@GnarlyKnuckles: and someone else needs a reality check, aint you got noting better to do? Pretty poor comeback for the smartest man on the internet BTW…

          @pointless comment:
Right back at ya' 'champ'. Now, get back to work before you get the sack. If you really are only 20 years old (which would explain your pointless comments somewhat), then you'll need every penny you can get if you ever hope to break out of the rental rat-race. Best of luck with that.

Now, here's a final tip from the 'smartest man on the internet' (your words, not mine) to the, erm, opposite type of internet user:

If you didn't rise to the occasion with such misguided indignation and churlishness, you wouldn't find yourself constantly getting drawn into these little tussles on the internet, with peeps who then proceed to mop the floor with you intellectually. That's just a friendly bit of advice, take it or leave it.

As a little test, how about you try and resist the urge to post some feeble response to the comment I have just posted? Simply 'move on' to all those better things you have to do.

          Happy trails!

@GnarlyKnuckles: lol….sarcasm is the lowest form of wit u say?

          @pointless comment:
That it is, son… it's good that you are now showing signs of actually learning something, rather than quixotically picking arguments and rapidly finding yourself out of your depth, and getting all worked up. As I said, the next step in your therapy will be to try and resist perpetuating a pointless argument that is clearly making you upset, by not repeatedly adding pathetic responses to it. Try it with this comment. Instead of getting angry and typing a response, just take a deep breath, and count to ten.

Then go and eat the sanga your momma made you for lunch this morning.

          (soz, couldnae' resist)

@GnarlyKnuckles: Sorry if ive hit a nerve… It seems by the vindictive tone of your last posts that you are the one who is upset….maybe you are the one who needs a hug as you put it? anyway, i really dont care what some random old dude on the net has to say, especially when its in such a negative tone. I think perhaps you are inadvertantly outwardly projecting your true feelings, wants, needs, and insecurities here - adjectives such as upset/angry/worked up/pathetic and use of the noun momma..you are the one introducing those words into conversation, not me!

Take your own advice and try not to respond to this comment - lead by example and the wisdom of age that you imply you posess!

        • @GnarlyKnuckles: also, given that this is a post for cheap flashlights/torches/illuminators, just wondering how many did you actually buy? Seeing as you have not +1, im guessing none…which would lead many to conclude that you stopped by just to start an argument in the first place

          @pointless comment:
          Ode to PC

          I need no flashlight,
As the brave can traverse the night without fear,
          I need no torch,
As the learned can feel their way where the inexperienced flail,
          I need no illuminator,
As wisdom provides all the clarity I require,

I need none of these Lord,
          So to halt his descent,
          Please bestow some enlightenment,
          On “Pointless Comment”?

        • @GnarlyKnuckles: pls dont ode me, i find it weird… If u did that to a stranger in public, you me even get committed for psych tests

And an ode is still a response Btw…hope u didnt spend all day on that champ!

…about the same time when "SUV" arrived.

  • My bad, I didn't read the coupon link above for T&C.

  • Thanks, via app works!

  • bought the flashlights thx

  • Cheers

  • bought a pair for $9.99. Yipee! Thanks…….

Ok, I signed up with the Catchoftheday app, hit purchase using the code and it came up $19.97.
I contacted COTD and was told to use 'REWARD1'only. No COTD on the end.
    Bought for $9.99

  • Did anyone checked the product page? Reliability could an issue-most people reported fail after around 2 years regardless of usage.

    http://joby.com/gorillatorch/original

    • probably most people buy first research later…
otherwise you will miss out so many from ozb!

  • Oh no, I miss the touch :( anyone have a spare willing to share? Will pay postage + 1/2 price. Thanks

  • Green back in stock but less than 4 hours before deal ends. $15 off and I had $10 store credit so got mine for free!!

  • I have received them today. The center spot is too bright so I had to wrap the head with a piece tissue paper.

  • Got mine yesterday. A casual test with my light meter shows that I get the same light output on NiMH cells as I do on fresh alkalines. That's good! Pity about the awful hotspot though.

  • ARGH! Arrived today, but I accidentally bought a GorillaPods not GorillaTorches! :(

    • +1

That wasn't very bright of you!

      • LOL! Yes, it was a bit dim!

Yeah the hot spot is worse than i thought it would be, I'm making a whole bunch of clear PVC diffusers going to trial the different styles tonight, if anyone from Perth wants any try let me know before tomorrow and I'll knock out a few extra's. I'm NOR so might not be worth the fuel if you are SOR or out East.

I just found that the lens from a cheap crappy broken 6W downlight fits almost perfectly in the JOBY GorillaTorch. It gives a nicely diffused 70-80 degree field of light instead of the spotlight lens it comes with. If you turn it around, the lens pokes out of the front, but it gives you a 180 degree field.

I replied to eug's comment on the previous page with some more info:

      • Cheers Greenie, might have to look into that, my ones were average at best.

    • how did you go with your PVC diffuser? I need to do something with mine too, useless the way they are now :P

  • I buckled and got a pair after saying I would use cheap tripods and cree ultrafires.
I agree, these are shite and next to useless.

I was thinking of using the frosted film for privacy windows, a couple of dollars a roll on ebay

This link seems to say its one of the better diffusers
    http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/8371/what-are-the-b…

Maybe even a bit of opaque plastic from a woolies/coles shopping or vegie bag held on with a rubber band.
    Try it out tonight.
