Telstra $40 Go Share Plan, Unl Calls/Sms, 1.1GB Data, Includes HTC One M8/Xperia Z3 Compact

210

Telstra is offering the $40 Data Share plan that includes the HTC One M8, Galaxy S5 or the iPhone 5C (if any stores have stock left) or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact for 24 months. New plans and port-ins also get $100 welcome credit. The $40 plan normally comes with 100mb since it taps into your base plan's data quotas, but a bonus 1gb will be provided for as long as you have the service for.

You can also pick up a Galaxy Tab A 4G for an extra $15 which taps into your other mobile's data pool.

$200 welcome credit is also applicable to new plans and port in's taking up the $95, $135, $195 handset plans or $70 BYO plan.

Note: You need an existing service as this plan is an attachment to a primary service (eg, $70 Go Mobile or $70 Accelerate Share plan)

This should turn out much better than the previous deal. :)

    • +1

Not really, you need to have an existing plan with them.

      • Yes, now that it's 100% clear, nobody will be trying to sign up, failing, and getting frustrated.

    • 900 MB less data.

  • +4

blah :( bring back the old plan! p.s. this is not a deal, its a normal price plan..

  • for new customer or existing ones?

    • Both, but new customers get $100 credit on their bill

      • when it finishes? telstra web says before 29 June

    • for all, they offer it to everyone who walks into the telstra store.. so not sure if this is a "bargain" or not.

  • +6

I'm confused with title n its description , so basically I need to sign up for $70 go mobile plan then add $40 go share plan? $110/mnth plan???

    • bargain right? :)

What if you are a prepaid customer?

You have to call 1800 676 642 to get offer, no click through!

Why can't you get this on the $45 Go Casual Plan? It was an option on the sign up form.

  • Assuming staff plan not eligible?

  • So I guess no luck to add this if I am on the $10 friends and family plan?

  • Are customers on business plans eligible in the same way?

    • Yes

  • Do we know if you can you attached this to $39 staff plan?

    • Nah, plan had to be a share plan

  • +1

I ported from my $39 Telstra family and friends Staff Plan to the $45 Go plan from last week.
And I just ported my wife from TPG onto this $40 plan.
    It all went very smoothly.
Now we have 3.1gb of data to share between us.
    Got the $100 welcome credit.
    And two new phones.

    • how did you do that (porting your wife's account), through talking with them or online. I'm also interested in doing this if it comes with data…

        • did that last night and they informed me that the share $40 plan only gives you the unlimited talk and text but no additional data….

        • @sc00bie: Well I was told I'd get 1gb bonus.

        • @talismansa: Ok, might give it another go tonight then…..

        • @sc00bie: If they deny it, just keep pressing them on it. When I was on the phone with them, they told me only the iphone 5c is available to this offer. Then I told them to check again, and they checked and confirmed I was correct.

        • @talismansa: tried again, the operator reiterated no additional data….you must be lucky….additional data is $10 more…..

        • @sc00bie: O.P. or Mod needs to alter the deal to reflect that the 1GB bonus data is not guaranteed.

        • @sc00bie: Hmm very interesting. I wonder how I can check my data allowance.

        • @sc00bie: has anyone else got the 1GB data?

        • @sc00bie: Telstra just called me to inform me that I was given incorrect information about the 1gb of data. So they gave me the option of cancelling the order or take the order without the 1gb bonus.

          DISAPPOINTED!

        • @talismansa: i called them as well. They told me that the $45/m plan is not eligible because it is go mobile casual plan. only go mobile plans are eligible.

        • @jjjjjj: What?! If they call me back telling me that they're cancelling the plan I'm gonna be very pissed!

        • @talismansa: Are you on the $45 go casual plan? They gave you this $40 share plan?

        • @jjjjjj: yes I'm on the $45 go casual plan. I am at the Telstra shop right now cancelling the order I made over the phone yesterday, and redoing the order in person. All because they can't get their act together at the warehouse to send out the phone.

And now they're telling me their systems are down for porting phone numbers so I just wasted a trip to the shop. Have to come back again in 2 hours.

        • @jjjjjj: I just signed the papers and walked out with the phone. So I guess there's no doubt you can pair it with the $45 go casual plan.

        • Same story, I was on live chat for 3 hours this morning and then again for an hour this avo. Activated the $45 plan last night, still can't make phone calls.

        • @talismansa: what about the extra data…100mb or 1gb?

        • @talismansa: I was told that I am not eligible straight away. you guys must be good at negotiations.

        • @sc00bie: I just got it via online chat. yes 1GB bonus is included.

        • @jjjjjj: I guess like all large business things takes a while to filter through….I went to the original $45/month link & successfully register a port for my wife there…..got a confirmation email…. $5 more but i get 2gb so I'm not complaining…..

