$50 eBay Voucher to Use in July with $200 Purchase Sitewide Today (Domestic Purchase Only?)

2720

Similar deal to previous but seems sitewide (ebay Australia) today

Note: According to eBay chat representatives, items bought from overseas seller may not qualify for the voucher offer.

Added 16:55
Seems like even the chat reps can't make up their minds regarding if the purchase has to be from a domestic source only. Some are saying that as long as it's on ebay.au, it should still qualify, and some reps are saying the purchase item/s needs to be from Australia .

      • Taking advantage of all 3 of these current ebay promos youd be spending in the vicinity of $500+ across minimum of 3 items, which all amount to 20% off. And you are locked in to spending $100 of your 'savings' with ebay within 4 weeks? So thats a minimum of 5 items assuming you cant stack the 2 $50 vouchers…. Youd have to be pretty savvy to make this work for you i reckon. I for one wont be buying anything.. But i wish you good luck finding 5+ bargains to pounce on in the next 6 weeks without any coming with buyers remorse!

        • -1

Wouldn't be hard if you are smart about it. E.g. buying precious metals such as gold :)

        • @moo: post that as a separate bargain?

  • +6

Still no selling promotions for the sellers they rip off with their exorbitant fees…

    • +3

Ebay dont want small sellers there any more, they are pushing to become an online shopping mall with big local brand names sellers mixed with cheap chinese gadget volume sellers. Both these groups dont pay anywhere near the 13% in fees

  • can I buy two $100 items instead?

    • I am still unsure about this at the moment. It seems like most people skipped condition:

"1. By using or attempting to use the redemption code for the voucher, you agree to accept and be bound by these terms and conditions. "

Basically means all the rules outlined here are for when Redeeming the voucher, Qualifying for the voucher is a different story entirely and doesn't seem to be explained very well. All it states is "STEP 2: SHOP NOW - spend $200+ in one transaction" unsure if adding to card and processing as payall counts as one transaction or multiple.

  • I've got a counteroffer sitting in my watch list for $220, does this qualify if I accept the offer?

    • I finally found the chat link, seems I'm g2g with this scenario.

Looks like a regional manager at eBay is really pushing to meet some target for this financial year hey!

    • +2

I'd say it probably trying to make the books look healthy in preparation for something big. With the recent announcement of the Paypal and Ebay split, I'd say something is happening behind the scenes.

  • does this include auctions?

    • To be eligible to receive the $50 eBay voucher, you must make a purchase of $200 or more and complete payment on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period (“Qualifying Purchase”).

One would assume yes, if the auction ends and the payment is finalised within the qualifying period.

  • +4

here is a part of my chat, hopefully it helps some people… though who really knows how binding it all is?

(AGENT): It is not mandatory that the payment should be cleared today. If you initiate the payment today, then you are eligible for the voucher. If you still face any issues, please take x-xxxxxxxxxxx as a reference number and contact us back. And we would be happy to provide you the refund.
    (MEMBER): thank you!
(MEMBER): and another question: can i combine won auctions and buy it now items into a single transaction?
(AGENT): No, it is not possible. The transactions should be separate.
(MEMBER): i can't pay them together like putting buy it now items into a single cart?
(MEMBER): anyway, here is #9 in the t and cs
(MEMBER): Multiple items may be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction).
(AGENT): Please let me check this for you.
    (MEMBER): thanks again :)
(AGENT): Thank you for your patience.
(AGENT): If you win the item, then that item will added to your chopping cart automatically. Then you can add buy it now items in that same cart.
    (AGENT): *shopping
(MEMBER): ok, so as long as there is $200 in my cart and payment is initiated today i will be eligible for the voucher next month?
(MEMBER): just want to be perfectly clear.
    (AGENT): Yes.

according to another comment though the auction has to be won today.

    • perferct, just what i was looking for!

  • A purchase of $200 or more, does it include shipping charge from the seller?

