Apparently the heart rate is reasonably accurate, as long as you're sitting down not doing anything.

      I agree, mostly.

I have been using the HR since April this year, when I'm exercising I often manually check my pulse - because I know it's running around 120-140 bpm and the FitBit HR regularly shows 80 bpm (or thereabouts).

I find it is more accurate with walking, even at a fast pace. But with any high intensity stuff forget it, I'm quite disappointed and would not recommend it for the HR monitor.

Edit: I gave a + for the price since it's about $10 cheaper than I paid and other functions are still quite good.

      • Harvey Norman has a huge ad in todays Daily Murdoch Ranter where it is $186.

        • What's that, $13 off RRP?

"Here's why: on a fairly profound level, the Fitbit Charge HR and its ilk just don't work. Anyone who's used as many as I have in the last few months is aware that their step counting is generally wrong, that the sleep tracking is both shallow and of minimal use. Oh, and also frequently wrong. And don't even get me started on their feeble attempts to track exercise that doesn't involve walking."

Oh, tell me more. I'm interested.

    • Correct. Have the Surge and it's absolutely hopeless at tracking HR above 100. Don't even bother turning it on if you're doing HIIT.

      • Shame that the HR monitoring isn't great via fitness watches/bands. Chest straps are very annoying. Stuck with them for now I guess.

        • For a wrist based HR strap, check out the MIO range. I use a Mio Link with smartphones & Garmin Edge 500 and it works great.

        • Interesting- does seem quite accurate from most accounts. I wonder why it can do it and the other wrist ones can't?

Still puzzled as to why you would want continuous HR reading. I've been using chest HR monitors for 20 years and only once felt the need to monitor HR while I wasn't exercising.

    Were $169.15

  • Who is actually buying these things? They're expensive and by most accounts are generally useless.

the call notification is pretty useful. Especially for women who's phones are always in their handbags.

  • Using $25 bt chest strip from kmart for cycling and hiit cardio, very good monitoring with my lg g2.

  • Is there any watch that would work for heart rate whilst running? I'm a slow runner.. 6min/km.

  • Not much of a discount.

Selling for $156.42 only a few days ago. ~$20 discount. Not really 20%

Dicksmith is selling on their website for cheap $126.65

    • This is for the more expensive Charge HR (with 24/7 Heart Rate monitoring), your link is the cheaper model.

  • FMD. Another ebayer who doesn't post to PO Boxes.
Their 'click and collect system certainly requires patience.
You can select a store before clicking buy, but that is later ignored.
You MUST set a non-PO box address
    Then click 'buy now'
then change to click and collect
    then select a store

  • Not available for this price in plum, blue or tangerine as per your description.

    • Not really 'my' description. Was a quick copy paste from eBay.
