    The code's generic as I just got an email with the same code, but I do believe that only certain accounts will be able to use it (whoever gets the email is my guess, but could be wrong).

          Actually strangely enough it does work and my account was last used to purchase some thing just last month and i've had the account for quite some time. I didn't receive an email about it either. The code must be currently working for every one.

          OK worked it out needs to be the first time you are buying from the app…. I have a second 'ghost' account I ahem referred for a purchase previously (netting a $10 referral) and haven't used since - that account gets $15, while my main one with a few past purchases gets only $10 with the code… so must be some sort of bonus for using the app for the first time.

          it validates the code when the box loses focus .. ie you hit return in the field or click elsewhere iOS acts the same.

    Can confirm using newly installed iPad app even with an existing account seems to give you the extra $5 credit on top of the $10 reward.
