Just looked back at previous deals, this is the cheapest it has been on Ozbargain.

  • Good cheap fast printing

  • people actually still buy printer these days?..or just buy printer, ink finish then throw away?

    • +4

Even if you buy printers for the ink or toner you still have to buy printers, even more in fact. The question really should be do people use printers instead of online documents and the answer is unfortunately some people have to.

    • -1

      2 issues
      1. environmental issue
      2. most inks that come with printer are half the size of the standard ink

  • Thanks for posting this!

Not sure I would recommend this printer. I purchased it for $38 (from memory) at Officeworks and had it refuse to print after about 6 months and a couple of hundred printouts.

Quality wise text was fine but greyscale photo prints were quite stripy.

    • How was Officeworks in dealing with the warranty, usually they just offer you another one?

      • I didn't return it. I could (and should) have, but the printer was so cheap that even going to the store would have cost $5 in fuel and thus have been a fair chunk of the printer's original purchase price. I ended up buying a Fuji Xerox colour laser printer for $159 which so far has performed well with brilliant print quality in both colour and greyscale.

  • Just bought one . Hopefully it worth the money .

  • Had mine for years starter toner lasted 2 years with min use the bought a high volume generic toner for $100

  • "In addition, the HL-1110 printer's two-sided printing "
    ….

    "Double Sided Printing: No"

    Which is it?

    • Manual double side printing.

        WTF in 2015

        • +2

AUD28 in 2015. You're lucky it comes in a box.

        • Guess it's better than engraving in stone like some cultures still do to these days. Lucky Australia's a bit more progressive than that.

  • Does it come with the toner as well? How many pages yield per starter toner?
    Thanks

    • Yes comes with starter toner.

I've had it for almost a year now, no major troubles, good value, cheap and efficient printing!

    • If you buy a spare one, the original won't ever break down. Cheap insurance. And you get a reasonably cheap replacement cartridge (I know it doesn't have the same capacity as the "proper" cartridge).

  • are there any good deals for a auto duplexer printer with these deals?

There is the Brother HL-L2365DW from Kogan for $78. It is $149 at officeworks. The non-WiFi one can be bought online for around 90. But I have never seen the WiFi one for anywhere near this price.

      Here is a link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BROTHER-HLL2365DW-Mono-Laser-Prin…

at the time I posted there was only 1 left

        Thanks mate, just ordered one

  • I bought one of these a couple of years ago and works fine except it isnt very good for job applications and formal documents as it is a wee bit faint in the ink.
Dunno whether it is just the cartridge that comes with these special offers so dunno if a new cartridge would fix it

  • I bought the wireless one a couple of weeks ago… great little printer, fast, quiet, and the kids can print from anywhere in the house. Saves us all being in the one room and having to talk to each other :-)

  • Good price.

  • This very printer has bad reviews (on OW sites ) stating that after few weeks it prints extra unwanted "stuff" on one side of paper. (photoconductor fails I guess)

    • More likely someone had a paper jam, and just reefed the paper out of the printer, instead of using the proper procedure. That'll damage the photoconductor.

Proper procedure for paper jams is shown on page 54 (by number on the page, 60th page of the PDF) of the user's guide, downloadable here:
      http://support.brother.com/g/b/manualtop.aspx?c=au&lang=en&p…

I've had mine since the start of this year, no problems so far. Just ordered a second one as insurance, don't want a printer breakdown the night before assignments are due.

I just wish it had a proper power switch - even if that adds $5 to the price.

This printer made me disappointed. I brought it from ow for $36 3 days ago. It is said 20 pages per minute. But after I continuely printed about 50 pages, it became very slow.It seemed overheat . Then it was halt 10 to 15 seconds for cooling down after every 3 pages were done.

The worst printing experience I have.

  • just bought one, was looking for a wifi multifunction laser printer to replace my ink eating HP inkjet monster but i guess i will have to manage scanning with the hp and printing with this. At this price i would have only been able to buy one of the ink cartiage only.

    thx

    It's compatible with TN-1000 and DR-1000 cartridges.

In Australia, the replacement cartridges have the code TN-1070, and the drum is DR-1070.

The codes you have listed are "for other countries", according to page 62 of the user guide (page 68 of the PDF):
    http://support.brother.com/g/b/manualtop.aspx?c=au&lang=en&p…

  • It does not come with printer to computer USB cable….. luckily I had one from old printer. Good Guys website does not say without printer cable, surly it would be a reasonable assumption a cable is included unless they state otherwise. Anyway it's working well.

    • Sadly that's the norm nowadays, so they can upsell you with a high priced cable.
TVs, DVD players and BluRay players usually don't come with a HDMI cable either, for the same reason.

    • That's the norm for Brother printers.

I got an email saying my order is ready for pick up from good guys Caringbah. And later a lady rang me to told me that they only have a display model. And I told her she can put a back order for me, I can wait. She told me I'm not sure if you'll get it for that price if I back order. WTF

    • Same here in Perth. I said no thanks, I don't want one someone has printed a thesis or two on and then return to the store in new condition.

I bought this printer last year at ~$40 for printing uni notes. Definitely good value for money, esp at this price. Lasted almost a year with no issues, until it started to feed the paper at an angle a bit. Just needed to shift the tray so it was straight again and it's fine. Cheap generic toner on ebay as well - got 2x for ~$30

    • How long or about how many pages would a generic replacement toner last?

I don't need this printer for anything fancy. Just to print loads of unimportant black and white pages (college notes, web pages, instructions, etc).

Also should I buy two of them in case the first breaks down? (like a few people above)

      • I've only just used my first replacement toner in March and it hasn't run out yet. I don't know the exacts but I've probably printed 200-400 pages so far. I don't think it's necessary to buy 2 unless you really want to. The normal price is not that expensive to begin with and I've seen this on sale quite a few times since I bought it. But since it's cheap, it still wouldn't hurt to buy 2 if you want.

  • Thanks for that. My old HP is giving signs of dying- perfect timing! In stock- will pick-up when I go to pick-up my two 2TB Seagate externals- lol.

    :)

  • Price gone up to $49 ($39.20) after eBay coupon =(

  • +1

"Back" to $36. Actually it went up in price by $1 (was $35).

  • Not as good as $28 but I'll take it. Cheers.