    • The email I received says:

STEP 2: SHOP NOW - Spend $200+ in one transaction (not including postage).

    • Shipping excluded.

    • Thanks for clarification.
BTW, there's also a requirement of up to 10 items for one transaction, even if all items are from the same seller.

  • +2

just got off chat and was told item location needs to be in australia.
I asked where does it say that in the terms and conditions?
got told, it isnt in the terms and conditions but it is ebay policy….

well there goes my purchase, will wait.

    • Where's the chat button? I've got a purchase totalling $200.04, including domestic postage of $8.99, wonder if it qualifies for the promotion.

      • +1

i wouldnt risk it, chuck in a random $10- item, pretty sure it says excluding postage

    • I just got told this too ..

      • +1

OP might want to change the title of the listing to suit. technically it isnt 'Site Wide'

    • +7

Foreign lovechat don't know what they are talking about. No eBay promo required the item to be in OZ ever. You just need to buy from eBay.com.au and it will work.

    • Very strange though because there is nothing about buying from Australian retailers in the terms and conditions but if this is true, then very disappointing

  • so its supposed to be located in AU ? how am i ment to konw what offer im getting lol

  • -4

so if you have 2 ebay accounts then you could sell something from one account to another.

ebay fees would be $20 ish.

so you would still make $30 'profit"

        • Since I'm generous, sure.

This is not site wide, I've just wasted a $200 purchase based on the header.

  • Was going to buy some sports cards from the states, will this qualify if I make the checkout via the AU ebay with my AU paypal? A user above has suggested all items purchased need to be located within Australia?

    • Won't work.

All items purchased need to be located within Australia. Ask eBay rep if in doubt.

      • Hrmmmm plot thickens:

well i got off chat again… another rep has informed me if it is listed on ebay.com.au the voucher is valid… (except the noted exceptions in the T&C) so it will probably work buying from overseas…. the plot thickens

  • Thanks for the update that the items need to be Australia based.

  • Anyone know how to get Through to live chat help? I don't know when email will respond and won't have a paper trail if they give me the wrong information if i call them. I really need to clear up this single $200 transaction thing to see what qualifies for the voucher.

  • too bad voucher expires in july. Would have been more inclined to spend had the voucher has a longer expiry date

    • If you have $50 voucher would be easy to find something. Even early Christmas shopping. :)

  • +4

They should send us an automatic message, "Congratulations! You have just qualified for $50 voucher!" or something like that. Then we will know instantly if the transaction was successful or not.

    • yeah i agree…

    • They should display the status next to "apply coupon" during checkout. Then the confusion and apprehension from all the comments above would disappear and you could see before paying for cart items

  • so if I spent $200 today on one of the listed stores for the hump deal I would get 2x $50 vouchers?

    • Unlikely. Usually it states not to be used with any other offer or voucher. Only way to be 100% sure is to confirm with eBay rep and save the convo for disputes. :)

    • I was told via Live Chat to ask for the Promotions Team on 1800322928.

Let me know how you go?

    • It seems like none of the reps on chat know anything about anything. Been talking to this guy for like 10 mins trying to explain and guarantee what hes telling me is right, the dude clearly has no clue and i can see that.

    • I was on chat with a rep and she also said as long as it shows up on Ebay.com.au as long as its not the noted exceptions

  • Is there anything stopping my wife from finally signing up for her own account and also taking advantage of this?

    • Should be okay. She has to have her own eBay and PayPal accounts.

    • Tax season is coming, save some money for the tax tigers :-D

      • Only buying things I already had planned to, this just gets me to pull the trigger a bit earlier than I would have otherwise, also my wife is now doing some of the purchasing as well.

  • -1

To anyone having problems or have any questions regarding this promotion.
I was told via Live Chat to ask for the Promotions Team on 1800322928.

It would be awesome if someone could confirm if "hump month sale" and "hump month sitewide" work as two separate promotions meaning you get $50 voucher from spending $200 from one of the selected stores and then another $50 from spending $200 sitewide.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/199955#comment-2851930

It would also be good if you could get some sort of case number to hold eBay accountable.

