    • what I just called them and they keep insisting the phone isn't free with the deal? :C

      • I gave them the link so they could see it themselves. Ask for the retentions team, especially if you are in the last 4 months of your contract.

it is included in the plan

        • 'Telstra New Phone Feeling' Was it automatically included? Does that mean you get a new phone every year?

        • @Joe888:

It's included but you have to return the handset in good working condition after one year and pay $149 to get the new handset, also extend your contract to another year.

        • @deathjr:
Paying $149 to swap for a new Galaxy S6 or a One M9 in a year time is not bad.

    • Chatted with voda people and he said they won't match prepaid deal as this seems as prepaid deal to them

    • What are the "few other incentives"

I might call Voda or Optus and see what they can offer me a better deal over this Telstra deal

      • Waive last 4 months of contract and 1GB data extra. Vodafone plan includes international text and other stuff too. Can't remember all the details.

    • what other incentives were you able to get?

  • What SOC does their S5 use? Is it the s801 or 805?

  • does the $45/mth INCLUDE the SG5/M8 handset payment?

    • There is no monthly payment for handset.

  • Just got off phone with Telstra reps, because I couldn't access One M8 page. This offer doesn't seem to be communicated well to their call centre staff - they couldn't help me so I told them nevermind and registered for a White S5 instead since I'm going to try selling it.

Just received email tracking from Telstra. My order has been shipped out. I ported out from Aldi mobile.

  • I have a question for those of us that are EXISTING Telstra customers on POST-PAID plans.

How do we go about getting on this $45 POST-PAID plan deal, since it's offered to pre-paid customers only,

Telstra chat rep confirmed I couldn't get this as its offered to pre-paid only customer (FFS telstra you guys are hopeless)

    • Also how are you guys expecting this to work for you when using a $2 sim from another provider, registering it, then porting over to this plan?

Wont you end up with a new number? dont you want to keep your existing current number?

      • +1

I propose if you are this category of users (existing post-paid telstra customer) wanting to take this offer up to do the following.

Contact Telstra and ask them to convert you from post-paid to pre-paid, then register for this $45 Go Mobile Casual Plan deal?

I am in the process of doing this now, will report back.

EDIT: Telsta chat was about to convert my post-paid to pre-paid, but I realised you may not need to as I just went through the normal signup process for this $45 Go Mobile deal using the below link and was able to choose the "I am an existing Telstra customer, and wish to keep my number" option and entered my current post-paid telstra mobile (out of contract) and it happily accepted it!

        https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/pre-paid_offer

Got my order confirmation number, let's see if it gets posted out :) probably will get my order cancelled as I am not a pre-paid customer lol.

    • I had my shipped out straightaway, in StarTrack now, hope you all get yours too

Average sale price of S5 seems to be $400-500 vs. M8 $350-500. S5 is also a lot more popular.
= $26.25/month for the phone plan.

    • Where can tou get the M8 for $350? Its $550 on most sites. Whereas the S5 is ~$475

      • I'm looking at ebay sold prices for brand new.

        • and on eBay those are grey import OR local stock without proof of purchase (the original one) so you only have limited warranty, meanwhile this would give you 24 months, and worry-free too as you have heaps of Telstra stores/shops to drop it off for any issues

  • I'm paying $10 - $15 a month on prepaid Telstra, juggling sims etc…..I think I'll stick to this. Good plan though for people who don't want the bother of changing numbers /carrying 2 phones like me.

    • Plus you get the Google credit.

expect this deal to be 'ozbargained'!

  • Just ordered an S5. Goodbye prepaid.. for now.

  • I don't have au passport nor driver licence. so sad..

    • Do you have a full time job and employment history?

  • filled out the whoooole form then it crashed on me. Ozbargained???

Oops. We can't connect you with that page
Usually we're great at connecting, but not this time.
We'll try harder - but, in the meantime, we suggest you head back to the mobiles with plans home page.

    Both HTC and Samsung fail.

Hopefully they assign more stock soon!

    • Bugger! Shouldn't have hesitated :(

  • sweet deal op! main problem I dont is that I don't need a new phone, as I have an iphone 5 with the optus unlimited plus 8gb @$40 (as I have broadband with them too.). I still haven't worked out how mych internet I need, as this month I used too much thanks to Googlephotos. (I was on the ($20 a month with 1GB and managed to go above 1.5gb!). I will definitely keep in mind if I notice that I don't need so much data. For an extra $5 a brand new S5 is very tempting.

    • There should be a setting in your phone that disables mobile data at a level you select. This will prevent you going over your allowance and incurring further charges.

  • Would it be hard selling the handset?
Won't buyers be a bit sus?

    • if you plan to resell the handset, get S5, easier than HTC One M8

  • Tried clicking on "Choose this" and it gave me a 404 error message:

    • Both handsets are sold out. More stock is coming, apparently.

      • Any indication how long it will take?

        • It wont be coming back.. and i am pretty sure they wont be honouring any of these orders.

        • @joshuah:

What? They're locking you into a $1080 contract. They get rid of their old phones. They win?

Edit: Just in case you didn't realize. There is a new HTC M9 and Samsung S6. The M8 and S5 will devalue greatly the longer they hold onto their stock. The offer may not come back, because they've exhausted their old stock - exactly what they want to do.

        • @rompastompa:
But do you honestly think they have several thousand of these spare? And as already indicated they have "run out of stock"… where do you expect them to pull "old stock" (as suggested from you) from?

        • @joshuah: The phone isn't discontinued. I'm pretty sure Telstra will continue stocking and selling them as will other retailers.

Whether they will be part of this deal is another matter.

        • +1

@joshuah: I don't work for Telstra or have any knowledge on how they do business.

