SanDisk 128GB Ultra MicroSD $78 Delivered @ PC Byte (Save $41)

4450
ultratightarse

Hi again everyone. As stated previously, here's the 3rd installment of great offers from PC Byte. The one you all asked for… the highly demanded SanDisk 128GB MicroSD at the crazy price of $78 delivered. Took a lot of convincing, but I finally got Francesca to budge. Look around and you won't find it anywhere for anything less than $110 (including Amazon). MSY sells it for $114 without delivery. This is a genuine bargain, and includes an SD adapter.

Please let me make it perfectly clear from the outset that at no time have I asked, been offered, or received any 'kick backs' to post these deals. I'm the one that approached Francesca, not the other way around. And I will unashamedly continue to do so (even with other reps) so I can secure more great deals for the community. As most of you (and more importantly the mods) know, I am totally open and transparent. I didn't have to declare this, but I feel better for doing it.

Limited to 1 per person for fairness. Francesca should be around to answer questions. Have a great night and I hope you enjoy this deal :)

Please follow instructions carefully. No need to register to buy:

  • Does this work with macbook air (with a sd adapter)?

    • +3

      from Apple —
Which SD card formats work in the SD card slot?

Cards that conform to the SD 1.x, 2.x, and 3.x standards should work. The SD card slot can use cards that are Standard SD (Secure Digital) 4 MB to 2 GB, SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) 4 GB to 32 GB, and SDXC (Secure Digital Extended Capacity) 4G B to 2 TB. MMC can also be used in this slot. MiniSD, MicroSD, and higher density formats like MiniSDHC and MicroSDHC can also work with the use of "passive" adapters

Thais is a SDXC so should be fine with an adaptor - the card does poke out the computer though (I am sure it does on my sons), so prob not for permanently plugged in.

    • +2

This support page says there is support for SDXC formats up to 2TB and for passive adapters to micro card sizes

      https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204384

Keep in mind that provided adapter will probably not sit flush with the macbook chassis. You can get shorter ones (e.g. http://www.adafruit.com/products/1569 ) that will sit flush and are relatively "set and forget".

    • Should, I use one in my MacBook Pro all the time (with flush adapter)

Seems like Sandisk use the word "Ultra" loosely.

      • +1

Ultra series are their budget products. Above that you get Extreme and Extreme Pro.
I guess there's the class 4 products below ultra.

        • +2

Don't think Extreme & Extreme Pro come in anything larger that 64GB? I may be wrong.

        • These are only class 10

        • @tightarse: You're right, maximum size for extreme and extreme pro is only 64GB :)

        • @Fobsessive: Most of the fast microSD cards are class 10 anyway.

        • @edfoo: Sadly still a long long way from SSD speeds

        • +1

Sandisk's class 10 microSD cards have 4 grades: Ultra, Extreme, Extreme Plus and Extreme Pro.
In US, they also have Ultra Plus and High Endurance class 10 cards.

        • @Fobsessive: You are comparing apple with orange there.

        • +3

@francesca2148: Can you bring the SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO MicroSD deal back? :)

        • @Fobsessive: if Ultra, Extreme and Extreme Pro are all Class 10 then why buy the more expensive one?

        • @YellowKnight: Google is your friend, mate.

        • +6

@ronnknee: Hey, let me see what I can do =)

        • +3

          @francesca2148:

+1000 if you can get the SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO MicroSD deal back :D

        • +4

@regenade: TA will need to do a lot of convincing :)

        • +1

          @YellowKnight:
10 indicates the minimum speed, faster card is always more expensive

        • @edfoo: more like comparing a car and fighter jet

        • @YellowKnight: Because, marketing words. /s

        • @Fobsessive:

There's only class 10 in the classes. Lol

    • +1

Almost stopped me from buying due to the low write speeds. The Tab S can do up to 25mb/sec writes. But I guess for movies and games the read of 47mb is good enough. Pulled the trigger, thanks TA for unclenching !

      • +1

The writes on this card are actually pretty decent. Dont be fooled by the small numbers - those are writing 4k files. A large block write is around 15MB/Sec is not too bad. You cant get "Extreme" or "Extreme Pro" speeds in the 128GB anyway, so this is about the best you can get for 128GB.

    • +2

Look around and you won't find it anywhere for anything less than $110 (including Amazon).

