  • Any idea what brand it is or is it some noname generic crap. Not that good of a deal for a noname tablet.

    • +2

obviously it's that noname generic crap.

The Unisurf 7" Quad Core, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage tablet (although is a Windows 8.1 tablet) for $42 after cash back from Harvey Norman may be a better deal. What do you think?.

        • or the 8 inch for $47 Quad Core, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage tablet (although is a Windows 8.1 tablet) according to this deal

        • @altomic:

Yes such a good deal for that Unisurf 8" isn't it.

  • +1

It does seem to have a name:

One person on whirlpool seems happy.

    • One person doesn't make many.

    • It's actually this tablet. Hena 7" A33 Quad Core

      http://www.henadigital.com/products_detail/&productId=45.htm…

      • Yep, Target sells them under the name Netgreen. For the sale price they're actually not so bad. I've played with the 10" version, which is currently $89, and it's reasonable for the price.

        The good:
Does USB OTG. Has Bluetooth, GPS, even an FM Radio. It runs quite fast and has practically no apps preloaded, so you get almost the entire storage to play with.
        The bad:
        There's no HDMI.
        The ugly:
The screen resolution isn't the problem at all, but the viewing angle is atrocious. There's a very narrow angle that the screen is clear at. Only in Landscape though, in portrait the screen is much, much, better. Go figure.

The battery life isn't great, but it's not terrible either, it's pretty normal for a cheap tablet. You'd probably get half a day to a day of flat-out use. The build quality is platicky, but it doesn't feel like it's about to fall apart. All it comes with is the charging power-pack and the USB cable for same. The version of Kitkat on it is almost completely stock.

  • don't waste your time

    • Yeah I reckon the Unisurf 7" Quad Core Windows 8.1 tablet from HN $42 after cash back is a lot better deal. But that's just my opinion.

Even the 8" Quad Core, IPS display 1280x800 resolution model is $72 after cash back. Twice the storage space and an extra inch larger screen for only $13 more than this 7" Android tablet from Target.

      • I've got one of those and hate that too :P maybe it's mainly my hatred of windows 8.1, I might use it more if it gets the win10 upgrade, but I hear <8" tablets won't get the proper desktop :'(

        • Yes well the Unisurf 8" has an IPS display panel. Superior to that lower resolution TN panel on this tablet from Target.

Basically the specs on the Unisurf 8" Windows 8.1 tablet beat the crap out of this tablet from Target and only $13 more (after cashback) as I said previously.

        • @hollykryten: don't tempt me to buy the 8" as well :P

        • +1

maybe it's mainly my hatred of windows 8.1

This would be why it isn't comparable and doesn't interest most people. If you could flash it to Android then a lot more people would be interested.

        • @hollykryten:
I picked up an 8" Unisurf as an impulse buy. The screen is quite good. Much better than the various cheapo Android tablets I played with. Its exceeded my modest expectations and has encouraged me to buy a 2GB device when Win 10 comes as standard.

  • I bought this one last week.. for me it's much better than the Ainol Venus 7", which was really crap. As OP pointed out, the main drawback is the small battery size. Otherwise I found it was responsive enough for watching movies and web browsing. The screen's touch sensitivity is good. It's not a popular brand so I could only find generic case and screen protector for it.

    "HD resolution 1024 x 600"

seriously?! in what universe is that resolution HD?

  • I bought two of these on target eBay yesterday using c20extra for $94.40 total delivered. Got two 8" cases from target eBay for an extra $1.20 each They are for my two kids (4 and 6) to learn numbers and letters on. ( they struggle to use the track pads on the laptop).
