Audiosonic Cable Tidy Unit $2 @ Kmart (TAS, Possibly Nationwide)

410

Saw this Bluelounge CableBox rip off at Kmart last night. Useful for hiding the clutter of cables. Was marked as $4, but scanned as $2.

I have no doubt that a true Ozbargainer like JV or tightarse would use a cardboard box with holes cut out ;)

Also provided a banana for scale in the pic!

How big is the banana ? Small, medium or large?

    • +4

umm medium I guess? I'm not a banana eater.

      • +2

The reason I ask, the bluelounge boxes are 40cm long. Your box is a banana width long. So maybe only 20cm? Which isn't long enough to put a four port board in?

        • 23cm to be exact.

          @Clear:

That's the banana or the box?

        • @ash2000: Box

        • @Clear:

Ok thx. A standard 4 port Powerboard is about 27cm. So it can't be used for that, unless it will squeeze in diagonally .

@ash2000: I gotta know - how long is the banana?

        • @Clear: that's a BIG box! :P

    • +4

a bit smaller than the box

    • Eat the damn banana!

  • Is that a ladyfinger ?

  • +1

so it's a box with holes in it…

    • +1

Yep, but doesn't look like a banana will fit in it :(

      • +1

It's for cables not banana (plugs)

        • +1

The banana was put in by the minions.

        • +1

no more worries to get the cable tightened up.

          King Bob!!!!

    • yeah and it has a lid too! isn't that just amazing?

  • +1

    Velcro cable ties. Cheaper. Easier.

  • +1

I purchased four of these … two as battery cases for my e-bike and the other two as risers under the base of the TV.

  • +4

Am I the only one that has no clue what purpose this serves?

It seems to be a box you can put cables through, for some reason. So instead of Velcro or zip ties holding cables together, you use a massive box!?!

I must be missing something. Is there something clever inside the box, besides a half eaten banana?

    • If cables are extra long you can have them tangled up inside and potentially used in conjuction with zip ties to hide cables as well. Deal was more of a joke post however :P

      • Oh, so you can coil cables inside. Never thought of that.

        • Unfortunately due to it's size you can't fit a standard 4 port powerboard in it though :(. My Xiaomi powerboard is a tight squeeze diagonal though.

  • +1

    +1 for the nana.

Buy cable tidy unit. Remove from box. Poke holes in box. Now you have 2 * cable tidy units.

  • +6

Is it weird that I'm more interested in the banana than the cable box?

  • Someone's a redditor :P

      Imgur ;-)

      • +2

It still kinda blows my mind that there is a separate group of people that just browses imgur haha.

I use a cardboard box with holes in it behind my TV to hide the powerboard. I even went snazzy and used a white one - posh!

    • Is it safe tho?
If anything overheating, you just made it worse

      • I'd say so, the back side is mostly open to allow the cords to disappear down the back of the TV unit. It's a slim box too, so very obviously it looks posh, and most definitely doesn't doesn't look like cardboard. 😋. But no, it actually doesn't look that bad. Hides the godawful monster of the power block from catching your eye below the TVs frame and blends with the wall.

  • So the deal comes with a banana?

  • +1
  • My banana seems to be bigger :)

  • +3

    Go banana !

    • Make way for grapefruit. GOOO GRAPEFRUIT!

  • 9Gagers FTW!

  • +1

My hamster will love it. Thanks.

  • I just use the free norton 360 and trendmicro boxes from last year for the cables.

how come there's none this year….

  • +1

how much was the banana? I thought this was a deal on bananas

  • Banana looks out of warranty!

  • Anyone got any links for cable tie deals (or places to find them)? I've got a few electrical cables and network cables that I'd like to tidy up

  • I have one under my bed with a double adapter, for my lamp and quad usb charger. Its perfect because my quad charger has a huge blue LED light on it and was a distraction at night

  • +1

Is this ok as a lunchbox

  • Upvoted for the banana.

  • Is $4 the original price or was it a mark down already?

    • +1

      Marked down price.

      • What were they charging normally? What section were they in? Also were there bigger sized ones?

        • +1

No idea what the original price was as the tag didn't say. They were in the electronics section next to the dummy security cameras and there were no bigger ones.