There are 371 Telstra stores in Australia.

You would assume each store would have several on hand at any given time. When they received new stock of the M9/S6, old stock would be sent back to the warehouse.

It would not be unreasonable to assume they have several thousand of both phones spare - and where did you get several thousand from? Only 257 gave this deal a positive vote - and many of which may just think this is a good bargain, not actually purchase.

        • @joshuah: Ive already gotten tracking number so unless they are sending me a cancellation notice with startrack then i assume it's the galaxy s5 i ordered.

        • @holden93:
How long ago did you order it?

        • @joshuah: i ordered it at 3:22 pm

        • @holden93:
I stand corrected then. I do still believe that the offer wont be coming back though…. and yes, I am jealous of you!

        • @holden93:
Did you get an email offering this deal like some have gotten?
          I didn't so I hope it wasn't a targeted offer.

        • @MickeyG: I not only didn't get this email i am on boost mobile and am porting over.

        • @holden93: Awesome.. I'm looking forward to the 'Congratulations, your order is on the way' email. :)

        • @MickeyG:
Check out the newer posts below.. an order just got "stopped" (cancelled?)

        • @joshuah: Yeah.. I'm not looking forward to that. :(

        • @joshuah:http://i.imgur.com/8k1EiTi.png

Thats the email with tracking saying it's on the way.

        • @rompastompa:
How so (your 'they win' comment.) No one is forced to take it up!

        • @DoubleOver: I was replying to the response to them not honouring any of the orders. Obviously Telstra would not be offering it all if they didn't get monetary gain from it. A small win is still a win.

  • Yeah, its done :(

  • She done ! I love ozbargain. The mrs is happy, getting a new phone with same monthly spend as her current prepaid :)

  • :(

  • oops too late!

  • I got mine!!! Best deal seen on here since $14 DH coupons. Really good deal with virtually free phone and unlimited calls and messages. BTW called Telstra and the rep unconvincingly said the phone is not locked.

    • Rescinded

  • how's it expired now?

  • I woudnt be marking this as expired… Just yet.

Stock may become available and will work again, plus those of you who ordered and get canceled means stock becomes re-available.

  • Update. Telstra rep just called me back and she said that even though it's not a prepaid plan it's supplied by that department and it is locked but you can call the prepaid department and they will unlock it as soon as you receive it.

Your Telstra mobile order has been stopped. Please call us on 1800 096 566 for more information.

    What do I do now?

    • kind of was expecting that…

    • When did you order?
Were you an existing Telstra prepaid customer?

Please call them and let us know why it was stopped.

    • +5

Call them on 1800 096 566 for more information?

      • I call at about 715 and they said they were closed

        • In my order confirmation email, it said:
If you have any queries about your order, you can contact our online support team 24 hours, 7 days on 1300 131 113.

          Maybe try that number.

        • On hold right now. 25 mins and counting.

        • @nuggetbro: ouch, it will be interested what they say though… can you ask them if it is true that they will be bringing stock back in ?

        • @joshuah:
I am not sure if I am patient enough. It's at 32 mins. Great network, abysmal service.

        • @nuggetbro: i wonder how many others are calling at the same time lol

        • @joshuah: anyone else on hold or had any luck? Really wanted this deal and its a shame because it really was a win win for them.

        • @nuggetbro: I was on the phone for over an hour trying to figure out if I could redeem it. I finally spoke to a rep that said the offer got sent out to random prepaid customers - unless you had received the email or text message, you aren't eligible to claim the offer. Not sure how they're tracking it though.

    • Did you receive that after a shipping notification?

      • Nope. No shipping stuff. Also I wasn't on Telstra prepaid.

    • Sorry guys. Wanted to get more info and chat but it has now been 43 mins and still on hold. its crazy to think the still next closest plan is more then double with no phone!

      • you hung up?

    • Call the number? That's the control group. Previous Telstra debt prevents you from applying for a Telstra service.

  • +1

Pretty sure a lot of orders will not be honoured. This was a targeted offer to select prepaid customers.

  • +1

So how many people have had their orders cancelled?
I got the order confirmation email, followed by a email billing email. According to telstra it may take up to 24hrs for orders to be updated in their system if porting from another number…… Kinda preying this goes through. Was a good deal!

    • You on Telstra prepaid?

    • I have nothing either way. Ordered at 5.30pm and got the confirmation, but nothing else.

  • -4

I would go as far to say we have ground to demand they honour this deal since they accepted the order and provided a confirmation.

If you get denied the plan or advised they dont have stock then demand and ask for a manager, continue arguing until you get what you signed up for.

If its a stock issue request they give another phone of equal or greater value then (e.g s6)

And tell them you will go public with it and post online of your dissatisfaction and poor service.

    Ozbargainers unite!

    • It's a targeted offer and was never intended to be shared to the public.

      • I love the gorilla approach. Viva le resistance.

Telstra should honor it because it is a good deal that will bring customers to their network.

They should honor because a large portion of people will go well over their 2 gb and end up paying more then some of the more premium plans.

They won't because its Telstra and they don't need to compete because they have monoply over the network whcih tax payers paid for and continue to pay for ( through all the government contracts they have a monoply over).

      • I agree with you somewhat but at the same time I don't. Why not give a unique promo code that can only be used once as opposed to a very generic URL

        • I agree it's poor execution by Telstra.

    • +10

      You're one of THOSE customers.

Those who've worked in retail know what I'm talking about.

      • What I am is a jaded government employee who has extensive first hand experience in how to blow tax payers money. Matter of fact I am guessing that tax payer money is one of our greatest exports.

Anyway I will stop ranting and depressing everyone.

        • I think I have paid over $500 in excess data usage over the last 12-18 months…
