SanDisk 128GB Ultra MicroSD $78 Delivered @ PC Byte (Save $41)

4450
ultratightarse

Hi again everyone. As stated previously, here's the 3rd installment of great offers from PC Byte. The one you all asked for… the highly demanded SanDisk 128GB MicroSD at the crazy price of $78 delivered. Took a lot of convincing, but I finally got Francesca to budge. Look around and you won't find it anywhere for anything less than $110 (including Amazon). MSY sells it for $114 without delivery. This is a genuine bargain, and includes an SD adapter.

Please let me make it perfectly clear from the outset that at no time have I asked, been offered, or received any 'kick backs' to post these deals. I'm the one that approached Francesca, not the other way around. And I will unashamedly continue to do so (even with other reps) so I can secure more great deals for the community. As most of you (and more importantly the mods) know, I am totally open and transparent. I didn't have to declare this, but I feel better for doing it.

Limited to 1 per person for fairness. Francesca should be around to answer questions. Have a great night and I hope you enjoy this deal :)

Please follow instructions carefully. No need to register to buy:

      • You just need to format it as fat32 and cards bigger than 32GB works in just about anything.

        • Nope. FAT32 is Android default. Not the issue.

Larger cards than specified can often be read, but not written to. Sometimes partial with risk of corrupted files.

It's a crapshoot. Varies device-to-device. If specs state an upper-limit for card capacity restriction, there is usually a good reason. Things can also seem to be working just fine, then… problems.

        • @zally:

There is FAT32 and then exFat for cards over 32GB. Licensing issue, vendors have to pay to use exFat, FAT32 is free. So force card to FAT32, been using 64GB cards in many devices only rated for 32GB max, never had a problem.

So your statement FAT32 is Android default is wrong.

        • @VVV: Sensible people (I'm sure that you are one), with much experience of the vagaries of flash-memory, always reformat pre-formatted cards before using them, in any device.

When you reformat a card - of any capacity - in an Android device, it formats in the Android default of…

You have been fortunate in regard to the droids you have experience of. As I said, card-handling issues vary device-to-device.

Incidentally, I am cognizant of the fact that at least some manufacturers pre-format their larger capacity cards as exFAT in order to allow file sizes above 4GB. I have never recorded or placed anything on a phone or tab with a filesize above 4GB. Fat horses for xfat or other courses for people who do.

  • Insane Bargain for the real Tightass :)

  • Brilliant price guys. On ya

  • Amazing price….thanks!

  • Any chance of a deal on the Samsung EVO 128gb? Its greater 4kb speeds make it the superior choice for phones/tablets.

  • +1

Saw this on eBay - apparently by PC Byte too, will be interesting to see this unclench :)

    Sandisk 200GB Ultra Micro SD SDXC 90MB/s UHS-I Class 10 Memory Card - $429

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sandisk-200GB-Ultra-Micro-SD-SDXC…

    • You can get it cheaper on Amazon for about $330.

      http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V62XBQQ

      • Triple the price for less than double the capacity. Poor value. Would have thought the next up is 256Gb.
64Gb card is the best value on Amazon, while 32Gb is the best value in Australia.

  • +1

Tempting but I've had nothing but bad luck with non brick and mortar purchases of memory cards, they all turn out to be fake crap that die early.

    • +1

It does have a pick up option…. so maybe not 'quite' a non brick or mortar store!?!?
      Edit: And a landline aswell

    • +2

PCByte (and MemoryCity before it) have a great reputation on OzBargain built up over the years. Prompt delivery and fantastic after-sales support should someone get a dud card (blame the manufacturer for those).

      • +2

Agree. PCByte is a trustworthy reseller and they do have brick-and-mortar store. Never buy memory cards from non-reputable online resellers.

      • Oh right, I didn't know that. Disregard my earlier comment then.

  • Just a short questions
Is it good enough for Samsung galaxy tab s 10.5??

  • Great deal, although I normally would go for a Samsung EVO this price is too good.

  • Picked one up as the price is unbeatable! Cheers tightarse!

    • "price is unbeatable!" < I would never say that!

  • Well done tightarse

  • Good if I still had an android…. Prob just get lg G4 laster or iPhone 6s and see if I can get this then. Btw Amazon had a faster version for $100 odd which might be worth mentioning too.

    • The Lexar has been mentioned a number of times in the comments.

    • iPhone 6s going to support external microSD card?

      • In which caw if just get the 128gb iPhone and not need this at all.

  • Best code ever!

  • Thanks tightarse
Bought one, now to fil it up ….

  • Would this work with Samsung Tab S?

    • yes

      • +5

        Hey bro :)

      • Thanks, got one for myself :)

  • Thanks tightarse and Francesca, purchased, great deal.

  • Very tempting but I'm really looking for a 256G for my HP X360. Just a hint for the next sale Francesca. Thanks

  • Impossible to say no at this price. Thanks TA and Francesca!

Will go nicely in my Z2 and my future LG G4 :D

  • Soooo tempted but still filling up the 64gb Samsung Evo that went for around $30 at the time…

  • Is this compatible with Galaxy S4 (i9505)?

  • Oh no! I need a microSD for my S5, but I think I may have been asleep during the other 2 sales! :( 128GB seems a little too big for a phone… :(

  • good deal!

    i bought this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Short-Micro-SD-SDHC-TF-Card-Adapt…

to use it with and couldnt be happier!

    arrived in 3 days

    • Was that for the macbook pro 13 retina and if so which year. It states that it sticks out for that model.

      • i bought mine for my macbook air 13"
fits perfectly and I keep it in there all the time now
permanent storage without upgrading my ssd

  • Shows how big the markup is on memory cards.

    Printer ink part two.

  • Don't need it, must resist…

  • +1 just for the coupon code name.

    Upgraded to ultra

  • Been wanting one of these for a while so thanks TA!
Bought one last night and received a receipt from paypal for my payment to OZB Enterprises but no confirmation email from PC Byte.
    Has anybody else received one?

    • Hi azz,

Can you PM me your order number? I'll take a look.

      Cheers
      Francesca

  • Hi tightarse. Thanks for the info on the deal:). Just picked one up today:).

  • Anyone know if these are legit or not?

I could tear the packaging with my hands which I know is an indicator of fakes with kingston. Not sure on sandisk though.

    • +1

      Hi gore,

      All our products are genuine.

      Cheers
      Francesca

      • Yeah on closer inspection everything seems legit. Sorry for the initial doubt but I've been burned before with flash memory.
