your credit card

  • +3

I think OP has linked his cashrewards in the link (dclid=CJz_-KvrmMYCFUMZvAodkuwL_g)

    https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/pre-paid_offer?RRID…

You only need the following link:

    https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/pre-paid_offer

    • OP is gonna have some serious $$ to cash in!

    • No way! Seems dodgy lol. I actually changed the codes in the URL to a random number thinking it would stop my order being blocked due to duplication with someone else's previous order somehow, but at least I got around this cashrewards technique then! Does the OP have some explaining to do?

    • +1

It has nothing to do with Cashrewards.

I got the email direct from Telstra it has a different dclid= in it.

      Nothing to do with CR.

  • +2

Why do people keep saying its targeted when it says this!

    http://ctrlv.in/591392

    • And it also says the purchase is for Small Plan.. Nothing mentions unlimited calls..

      • when you sign up and it has a screen showing whats included it mentions unlimited calls mms and text and 2gb data.

  • +2

    Telstra is really becoming competitive.

  • PICK YOUR POISON!!!

    http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6033&idPhone2=…

While I prefer HTC and hate Samsung… I'd say the Samsung is the better phone.

  • Is this available in store?

    • no. says online only

  • What if I am with boost with telstra 4g sim?

  • if im on month to month $35 plan with vodafone, am i able to port my number to telstra? is there any fees? can i get a reply thanks

    • No fees if you port the numbers to Telstra on pre paid/month to month plans
Just mindful of your plan's charging periods(ie. when is the new"month"starts)

    • if you're not locked into a contract, you can definitely port your number over without any extra fees

  • I switched over from Boost prepaid.
Plan on selling the S5 when it arrives. I have too many phones.

  • what happen after 24 months? keep paying $45? or is there any reduced cost for the plan?

    • After 24 months you get on a new better plan or churn to another provider

  • Good deal. Much better than my Lyca mobile unlimited 40$/month plan

  • finally Telstra got on board

  • How do they calculate data usage Per Mb or Kb?

    • +1

      Per KB!

      • Thanx, couldn't find it on the site.

    • Yep, it's per kB, at least until you use up your allowance—at which point it's charged per GB.

  • So I got the email and thought what the hell as I'm usually spending $30 and $50 alternating months on prepaid encore. Get to submit the order and get a message "Something is wrong with the online shop" and bombs out.

    Edit

    Successfully got the M8

  • Wanna make it a $60 p/month plan with a tablet?

Get this deal in this post, then add this:
    https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/treat-yourself?RRID…
    Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 - $5 data share Sim + $10 device payment = $15 extra p/month
(they were doing the Samsung s 10.5 for this price but it seems to have finished now)

Its a 4g tablet, you get an extra 100mb, meaning you share 2.1Gb between the mobile & tablet!

I suppose you do this after you get your $45 mobile plan as there probably won't be an option to add tablet during online sign up.

  • Is the M8 a good upgrade to the Nexus 5?

    • +3

Personally I wouldn't. The n5 is already a great phone. But I would get this just for the plan and try and sell the phone. Judging by the comments it seems that many others share this intention.

  • I'm with telechoice $20/month 1GB, using a Galaxy S5 (with problems).

Should i port to this deal and sell the new Galaxy S5? Would it be worth it? I don't make that many calls, mostly texting and internet.

  • Called up telstra and they said the phone will be locked…

  • I spoke to one of the sales rep there. He did start of bu saying you have to be a T prepaid customer to take advantage of the offer. I told him i was, which i am but i want to port a more regular used number across from another provider. He said can't do it online but if i call customer service they can change the number for me. I told him the option is available on the online sign up form and copied the porting option. He came back to me saying to go ahead and use that option. He stayed with me while the order went through. Bloody F… i forgot to copy the transcipt. I never got any email transcript.

  • I'm now on the hunt for a 128Gb MicroSD card for the HTC M8. oh yeah!

  • +1

Has anyone else been able to choose the HTC in the last 10mins or so? I keep getting the Telstra "Opps" page.

    • +1

Go for the Samsung. Its a sign

  • Must resist.
My Nexus 5 on Telstra prepaid starter kits is still going strong!

  • I got a cancellation email :(

    • your kidding

      • April fools passed ages ago :/

    • Were you an existing Telstra prepaid customer?

      • Nope

        • Can you post a screenshot of the cancellation email?

        • @jg86tsv:

          Second that…

          No photo or never happened!!!!

        • @jacku:

          Received this at 3:21 PM
          Hi ,
Thanks for placing your order online with Telstra.

          Here are your order details

          Order Reference Number: SBS78867xx
          Date: 19 June 2015
          Customer Name: xx

We're pleased to confirm your order for the following products.

        • @blue_panther9_9:

Likely that your ID check or Credit check has failed.

          ID is verified by comparing your DL or Passport against gov't databases, if there is a mismatch the order will be rejected.;

        • @jg86tsv:

I hope so. I might have typed wrong id. Ok I will order again

        • +1

          @blue_panther9_9:

Have faith. No one else seems to have been cancelled yet. Hopefully just a typo :)

        • @jg86tsv:
Yet again I got the same cancellation order after 2nd attempts. I'm 100% filled it properly, in fact telstra already took $1 twice from my savings.. :/

        • @blue_panther9_9:
They've asked you to contact control group. You have a previous sold debt with Telstra. If not, or if it's been paid, call the CG and give them your reference from the company the debt was sold to. You still won't be able to get a service though unfortunately

Also, Telstra didn't take your $1 ……credit card company did. The other lots of 2 x $1 you did after you were told you weren't eligible…so…:p

        • @DoubleOver: I went to telstra store for verification. I think the issue was with my first registration, I will contact them on monday.

  • the old HP Slatebook 14" experience is coming back to haunt us

  • so this is a casual plan, does it meant that I can move out anytime, just pay for the cost of the phone? Thanks.

  • Just made a second order - between 3:22pm and 4:52pm (exactly 1h30min) there were 217 orders, they'll hardly have any issues fulfilling these.

    • are you currently telstra?

      • Nope, porting from live connected.
Though I do have a prepaid account which I just use for movie tickets.

  • I didn't get an email. I'm on Telstra prepaid encore plan. But moving to optus for their Sim only $60 plan discounted to $40 with the online offer and bundled with existing internet. This gives 8gb data and unlimited calls and SMS. Data can be shared with a data Sim for my iPad. Bought a HTC one m8 in March!

What would you do? Go with this plan or change to optus? Selling a phone is much of a muchness…

  • hmmm this or keep switching between the prepaid starter kits that have been accumulated from here? lol

  • I don't really see how this is a bargain when you're locked in for 2 years?

    • best network in australia and anyone with a phone needs a plan whether you want to switch every month or not…telstra mate, telstra…phone is for free…its a deal

    • +1

Same cost and value as peoples existing prepaid plans with a handset thrown in…. what's not to get?

      • I'm on an old grandfathered encore plan… This is a lot better and free phone, but 2 years commitment! That's a big step for me :S

  • Just got delivery tracking number.
i am not with telstra i am with boost mobile.

  • +1

M8 out of stock. Speaking to Telstra live chat now and they are saying it will come back in stock.

    • yes link won't connect for me

      • Yeah she just told me to keep an eye on the website, the offer is valid until 30 June.

  • hi guys does the 45 cover the "monthly repayments of the phone" - essentially a free phone or not? :l
sortve iffy on the "Add one of the handsets below on a monthly repayment"

  • If you are with Vodafone they seem happy to match the deal. Received the same offer with Vodafone with a few other incentives. I'm happy with Vodafone so didn't see the need to change to Telstra. But great deal either way.
