  • is the code region / country specific

  • After I entered the code, I got a popup saying $30 has been added to your account. But there seems to be no option in the app to go back and check your account balance?

    • In the app if you go to menu -> Payment, any credit in you account should be listed under the credit balance heading, just below your credit card. (i'm android)

      • it's actually not credit but a ride voucher (deal updated)

login via web (not app) > payment > promotions

  • I originally got a message saying that the promotion was going to give me $35 during signup, but then checking the account page it's saying "(XPERIARide) $30 off your first ride with Uber - Enjoy!" - so not sure if it's going to be $30, or $35. Either way, better than nothing - thanks!

Edit: I'm new to this whole uber thingy - does the 1st August thing mean the credit expires then?

    • im new as well in payment it say "(XPERIARide) $30 off your first ride with Uber - Enjoy!

      XPERIARide 6/4/2015 7:28am UTC - 8/4/2015 7:28am UTC"

so does that mean it expire on the 4/8/15?

      • yes 4th august

  • 30 and happy

      31 and I feel so old :-(

  • I entered the code during sign-up as a new user (finally decided to join) and it said I'd get $35 (small green button in top-right). I entered my credit card details and the promo code disappeared.

If I look in PAYMENT in the app, it's not listed (though the Uber help files say it should be). If I try to apply it again, it says it's applied to my account already.

Not off to a good start…

    • +1

use web browser to log into ur account it will show not the apps.

      • Thanks - that worked for me, except that it reduced the sign-up bonus from $35 to $30.

    • When I look into payment on my web browser it is not listed as well and it says coupon applied to account already
      hmmm….

  • on the website it say XPERIARide6/4/2015 7:28am UTC - 8/4/2015 7:28am UTC
does that mean i can still use it or is it expried?

Its in the US format, so I believe, it would expire on 4th August 2015

  • Does this stack with the $25 referral discount? If so, awesome! If not, I would make that clear in the post (to avoid people going through the embedded referral links).

    • not likely - generally only one new user code per account, and both this deal and referral are new user codes

  • When signing up, do I need to enter my credit/debit card details? Is there a way of skipping this.

    • paypal via app sign-up?

      • Doesnt seem to offer paypal.

  • Thanks wazza. Got $30 (not $35).

  • It stacks with referral? Also, does drivers complain about carrying 2 suitcases to another place (not airport, I think it is forbidden drop there)?

    • no, shouldn't if there's enough space

  • I got $35 - but I'm using a Sony Xperia phone to do it.

    • thanks - deal updated :)

  • Does the $30 or $35 needs to be used by 1st August?

  • Where can I see the credit? I have just registered.

  • Be aware of the recent comments on Uber accessing data on your phones.
    Address book
    Text messages
    Social media activity
    Just saying.

    • Every time an app wants spammy permissions, I stop and wonder why devs would want that. In Uber's case, they want me to send text or Facebook messages to my friends to recommend Uber. I don't even have Facebook, so whatevs Uber - have that if you want but I won't be spamming friends.

There is an option to text your driver. That's why they want to be able to send texts. Seems reasonable enough.

In short, I'm aware of the permissions they want and I allowed it. But if they abuse my trust, I'll be uninstalling the app. They aren't idiots, they know what would happen if they were ever caught doing anything nefarious.

      • -1

They have been caught out doing all sorts of nefarious things.
Digging dirt on journalists who criticize them in print.
Blocking numbers of people they think may be "unsympathetic" to their methods.
        Operating without proper licences.
Employing drivers who do not have proper licences, insurance etc.
Ramping up prices at peak times, including when the public are vulnerable.
        What has happened?

        • "Ramping up prices at peak times" - isn't this pretty normal though?

If there's higher demand, not everyone will get a car if the prices stay the same. Those who have more flexible timing will wait so that those who are really desperate for a car will pay the premium to get it sooner, rather than later.

        • @IanK: So do taxis do that?
Do people realise that at "peak times" Uber is more expensive than a regular taxi?

        • @Ninjastud: Good question.. not sure about taxis here in Australia, but it happens in Singapore.

          EDIT:
          Sort of, but not really:

  • Does anyone know if i can use the credit in Europe. I am travelling there later this month and would like to use it there. I read that if the credit is in $ then Uber will not use the credit but charge the entire amount to my card. Is this $30 credit in Aud or Usd?

  • Just tried with my friends xperia phone (Z3 compact) and it just gave my $30.

  • Just signed up and got $30. Thanks OP

  • Has anyone used it? When I added the code it worked however when I tried to call a UberX it said Promo Code Not Valid.

    • yep got couple of free rides last week on 2 different phones

      • Can it be used anywhere in Australia?

  • So I just got the code, how do I actually use it? Especially when it's not showing up on the actual app just the online page.

  • Even though the code applied successfully, it was not applied to my first trip. Upon following this up with Uber, I was informed that they will not honour codes that have been distributed via a public forum. This is the second time it's happened when I've tried to use one of their codes (I have two different phone numbers). Hopefully you guys have better luck.