        • @jjjjjj: You should confirm that after you get the phone. I was told I'd get the 1gb too, but then they said I wouldn't after I asked about it the next day.

        • @talismansa: show them your chat record (I hope you saved a copy.). It is a form of contract. They can't contract you first then changed their mind.

        • @jjjjjj: I called them so I have no record of it. So I guess I got (profanity).

Update me when you have the contract they send out to you. Hopefully I can use it to get the extra gb.

        • @talismansa: No I still have not receive any paper work. Chat with them again. They said it's on its way. Just wait.

        • @jjjjjj: strangely enough I got an automated text an hour ago informing me that my shared data plan is now 3.1gb.

And looking at my Telstra 24x7 app, my wife's data allowance has now been increased to 1gb.

So I guess that guy that called me up has no idea what he's talking about.

        • @talismansa: as per usual…I will be very glade once everyone be settled down.

    • so $85/m you get 2 new phones+unlimited calls and text+3.1GB of data /m+ $100 credit.

      • If you can get on the $45 go casual plan, then yes, but I think that offer is expired
        https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/pre-paid_offer?RMID…

      • i did the same sign up the $45 plan online last monday and $40 in store yesterday without problem.
no problem with the data 3.1g neither

        • What phone did you get?
The online store says they're out of M8's but Sony Xperia are still in stock.

I might have to try a Telstra shop.

        • @MickeyG:
i sign up the $40 in store
u can call them the check the stock level
both are htc m8 one grey and one sliver

        • @edw0000000: Thanks. I just rang the store closest to me and they're also out of M8's but they said they should get some stock in the next day or so.

it baffles me why people still use telstra making the whole 'they have the best service' claim,
most other providers work just as well and are like half the price with better phone deals

    • +1

Can you recommend one? Seriously. Telstra is screwing me around with my order and I will cancel my order if you can find a similar or better deal.

      • even just look at vodafone or optus,
I've been with vodafone for a while and I never understood why people said their services are bad,
never had a problem, data speeds fast,

even other than the major providers there are soo many others

oh and if you're not looking for a new phone and just a plan check out amaysim

Two different uses of the word service.

Service being the coverage = best.
Service being the support = meh.

  • It would be good if a land-line was counted as an existing service :/

  • Looks like this offer (not sure about the bonus 1GB though) has been extended to the 3rd of August. They've even added Sony handsets into the mix.

  • Merged from Telstra Shared SIM - $40 p.m - 24 Months - 1GB Data - HTC One M8/Xperia Z3 Compact

This appears to be a good deal to go along with the $45 Go Mobile Casual Plan posted recently. You can add an additional service to your account by paying $40 per month. There are no repayments for the mobile. You get the following on the shared SIM.

    • Unlimited calls/texts to standard Australian numbers
    • 1 GB Bonus data (applicable for the duration of contract i.e. 24 months)
    • Choice between HTC One M8 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
    • 1 time $100 Welcome credit

If you took advantage of the $45 Go Mobile plan, by adding this additional service, you would be paying $85 ($45+$40) per month for unlimited calls, "free" mobiles and 3GB data (shared). Additional data is $10 per GB. So this would be a good deal for people who use approx. 2GB per month.

    • Can you do this but keep your current phone number? so separate numbers fro the main and shared plan?

    • Online store says HTC One M8 is out of stock. Only Z3 Compact available.

This deal has already been posted (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/199910) except no Galaxy S5 or iPhone 5c anymore.

      • crap, how did i miss this? i even was one of the targeted people to get the email!!!!!

    • Does it mean i can sign up my wife to a new telstra service (number to be ported) under shared sim?

    • I don't think you can attach the Companion plan to a Casual Plan.

      • Yes you can.

FAMILY SHARING IN THREE EASY STEPS

        1. Choose your Go Mobile Plan, BYO or Casual Plan

The online store had no issues with me being on the $45 casual plan except i cancelled because i wanted the M8.

    • so which one HTC M8, Xperia z3, or S5?

      • Only HTC One M8 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact but the HTC is currently out of stock.

  • Just got my missus put onto this deal on the back of my $45 Go Mobile casual plan with free Galaxy S5.
Data shows 3.1GB shared between both services.

HTC One M8 is on backorder though. :(

    • Well, after 2 weeks of waiting and countless calls and chat sessions with Telstra CSC's, the phone is finally on the way.
As there were no M8's in stock, I upgraded to the M9 and am happy with the outcome.
I've lost count of how many times I've had to explain this promotion to the consultants and even show them how to find it on Telstra's website.

      • How much for the upgrade can I ask? I'm trying to sell my M8 which is still sealed in box but if I could take it back for an upgrade, I'd consider it.

  • Just went instore and tried to get the s5 and they said it would be an extra $6p/m. The only free handsets are the HTC and Sony
