    Thanks OP

    Just 1GB? :(

    • -1

For $5, what do you expect? :P

      • +4

Just yesterday i bought a $30 Optus sim for $5 (need to spend $30 at woolies) - apparently it's worth 3GB of Data

        Page 24

        • +2

If Vodafone is OK in your area this would be better as you get unlimited data weekends. Plus its $450 call credit. The optus one is data only I assume.

        • +1

That's the Data Only SIM, Vodafone has the same $29/30 for 3GB as well if you wanted just data, what's shown here in this deal is the normal SIMs that come with talk+text+data, so ~1GB is about right

  • Can you confirm if that deal includes 3GB - i remember looking it a few days ago and it didnt have any data included?

  • +8

    Can confirm nationwide

    • Thanks, will go by my local ones to check for stock soon

    • Thanks

  • Argh! I am 5K's from West Lakes mall but can't be bothered to go out not. Thanks

  • does the 3G data only sim have unlimited data weekends as well?

    • +1

Pretty sure only prepaid mobile, $30 and over

  • These have no expirery, so stockpile!

  • +1

    Thanks OP,
Time to go Ashfield Kmart and clear out their stock

  • +2

    Great find. Thanks OP!

Full size sim or multi ?

    • +2

      Multi

  • called my local kmart, lady said its not on special

    • +3

Did she actually check and scan stock? Because some lazy bugger's just say "nah $30 still m8"

      • she asked other person as well and say its not on special, dont think she scan to check the price.
i will drop by to check after work, thx

        • +1

Yes it would be all stores, mark sure they scan it and mark sure the barcode on the back matches the one on the picture

        • +3

@bargainbot12: Voda only have one $30 starter pack. If your Kmart has them in stock they should scan at $5. Mine had 10 with a slightly different barcode and sales attendant tried to argue but they scanned at OP's bargain price. Left 5 of them for another OzBargainer.

      • +2

Yep, some of the employees don't actually scan them when you call them, even in store some will insist that $30 is $30 if there's no sale tag in the cabinet regardless of whatever else is on sale, even if there's $10/15/20 for the same branded $30 sims packs right above it lol

A while ago, I had to spend 5mins talking some sense with an employee and that if the nano sims are $15 right above it, it might be $15 for the multifit ones too, and fiiiiinally she decided to open the cabinet and scanned one for me, some people are just either really lazy or just really arrogant.

  • +1

Kmart here I come. What would I do without you, Food. Thanks.

    • +2

You'd probably die without Food. But there's always Delivery Hero?

  • How much to buy an extra gig data? Thx op :)

  • Anyone know if Vodafone will switch this packs into nano sims? I just bought 6 without realizing they were fullsize/micro sim o.O

    • +2

You'll have to call or go in to a store to ask, varies store by store I believe, but seeing as these don't have expiry, they should swap it no problem I guess.

I know that some telstra stores let me swap the telstra packs with no questions asked, sometimes the pack itself (big bonus if the pack is nearing expiry), sometimes they require that I activate the sim first.

Optus on the other hand are really stingy, most of them refuse swapping sim sizes/packs or ask you pay a fee. One time a friend of mine had a defective sim card (no reception in any phone) and went to various stores to get a new one and was told to pay a $5-10 fee, that's just ridiculous considering a new starter sim with nothing only costs $2 off the shelves.

      • had a defective sim card

That's terrible customer service. Even VF in their fail days gladly replaced my defective SIM without charge after a quick check. Aren't telcos required to replace defective SIMs? How can Optus get away with it?

        • +1

Yep, terrible service across multiple stores from optus, needless to say, my friend just went to another provider after that.

I have no clue if there's a requirement for them to replace defective SIMs, but apparently even after calling up their customer service he was told it's "store policy" or some crap, was shocking to me too.

    • If you have a fine tip marker pen and sharp scissors you can cut it down to size yourself just dont cut the chip. Lol just noticed 2 of my packs have nano sims but im lucky i have adapters to up size.

    • Thank for the heads up.

      Did you pick up yourself?

      Im planning to go tonight.cheers

Just grabbed the last 4 multi fit sim

They still have heaps of the nano sim.

  • Food - where did you take this photo? I know you are in SA :D

    • West Lakes! Went to laugh at the crow fans

      • Got the last one at 8.30pm last night! Thanks Food

        • Hmm they went quick! Np

  • Anyone knows where to get discounted recharge? Thanks.

  • What's the expiry?

    • +1

Earlier commenter mentioned these don't have an expiry date

      • no expiry one of mine was old said manufactured in 12/2012 still worked

    • +1

      Deal: None I'm aware of
      Starter Kits: none

  • thanks op for posting :) picked 1 up from werribee vic.Was no special sticker and staff are not aware so ask them to scan.

  • +2

Went to Chatswood Kmart. Someone bought the lot of 15 so I came home with empty hands.

    • +1

      That grinds my gears :(

    • +1

shocking! greedy people these days probably going to try and make money off them..

  • +1

Yeap. Nationwide. Kmart mt gravett staff was reluctant to sell me more than one due to unwritten rules. But persistent oz bargainer wins in the end.

  • Would this have the unlimited weekend data with it?

    • Yuuup!

  • +1

Nothing left at Chadstone or Fountain Gate

  • +1

remind me to get some of these on Saturday morning.

    • +3

      Here's your reminder.

      • Thanks.. The would only allow one/customer at Garden City.. Lucky I had a friend with me so could get two.

  • None at Tuggers, ACT, but I sort of expected that

  • Went to castle Hill kmart this morning, about 5 left, me and a fellow Ozbargainer bought 4, all microsim though.

    • So there's nothing left?

