Superhero Cordless Handvac $1 - Batteries Required @ Godfreys

500

Saw this on Godfreys' website. Superhero Cordless Handvac previously $3 and now $1, in-store only. Well you do only get what you pay for

  • 3 months warranty only
  • 0.15l capacity
  • Batteries required but not included

Not too sure what kind of batteries does it take Takes 4x C batteries according to TA's comment so for the Eneloop collectors you'll need an adapter. From the customers' review this kind of doesn't suck. Well, but it's cheap.

On a catalogue I received today they also have Superhero Robot Sweeper for $39 (currently still $69 on the website).

        • @douglasb: "Broden" is a myth. The verb at least. He never actually onsold anything.

        • +4

@Son ofa Zombie: I think deep down inside there's a little "broden" in us all. He lives on in my heart, anyway

        • @shmahoo: does he pay rent?…. i'd make him pay rent… surely his flush with cash with all the bargains he has on-sold.. :P

        • @scud70: no payment - he stole my heart!

    kind of doesn't suck

I see what you did there but I can't tell whether it is a good or a bad vac either.

  • +11

I'm pretty sure the $1 coin you hand over for this bad boy would do just as good a job sucking up dust (or air) as this thing.

    • Cheap sucks dont really work and nothing comes out (of the bag)- at least according to Godfrey's own reviews from their customers..

  • Not too sure what kind of batteries does it take.

    Takes 4x C batteries scotty…

You can be my (super)hero baby

From the customers' review this kind of doesn't suck.

Checked one out at Godfreys not too long ago, that reviewer was right on the money…makes a small noise but I couldn't detect any suction…the salesman actually warned me about this up front!

I know you can't expect too much for a buck, but these things are seriously useless. Do yourself a favour & don't bother making the trip to Godfreys just for one of these…

    • +8

      It doesn't suck? That sucks.

      • Nahh, it doesnt suck!

        • Does suck!

  • +4

I called a store about one of these a few weeks ago and when I mentioned what I was after the guy on the phone he told me they mainly sell these as kids toys and they are simply just weak and not even worth the $1 but did manage to test one and they were pretty weak hardly did anything but ymmv.

    Thanks op for posting :)

    • +3

I wonder if there's scope for modding these? Crack it open and install an actual fan?… hmmmmm

  • +11

so for a $1 you get a plastic vacuum case, a motor, a battery caddy which holds 4 "c" batteries, a filter, and a switch.

    • +10

For most, this is also known as landfill.

    • +6

Maybe there isn't a fan but it's really an mp3 player playing the SOUND of a fan!

  • I bought this for like 10, 4 years ago. Never got the batteries and it's been sitting in its box above my fridge ever since.

  • How well can this suck? I pefer ones that can suck really good.

    • +1

I think this would suck better than my missus…

  • I wanna get one of these and chase people around a shopping centre with it :D

Could you pull the motor and attach it to a home built windmill and retire off the savings made from energy creation back to the grid ?

    • +3

Yes, in your mind you could.

    • +3

Yes you could, until Tony Abbott in SWAT gear busts open your front door and rips the windmill down and sends you back to work #Tonydoesn'tlikewindpower

  • The single action sticker should be updated to "single use"

    • as in "not for married couples" ? :)

  • I got something very similar some time ago and it was pretty rubbish, but at least mine was powered off the cigarette lighter so no battery needed (except the one in your car)

  • They often have $1 deals. My iron broke the other week and I saw that they had a $1 iron… already gone - they go like hotcakes.

  • Does this vacuum suck? (as in the verb not the adjective)

  • I went into godfreys twice before, for sale items, each time the sales guy talked me out of buying the item.

  • i really want one of those, i was looking for a portable or handheld vac for a longtime. As a scale modeler, my desk or working bench is always like a mess(with very little plastic parts/) so this is perfect for my application. i would rather this one cost like 10~20 bucks for much much decent quality and overall useage or performance. But never the less , since other comments says its not that bad, and 1 buck is like free. why not give it a try.

reply me if you have any good alternative fits my discritpiton.

For your budget I'd probably go for http://www.godfreys.com.au/home-hero-handheld. It is a $24 hand vac with rechargeable NIMH batteries. I would spend a little more money and buy something that is rechargeable so that I don't have to keep on replacing the batteries. Plus NIMH batteries are second best to LI-ION, so it really isn't that bad (eneloops are NIMH). And after using NIMH and LI-ION powered vacuums I have noticed that both kinds keep their suction power relatively constant with time. Just remember to follow the recharging instructions (normally this means leaving the vacuum plugged into the powered adaptor, as the adaptor will turn off once charging is completed) to prolong the life of the vacuum. I hope this helps.

      • exactly what i need. I would prefer a bigger mouth one but this one looks very professional with its transparent plasitc seeing what;s inside, cool thanks somuch!
