10% off Travel Insurance Direct

300
TripwiseM

Was looking to purchase travel insurance for my upcoming Japan trip and realised I missed the last 10% off TID deal (ended in April). However upon getting a quote I noticed an ad within TID that says if I download their app (Tripwise) and purchase through the app I can get 10% off.

The coupon code automatically showed up when I went through the app and found that it works online for those who doesn't want to purchase through the app. On a side note, the app is actually pretty good as it keeps your policy details handy when you travel.

Not sure when this ends.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the 15% off Medibank / STA insurance?

Insurance costs varies considerably between risk assessments. A trip for you might be cheaper at insurer A and a similar trip for me might be cheaper at insurer B.

Get a quote for both, read the PDS and compare for your situation.

      • or Rather, get the PDS first, compare for your situation, and get a quote and compare price last :)

  • I'm heading to Perisher for 9 days in August, can anyone recommend a company?

    • Yes, TID. Good enough domestic snow cover options for a very reasonable price.

    • Is travel insurance really necessary for local trips? You're already covered for medical expenses with Medicare.

      • Are 'extreme' sports covered?

Also the insurances cover for stolen/lost etc. goods.

        • No idea that's why I'm asking.

True about the lost or stolen goods. Personally I think there's less risk of this in Australia than when travelling overseas.

  • Check you credit card first. I found mine automatically includes much the same cover as Covermore for free, as long as you pay a % on the card. YMMV - some cards have it, some don't.

    • also assuming you intend to keep your credit card past your travel date.

  • Too bad that I just bought mines a wk ago…

you can cancel as part of cooling off period then buy again.

just checked the PDS, TID will not cover for any claims in regards to MERS, SARS or epidemic or pandemic. That is not good enough in this 21st century traveling world.

    • Will any travel insurance companies cover those things?

      • check covermore

        • so far from the PDS - NO COVER: covermore, TID, Bupa. Still waiting for others to reply my questions to them .

    • Most will not cover you for terrorism-related events (including cancellations) either. Nor will they usually cover you for any change of plans if an elderly relative becomes unwell due to any pre-existing illness, even if a similar illness of a less elderly person is covered.

Ive used this company over 3 international trips, have claimed for 2 (food poisoning and lost luggage), paid out with no hassles both time. I would always use them.
I was under the impression it was always 10% off, as you just search google and TID will provide one themselves?