The Lexar is almost double the speed for around $105. Also comes with a USB3.0 microSD reader.
      Lexar MicroSDXC 633x 128GB UHS-I/U3 95MB/s

      • the lexar is $100 shipped. Not a bad price with twice the speed.

    • The Lexar 633x 128gb is a better option if you need speed performance.

  • …ahh just bought one :(

any deal possible for a good 128gb SD card for DSLR's?

    • +2

      Hi Demarco,

      PM me?

      Cheers
      Francesca

    • Put this microSD card in a SD card adaptor and use it in your DSLR.

      • It's very slow, might not be very good if he shoots video, maybe get a faster one in Full SD Card size then Micro SD.

        • Are you telling me the full size SD Sandisk Ultra writes faster than the micro SD Ultra?

        • @edfoo: Not in particularl "SanDisk Ultra" line, but there are other brands that offer 128GB capacities at UHS-I rather than Class 10 speeds, but in Full SD form factor. Not sure of the price though and at what resolutions he is shooting with his DSLR and how much write speed it needs to take video or burst shots.

        • @The Land of Smeg: Well I was just suggesting to Demarco if he already got this 128Gb Ultra card, might as well use it in a SD card adaptor, rather than buying another new card. He may only want to shoot single shot photos or low bit-rate HD video, so the Ultra can handle the speed.

        • @edfoo: Yeah for sure it might fit, just pointing out that he should double check that this card is suitable for how he uses the DSLR. The write speed is not particularly fast compared to other SD cards even though the storage is top notch. It's a tradeoff.

Sorry, coupon code "ultratightarse" is too tight.

almost missed that final "place order" button. It should be on the lower RHS and maybe a button rather than just text

  • +1

Thanks so much, this will go awesomely into my SP1 with powercover :) another 2 years of use :)

  • OZB enterprises takes the paypal payment?

  • What's a good USB3.0 card reader to use these with?

  • What the … I got this for $99.95 on 30/4 from the same place. And I thought that I had a good bargain. I have it in my LG G3 waiting for the LG G4. Now it's like I just lost $11.95!

    • It's more like $21.95.

    • +1

      You mean $21.95 :)

      • Yeah! I found myself dumfound and I got dumba

  • +1

Damn, so cheap. Thanks for this. I'm still astounded that so much memory fits in something 15mm×11mm×1mm

    • +1

They're actually thinner than 1mm! Agreed, amazing :)

  • is this a good memory for gorpo4 silver?

    • +2

I would say no due to the slow write speeds.

    • +2

I was initially excited for this deal until I realized it's only an Ultra, so no good for GoPros. A good deal nonetheless.

      Love your work Francesca.

      • +2

        Thank you =)

According to GoPro - 4K recording requires about 60Mbit/sec
      http://gopro.com/support/articles/hero4-black-recording-time…

This card writes up to 15 MB (Megabyte)/Sec or 120Mbit/sec for large files/writes.

I can record 4k recording on my Samsung Note 4 with my 128GB Sandisk just fine without jitter - same bandwidths.

      • What is the Mbit/sec for the 4k video recorded by Samsung Note 4? Same as GoPro 4 Black's 60Mbit/sec or slower? Because I read quite a few users' experience that the Sandisk Ultra and Samsung EVO fail to record properly at that high video bit rate.

  • i find Sandisks cards failing now.. got 2x 64gb ones that have write issues, will have to look into RMA'ing them.. its a shame because i cant even wipe the stuff on the cards before i send em back.

    trying out Samsung Evo's now..

  • Can confirm this is an OUTRAGEOUSLY good price, like i have never seen this for less than $98 or so. Amazed to see this price first in AU!

Can someone advise if this is worthwhile to get as something too good to miss out even though I don't have any device to use it on. I don't it works on the Asus memo 7 or huawei y550

    • +3

Why buy it if it dont work on your devices its not a bargain if its not usable.

      • Yeah ending too much time at ozbargain is clouding my mind. Will sKipling this one. Thanks

    • +2

dont buy it. wait until you need the card.
      save your money.

  • Must.not.click.add to cart.

  • Oof! Last deal was $95.20 two months ago from Futu and THAT was cheap.

  • I have 2 of these, in a Surface Pro 3 and Note 4,this is an amazing price

  • Do these work with those China brand Androids?

    • most do….

    • +1

Lots of the cheaper, lower-spec models (tablets too) don't accept cards with capacities above 32GB. Others, 64GB.
      You do need to check.