    Thank You!!!

Also some other oz-bargainers have questions, if they could ring or someone could ask for them too and respond to their respective comments.

    • +1

they are the same promotion. it's just that for today only, it's sitewide

    • +1

why don't you do it? s

  • What are people buying?

I got floor mats for my car, a few random car accessories & I still need to spend another $99.

    • Easy if you're buying electronics..

  • I think it's very unlikely that the offer would be limited to Australian-based products. Why would eBay care where the item was located? What they would care about in terms of this offer is that it was purchased on ebay.com.au, just like it says in the terms:

"you must make a purchase of $200 or more and complete payment on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period (“Qualifying Purchase”)"

    • so if i sign in, type the item number into ebay search, click search, add item to cart, check out. that is all i need to do to qualify?
      hope so…. fingers crossed.

  • +1

That domestic disclaimer is a myth!

  • It says the car categorie isn't included. Is car accessories different? Thanks

    • yep.

      • Thanks, I checked with live help too. Didn't want to spend $200 on stuff I don't need for nothing!

  • +2

    From ebay chat:

"You can only purchase items from ebay.com.au site only, even if the item location is international."

    My reply:

"so if the item is show on ebay.com.au but is located outside of australia, this will qualify?"

    Ebay: "Yes."

  • Too many different stories from the eBay reps, don't know who to trust.

    • +1

Trust the one you like, just make screenshots.

  • What happens if I got the voucher and spent it but still haven't received my initial purchase?

  • +1

I just called them up to confirm. It seems like you can keep adding things to the cart from multiple sellers until it totals $200 or more and then pay and you will still receive the voucher.

I really hope they know what they are doing as people have said no one got any reply about if they qualified or not.

Anyone else wants to give them a call / chat too and see if they contradict each other?

edit: just realised this was answered in the first page too. So yes it seems calling and live chat are saying the same thing. Shopping time!

    • +2

What I learnt from a chat was the transaction could include items from different sellers, but the maximum amount of items can only be 10.

  • +2

Give me discounts not crappy store credit.

  • +5

I must say, the effort to find answers in our ozbargain community is fantastic. EBay will start hiring analyst to study our shopping habits.

    • We are sleuths

  • Been eyeing the Logitech M570 mouse but bastards have increased the prices on eBay. It was ~$55ish cheapest including delivery prior to all these eBay deals getting posted up, now the cheapest is $65.

  • I payed with my AUS account but am sending to a friend in New Zealand. Wonder if I'll get the credit!

  • is that have to in one transaction?or multiple for total?

  • any cheap ssd?

    • I'm about to buy a 500GB Samsung 850 Evo for $283.17 (2% off from Cash Rewards). Could be treated as $233.17 if you consider the $50 credit to essentially be a discount

      EDIT:
Actually, I'm not buying it from ebay. Amazon has it for about $238 delivered. I'd prefer to spend the extra $5 rather than have the $50 ebay credit

  • My items only added up to $150… seemed stupid to look for the extra 50 to make it back in a gift voucher.

  • Good deal.. except Ebay prices on nearly all the electronics I looked at were terrible.

  • Darn it… I made a purchase moments before it expired, came back here, and saw the "must have same primary email" condition! I was using two different email accounts - so I quickly went and changed the paypal email address to the same as ebay - but did that after I logged into paypal through ebay and paid. Does anyone happen to know if I'll get the voucher?

    • Dammit - I missed that condition too :(

      • crap my ebay email is gmail and my paypal is hotmail

    • From the wording in the T&C's, it may be the case that this condition applies when you're redeeming the voucher (on your next purchase)…I'm hoping this is the case as I had different emails as well :(

"Your eBay.com.au and PayPal accounts must be active at the time of redemption (not suspended nor made inactive by eBay or PayPal) and be registered under the same email address."

      • Good point, thanks. Just have to wait and see now I guess.
