    "Any bargains?"

    • +7

Yes, free movie hire that normally costs around $4.

      • +2

I thought I'd never see a role reversal in play!

  • +4

They don't have blu-rays only DVDs, so for me it is no no. So instead I use Video Ezy.

    • +1

They used to. I wonder when they stopped?

If they were to provide both blu-ray and dvd formats, they'd only be able to offer half the titles at each machine…

Also, a lot of their customers are probably not tech savvy and don't subscribe to streaming services, and probably don't have blu-ray players.

      • +1

Yeah, Blu-ray is the LaserDisc of the 21st century.

    • +3

really??! cant believe they stopped BD…i mean I just cant stand watching DVD anymore…

      • +8

You can sit down and watch XD

        • you win this time, next time you wont be so lucky… ;)

    • Can you get free videos at Video Ezy !!?
Our local one went Karput last year …

  • thanks OP, good for school holidays.. Got 2 movies -> Home, Paper Plane..

@jv: why not ? My kids are ozbargainer's children

        • -2

          @AG1304x:

          why not ?

          They watch Netflix.

        • +1

@jv: No worries mate, I got 6 month free Presto account (no Paper planes & Home in Presto though), and now I am going to take 3 months free Netflix as well with AMEX deal

        • @AG1304x:
Ozbargain kids? You bought the fake condom at the time?

  • +2

From the title, I thought it is for hiring the whole Kiosk machine.

    • lol… hire the machine for a day… movies for the whole family! How about that for an attention grabber!

  • +2

Pfft, what is this, the dark ages?!

    4k or nothing!! :P

    • Why sit that close - there are no buttons or knobs to play with? Still - I went for the Nexus 10 so I wouldn't be in danger of seeing a pixel if I decided to mirror it to a 60" screen

  • Does the free rental include 3 day TV series as well?

Its a shame they only stock DVD and no blu-ray.

  • Finally back…Sorry but Neflix has gotten to you as well Hoyts…You need the free rentals to gain some traction!

OK so more importantly what should you rent!?

  • Thanks op… Too many Oz bargainers in town though … A couple movies are already out in the nx100 in Perth

  • Worked for box set. Free three night rental!

  • Dumb and Dumber To tonight! Thanks OP.

  • +1

I rented Boyhood…was surprised to find that it was normally $1 to rent. So only saved $1.

  • The movies these days ain't very good so it's very hard to choose even if it's free. So as a Ozbargainer, you should aim to get it for free but with maximum enjoyment and well time spend

I suggest future post to include imdb or rotten tomatoes on which movie to hire and with maximum savings and disregard the ones on $1