About to go in two hours…

  • Calls Kmart store to check if they have any in stock
    no
decide to go into the store anyway because bordem
find a bunch of $30 vodafone sim cards
ask the friendly employee to check the price
    gets told its $30
"nah m8 it said $5 online, nation wide"
    employee scans le sim
    $30
    mfw

    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • I went to Castle Hill K-Mart and one of the staff went and check and told me that there's one left and instantly another staff came over and said its been sold out. The first staff pointed to the corner and said then what's that one, they then check and found that the item numbers are different from the one on sale.

Then I asked the first staff to scan it anyway, and… wow, yes it is $5, and actually there's 4 of them there in the box. I took 3 and have 1 left for another lucky guy.

      :)

  • Bought 4 when I noticed and unopen box of them at Blacktown leaving a grand total of 1 $30 Sim left

  • For those buying multiple, are you just using it for data or can you use them for recharge without porting in/out?

    • Bought mine for cheap calls to Philippines gets about 130 minutes for $5

    • I don't think you can recharge with these ones so im just going to port in and out every month. Worth the time and effort for $5 a month!

  • Went into 1 kmart in Brisbane and the sales guy would only sell me 1 he said he got a memo from head office saying 1 per customer. So i drove to another kmart and bought 3 there lol. Also it varies between sales people and stores some demand you fill in details on a form some dont bother.

    • They shouldn't make you fill in a form.

  • +1

I mainly cop it in coles sometimes woolies once i bought 5 vodafone stick modems in coles when they were $10 each and she made me fill in 5 god dam forms i said your off your rocker lady. I said to her whats the point in this because you have to provide id when you activate it online anyway.

    • I was told if you pay by card you don't need to fill in the form

      • You don't need to fill in the form by any payment

        • +1

The only provider you need an AMTA form for now is Optus.

        • @Millikano:

Never been asked to fill out any form when I recently bought all 3 of my Optus Nokia Lumia 530 mobile phones. Given they were from Kmart and Dick Smith. Maybe this is a Coles thing.

  • +2

I have had no issues buying them from 2 stores in WA. Price wasn't on display in one store but deal scanned up! Thanks Food!

    • which stores were these?

      • +1

Kardinya and Booragoon. There are none left at Kardinya but Booragoon could have more out the back (unlikely but worth giving them a call to see) i had enough so didn't ask if there were more. Good luck!

  • Can you use the $30 credit to purchase more data? or do you need to top up with real money?

    • Mine gave me no options to change from the 450 of calls and 1 gig data unlike the telstra and optus ones where you have a choice of prepaid plans.

      • Yeah, no options, except the option to port your number..

  • -2

Thought I bought 12 today, but was given an extra free of charge.

Thanks OP, hope VF continues the unlimited data after August.

    • +1

      cough, cough… I doubt….

    • Did you buy at Garden City?
I asked the worker and he said someone bought about 12.

      • No, they were bought in North QLD

      • Broden was at that store.

  • Ozbargained at Garden City, Perth.

  • I got the last one at southland today.

Rang ahead and the guy said there was more than enough so no need to put any away for me, but when I got in it became apparent that he couldn't tell the diff between the $2 sim and the $30 starter kit. After riffling through the $2 sims we did find one $30 starter, so I bought that.

they did have a number of the 10c optus sims (marked down from $2)

  • None left at Burwood One in Vic, though the Vodafone store in the centre was giving away free $2 sim cards out the front of the shop.

  • None at ttp sa!

  • for everyone's benefit i called vodafone and had mine changed to the 365-day plan after activating, even though that was not an option on sign-up.

got a spare SIM with a pretty good number for a backup now :D

  • Got one at Rockhampton in Central QLD. There were only a few left. It's good because I was going to need to recharge the $30 plan on Lycamobile in about a week but it only gives 500mb internet data but the $30 plan on Vodafone offers 1GB. Saved me $25 this month and double the internet data.

  • did any of you guys have issues with getting the sim card to fit your phone? it was way to big for my note 3 so i cut it down to size still didnt work..:(

    • +1

Galaxy Note 3 uses a micro sim. These Vodafone SIM starter packs suit a standard or a micro sim phone. All you had to do was poke the micro sim card out from the double punch standard card and insert it into your note 3. No cutting at all needed.

This picture should give you an idea.

      http://i00.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/385/215/950/950215385_251.jpg

But you may have damaged the electronic bit on the card.

  • thanks for the input, the sim card i was given had no outer shell to double punch the card through :( i belive the sim i was sold was very old hence the reason the selling them so cheap.

    • +1

You must have got a really old kit. Bad luck there. The one I got was definitely a standard/micro double punch kit.

You needed to get one which says Full size and micro sim included on the bottom left side of the kit packaging. The ones which are shown in the thread picture.

  • No one knows anything about this at Kmart Casula NSW?????

    • If they have stock the card will scan at $5, they probably don't have it advertised

  • Thanks mate, I'll give it a go!

  • $5 is a bargain. Can't believe Woolworths is asking $15 for this on their sale aka https://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/Shop/SpecialsGroups/cat…

  • Go and try your local store again, my local has restocked with a stack full
TTP SA for you lazy bugger's ;)

    • Yeah it's still $5. Saw a few at my local Kmart today.

Got to laugh though at Woolies wanting $15 for it when you can go straight to Kmart and buy for $5.

      • Yeah exactly. Get real woolies.
I've only got two packs from Kmart; I stocked up in Tassie at woolies (spend $30 on edr get pack for $5) BUT Tassie don't have edr! So it was $5 outright with no spend! Haha!

  • Am I reading the T&C's correct?, Is it 90c a minute to make a call?, how is this a good deal?,
not sure I follow, do people buy this for weekend calls only?.
